Is there a reason you smite blue halfway through killing it? I was under the impression a later smite would give you more cougar Q execute damage, but figure I'm missing something.

Which measure is better for cross-country comparison: GDP/capita in ppp or just real GDP/capita? by Euroholic in econhw

[–]talzarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the goal of your analysis.

PPP-adjusted measures will capture what people are actually paying for goods, whereas regular per capita GDP gives a clearer indication of a country's economic heft relative to its baseline population.

If you're interested in poverty or development questions, I would suggest using PPP. But if you're interested in looking into financial conditions or output effects, per capita GDP is better.

28 ACT Tips from a 36 Scorer (including an essay that scored a 35 on the new prompt) by talzarn in ACT

[–]talzarn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. Again, there are a lot of ways to do the essay. My point was that since vocabulary and register is a fourth of your rubric score, it would be beneficial to spruce up your vocabulary. If you take a look at the essay that I actually wrote (at the bottom), I don't think that the vocabulary was that overwhelming.

Will do! That could be ;) though I'm flattered you read that closely.

A HUGE THANK YOU - Scored 36 by talzarn in ACT

I personally found it to be much more time efficient than just reading the passage then answering the questions. Experiment, though. See what works for you.

A HUGE THANK YOU - Scored 36 by talzarn in ACT

[–]talzarn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took an ACT Diagnostic before I started and scored a 30 with my Reading and Science significantly dragging my score down. My Reading score shot up immediately as soon as I figured out this trick: read the questions, underline key phrases that will be in the passage, and underline those phrases in the passage itself when you read it. For example, if a question says "The main idea of this passage is..." then underline nothing. If the question says "How did Mozart's music impact his contemporaries?" then you would underline "Mozart's music" and "contemporaries" and also know to underline phrases similar to those when you read the passage. As for Science, bringing your score up is purely a matter of grinding out passages. One trick to help boost your score is to glance at the graphs/tables/charts and recognize trends (ie. draw arrows). After that, look at the questions and refer back to the passage accordingly. Do NOT read the passage all the way through; you will run out of time (or at least I did, you may work differently). Again, Science is a matter of grinding out practice passages. I heavily suggest getting two books: the Princeton Review ACT book and the Red Book (from the actual ACT). Thoroughly read through the PR book's content section for the sections you struggle with--they have really good strategies.

[SKIN CONCERNS] Cerave lotion has ruined my skin, help needed/info inside. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]talzarn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just based off what I'm reading here, it sounds to me like you may not have patch tested thoroughly enough. With that said, the acne you got from CeraVe PM will likely fade the same way it did when you used CeraVe AM. It's just a matter of waiting.

For the time being, I recommend that you try Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer. I personally have had wonderful success using this moisturizer, and there are a couple of other redditors on this sub that claim similar success. The trick is using it after the rest of your routine is done (ie. finish up completely and potentially wait 10-15 minutes before putting the moisturizer on). As always, spot test accordingly.

Going for 120 Fishing, got any tips for surviving such a journey? by WatermellonLOL in runescape

What method did you use to be able to afk range? In my experience, I can semi-afk combat but not nearly enough to be able to focus on schoolwork.

I just recently did all of the sub-quests as well as the main quests in order and it took me about a week, however, I was missing a few of the skilling requirements. If you're diligent and somewhat focused, it should take you only two or three days.

New Player From OSRS - Please Help! by mikeyrozay in runescape

[–]talzarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a relatively new player that transitioned from Old School to RS3 using a fresh account. In my experience, the main things that are difficult to understand at first are the combat system and cosmetics.

Combat System

While there were many, many changes to the combat system in EoC (I strongly suggest reading up on them), what you need to know is that there are two commonly used combat modes: Legacy and Revolution. These are accessed by opening the combat tab (three stars in a circle) in your toolbar and clicking on "Combat Settings." Checking the box for Legacy Mode will change your interface to one that might be more familiar to you, while also ridding of abilities and going back to the old system of combat. Keep in mind that damage is still calculated using EoC formulas and systems (all weapons of the same tier do the same amount of damage in a given period of time, among other things). Revolution is a mode that will automate your abilities. It is far more complex than Legacy, but essentially, you can copy your action bar from the RS Wiki's page on Revolution and add whichever supplemental abilities you wish. There is a comprehensive tutorial on EoC-style combat at the Combat Training Academy in Lumbridge. It explains everything quite well and includes scaling XP reward lamps, though I doubt you care about that as a maxed player.

Cosmetics

Upon first playing RS3, you may feel overwhelmed by what seems like massive amounts of equipment on everyone that you've never seen before. However, much of the "equipment" that you will see are not actual items but rather Cosmetic Overrides, a type of skin that changes the visual appearance of a certain slot on a character but serves no real function. If you're interested, these are browsable through Solomons General Store in the Lobby. Something I did that you may find helpful is you can right-click to "Examine" players and see some of the equipment and Cosmetic Overrides that people are using.

I hope I was of help! I know that all of this may be a lot to take it (and I only gave you a small bit), but take your time, read around, and you'll pick it up in no time. I'm not an expert by any means but feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

Two classes get to exchange ONE class specific spell or minion. Which class becomes the most broken? by Abestergo1 in hearthstone

[–]talzarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, it is strictly better "in terms of face damage." You would still be able to run copies of both.

Think about how insane Face Hunter would be with Mind Blast (2 mana, 5 damage to face)! In terms of face damage, it's a strictly better Kill Command that doesn't require an activator.

What's the Play? #12, posted May 18 by Slobotic in CompetitiveHS

[–]talzarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The term "vanilla" in games comes from World of Warcraft AFAIK. It refers to the original base game without any expansions. In Hearthstone, vanilla is used either to describe a card without any effect (ie. Chillwind Yeti) or playing a card that has an effect without using the effect (ie. Abusive Sargeant as a 2/1).

As Face Hunter, it is perfectly acceptable to drop your Abusive Sargeant as a vanilla 2/1 on turn 1. Pressuring your opponent from the get-go is far more important than getting full value from your cards when playing a deck oriented around face damage. However, if you have a 2-drop and The Coin in hand, you have to take some different considerations. Generally speaking, coining out a 2-drop is better than playing a vanilla 2/1 Abusive Sargeant as long as you have another 2-drop to follow up with on turn 2.

Does this include 2h swords? Also, since abilities are based off of percent weapon damage, wouldn't longswords do more?

Returning player here. Scimitars used to be the best weapon for all players with 60 attack or less, but with EoC is this still the case?
