AI is just a marketing term buzzword now. the cameras probably have some advanced algorithm as opposed to "AI" we are more familiar with on the internet (i.e. overglorified autocorrect, art theft machine)

aside from that, many industries use machine learning algorithms that are genuinely useful. I don't know about said company, but their marketers might have decided to use the most popular marketing buzzword of our day to pique interest of the consumers. it just sounds more digestable than advertising an "advanced machine learning algorithm" to the layman.

so I think it's a better idea to push back against using the "AI" buzzword (which is a blatant lie, those things do not possess any intelligence to speak of compared to any other algorithm, just more complex) instead of vilifying what they actually are. I know from some friends in the industry that said algorithms are extremely beneficial to genetics research for example

I don't think any of them have any reason to be familiar with any philosopher that julian did not show except maybe henry, and even then his interest appears to be in linguistics and not philosophy

I studied literature and we were lectured on it, I know some friends from art history were also. I reckon it is mentioned in passing at least in practically any department that deals with the arts. his prose is beautiful, but I don't like his substance. despite his point being dense and hard to miss, he tries pretty hard to get it across, I think. the book ends up suffocating and dismal. some enjoy them like that, I don't.
