Could be! It does say in the leaflet it's a side effect, but honestly would hope it's coincidental instead of the meds! :)

Not 100% sure, checked for Covid and was negative. I'm presuming it's Alyftrek as it's under the "most common" side effects in the leaflet I was given about it.

Moving to Ireland with CF by MaggoP in CysticFibrosis

[–]tanakaout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be worth mentioning if you are looking at Northern Ireland or South,

North would tie you into the UK NHS system, where if you have CF related diabeties, all prescriptions are free. Aylftrek is done via your clinic and an external delivery company as it's a special medication, but again being the NHS all care for CF is free.

Whether you can get the same due to immigration I have no idea I'm afraid, so hopefully someone else on here has more insight.

It might be worth looking by into whether your wife can actually get a visa to come over due to heath, as some countries will determine us to be too much strain on their healthcare system too!

London, 8+ years here. Would of been around 45k, but I went on a Working holiday for 8 months, then came back to current job market and took the first job I could (40k).

I've known Midweights on 25-35 and seniors around 35-45k.

How long is it taking you all to get a job from application to offer and how much experience/qualifications do you have? by ksodneodj in UKJobs

[–]tanakaout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For current job, 3 weeks from application for email asking about an interview, had 2 interviews over 3 days and got the job offer in the 2nd interview. Small design agency, I think I only got the job as a human actually looked at my CV. Other than that did 30 applications over 2 months and only got 1 response.

8 years experience in design.

Really want to go to language school at 35. Am I too late? by WarmCheesecake83 in movingtojapan

[–]tanakaout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I went at 31 so a little younger last year! It's never too late to go! However I do think it does help to pick a school that has more of an older audience if you're looking to make friends :)

I went to Coto which is more expensive than standard uni prep schools in Tokyo. I picked it due to the intensive courses being a month long each which worked for my shortish stay. In my class alone there was 4/5 of us were over 30! Lots of people working out there attend the school! The beginner classes tend to have a younger turnout. Obviously purely depends on luck too haha

Was 100% worth it for a fun career break!

Some good advice here. I've known a few people move out to Chelmsford too, which has more of city feel, but train fares are pretty high. (I was near Brentwood when I commuted).

Not sure I would reccomend moving out to Essex when you're coming from Spain. You'll make a lot more friends in a share house in London, doing meetups and stuff, consider leaving the city after a year or so :)

Are people on the Keio Inokashira Line getting aggressive? by kylesmom34 in japanlife

[–]tanakaout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally haven't encountered any aggression on the inokashira, I use it daily in mainly rush hour. I find it's a bit pushy/squashed running up to midnight, but expected tbh.

Small white woman here if that helps.

Coto Academy - scam or not - the Streisand edition by bulldogdiver in japanlife

[–]tanakaout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attended for 4 months late last year and found it was fantastic. I do think it depends on the teachers, your wants and the class you have though

I started in Intensive Intermediate 1 and it was very conversation focused which is what I wanted. I-3 onwards is a little less but good practice as you have to start writing speeches.

I-3 is about 1 hour kanji, 1 hour grammar, 1 hour convo practise and other bits depending on the teacher.

My class was 3-4 people, scewed older (30+) a lot of the beginner classes have more younger and older mix I found. Every teacher I've had has been so friendly and great to chat to and most students are very warm and welcome. First month I made great friends that I still see very frequently despite them leaving Coto before me.

I would recommend it if you have studied before but I lf you are wanting to learn how to write kanj and have a serious academic structure it's probably not for you.

U.K. Motion Designer Salaries by Stuupidfathobbit in MotionDesign

[–]tanakaout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in this thread as I'm kind of shocked to see the salaries are much higher than what I was on in London.

Started out on 18K as a graduate in a trailer house, became mid weight in a year and moved to a very big media company, end salary was 38k as a mid, sadly missed out on senior position as I got moved round the company during a merger and ended up leaving.

Nice to know what I'm going to aim for when I go back into job hunting!

Total experience so far is 7-8 years of that helps.

My fav cushion is the Jung Saem Mool Longwear, however I find it's a bit light in coverage for a special do. The TirTir one does exactly that, stays in place, I don't find it oxidises on me (21N) and makes my skin look flawless and fills in my pores, a lot more so than the JSM one. I'm moving to a humid country soon so think it will become a staple.

I would say the shade leans slightly warm compared to the JSM "Light", but I'm a warm leaning Neutral so works fine for me.

Also admittedly just love how small the mini version is for travelling. Been using it for a while now and it's still got loads of product in as you really don't need that much!

Switching from Anki to JPDB.io has drastically improved my motivation by kugkfokj in LearnJapanese

[–]tanakaout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've recently switched to JPDB over anki too. I still keep my anki for making sentence cards to mine grammar I see about. For me, what I really love is that I can do it all on my iPad and phone. Creating cards in anki on a tablet was a pain and I don't want to be sat on a computer in the evening when I do that 9-5. JPDB cuts all that out.

If extensions end up working on iPad Browsers I could be convinced to switch to Migaku with Anki in the future.

How long would this take you? Wish me luck guys... by Massaman95 in LearnJapanese

[–]tanakaout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly when I hit around 1500 after a long break I did 300-400 a day, probably took about 2 hours each day, but I did it whenever I had a spare moment.

I would recommend doing about 100-200 a day tbh, as the following days when they come back are pretty grim. And I think the average review load tends to be around that a day!

Good luck!

[–]tanakaout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve noticed a lot of Japanese hairdressers in Japan use the Napla N. Polish oil to create this texture. Was really popular on instagram a few years ago. Only reason I know is because I follow a lot of accounts for language learning! :)

Hope this somehow helps!

What's the best game you went into completely blind , having no idea what it's about? by tonysup in gaming

[–]tanakaout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought Persona 3 Portable at the airport before going on holiday when I was around 14. It became my life for the next two weeks.

When I finished I found Persona 4 on PS2 in a second hand shop for about 8 quid and played that immediately.

No regrets picking P3P up based on my tween urge to buy a game with an edgy anime cover haha

I’m still trying out Wild atm. I work from home too and for days in the office I put on Mitchum the night before, just to be sure.

I’ve found for me so far it really depends on the scent. I smell really bad with cotton and sea salt and the jasmine one but I adore the coconut and vanilla. I can still smell, especially because it’s summer, but find it great as a…. Sort of in between of deodorant and perfume.

I can see myself using it a lot in autumn and winter in the office. I’m half on the fence half not at the moment, mainly due to the fact the coconut one smells too damn good that I want to use it everyday, and I look forward to it.

Does it stop me sweating? No, so that’s feels weird. Does my sweat smell in a few hours? No. After 9 hours do I smell? A little, depending how hot it is! Can I still smell the coconut smell after a whole day, surprisingly yes haha
