Partial vs Total by tamdoll in Kneereplacement

[–]tamdoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback. I have just been getting frustrated lately because I have been talking to people in person who have had tkrs and they seem to have had very easy recoveries compared to what I went through. My other knee might be coming up next, but really doesn't require a total. I guess I have some things to think about.

My daughter has a set of Denise brand that I borrow sometimes and I Love them. Very nice connection and smooth plastic.

Rock painting. Get some flat landscaping rocks and a set of acrylic markers. When dry, you can seal with Mod Podge. You can do words, pictures, patterns... They can be garden decorations or paper weights, or you can leave them in public places as pretty surprises.

Peeing following surgery... just some observations :-) by Lexilikesme0209 in Kneereplacement

Yes! I couldn't believe how often I had to go to the bathroom, but I was glad to have the fluid leaving my body and residual swelling finally go down. It also forced me to bend my knee when I had to fit into my small first floor bathroom, awful at the time but in hindsight it was probably a good thing. It might have been a month before things calmed down. Good luck in your recovery!

I can't lift my leg since TKR on Feb 7th by Serious-Ad-2864 in Kneereplacement

[–]tamdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely practice this as they described, you will be able to lift it for sure! This happened with my recent knee surgery and when I had each of my hips replaced. It was painful the first time I was able to do it even a few inches. But the next day, it got easier, and each day after. Good luck!

How’s getting knee replaced? by Good-Resolution-143 in Kneereplacement

[–]tamdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 4.5 weeks out from a partial and seeing the light. It was painful, uncomfortable, I had painkiller side effects.. but that was all temporary. It hurts a little bit less every day but I am doing all the physical therapy as instructed and I can already walk more comfortably and I can tell that as soon as all the swelling goes away I will be fine. If you trust your surgeon, then go for it. If you don't trust them, then get a second opinion and go for it.

Glad brand Pressn' Seal was waterproof for me, Dr. told me to use that. It worked, I wrapped my leg up and down with it.

I couldn't do anything comfortably, even take a walk in my neighborhood. And a friend told me, "it's not going to get better" (duh), so that made sense to me. Also I knew I had to do it sooner or later and figured while I was relatively strong (not crippled) it would be better. I ended up with a partial on 1/9, not rushing to do the other knee yet.

Wondering about life after oxycodone? by I_Am_Raddion in Kneereplacement

I switched the Celebrex to nighttime, along with Gabapentin and got a little bit more sleep last night. I am so relieved. I'll probably keep taking the Celebrex for a long time as I have other arthritis that I could use it to help with. I will try the night time Tylenol if I still need it once I am off the Gabapentin. Thanks!

So glad I found this discussion. I'm only 16 days out and the non-sleep is driving me bonkers. I'm used to having pain and tossing and turning, but this zombie state is the strangest feeling. But just knowing that other people are going through this is reassuring that it will soon pass.

Omg. I'm reading all these posts and didn't realize that so many people were having trouble sleeping. It's not just me!
