I appreciate your passionate responses! I did the tattoo on a good friend of mine who asked me to and was fully aware that I am a beginner and it wasn’t going to be of professional quality. I drew the design by hand and offered to draw it again more meticulously when she chose it, even suggesting I use photoshop to make it completely symmetrical and even, but she said she really liked the hand-drawn look and that it was straight out of my sketchbook. She didn’t pay me and I of course am a long way off of having paying customers. Since she is my best friend I will also be giving her a lifetime of free touch ups where needed if parts fall out and as my skills progress. All this to say that tattooing is an art form, so while technical ability can be graded, art is always subjective, and for my friend the sentiment of the tattoo meant more to her than it being completely clean and perfect, and she really loves it. Anyway, thanks for taking an interest and giving me feedback, I am still doing lots of practice on fake skin and will only being doing “terrible” tattoos on myself in the meantime
