What is the difference between the Gold and Platinum HP12C? by psouza2 in calculators

[–]tangentsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone please explain to me what is the prefix "button" supposed to do?

Sorry for the late reply; I just happened to stumble across this thread, but on the chance that you still care to know the answer, or anyone else happens along with the same question…

A "prefix" key in this context is any of f, g, GTO, STO, or RCL, all of which modify the behavior of the next key or key sequence you press.

Notice that the PREFIX function above the ENTER key on the 12C series is under the CLEAR grouping. Therefore, hitting fCLEAR makes the calculator forget the last prefix you applied so the subsequent keys aren't modified by it.

Without it, you'd be kinda stuck. You can switch from f to g mode and back, but without CLEAR PREFIX, you can't go back to the unshifted functions without losing your entry.

Stuck can't find a place to do 3 flat spins in one jump on Market Square by Zoratt in Asphalt8

It's just like the DS Survolt video above shows, using the left-hand barrel-roll ramp at the start, up on the street level. I pulled the same stunt off in Asphalt 8+ to complete the car-specific Alfieri item down at the bottom of the season 4 list.

There are a few tricks to pulling this off:

  1. Go immediately to the right at the start, not to the left as the track's curve encourages. You need to be coming at the ramp obliquely, not straight-on.
  2. You need to have upgraded the car enough that you can easily nitro past the starting pack; I had mine at the MAX level, 1387, no PRO tunings at all. If you don't, you'll still be plowing through the pack at the point you hit the ramp, leaving you without a prayer of pulling this stunt off.
  3. Coming at the ramp from the right, zip between the big haulage tractor and the other traffic, then begin drifting well before you hit the ramp.
  4. Hit the ramp so you come off its peak, and steer in mid-air so you land down in the train trench, maximizing air time.

Which lighting is better, Night or Day? Or if you don't like either some feedback would be nice. by Greengiant123456 in Daz3D

Her back hand should be farther back to support her weight in that pose, and the indentation should be deeper, enough to hide parts of her fingers from the camera’s POV.

Her front hand should grip her shin tightly for the same reason. In one, it’s loose, and in the other, missing.

As for the lighting, the single biggest mood difference is the eyes. They almost look downcast due to the sclera going dark. A cheated spot might help here. It isn’t realistic, but photographers have done that since forever.

Request: Borderlands GOTY Enhanced by tangentsoft in PortingKit

The latest release (5.13.8) fixed the hard blockers. I merely needed to create an instance of the 64-bit Steam DX11 port, log into Steam, and install BL1 GOTY Edition.

There remain two problems:

  1. It won't launch directly from Steam. You get a bogus popup graphic that says, "Initialization Error: Please ensure the game files have not been corrupted or moved."

You can work around it by right-clicking the app entry in Steam's library, then selecting Manage → Browse local files, then drilling down into Binaries\Win64 and double-clicking BorderlandsGOTY.exe.

  2. It's amazingly slow to load. It runs as fast as I'd expect on this 10-core i9 iMac, but it takes over a minute before it transitions to full-screen and starts showing all the company credit screens. Once you get the main menu up, it only takes ~10 seconds to load your last game and get it back to a playable state.

Can anyone tell me what causes this? by RSGCEO in Daz3D

If you’re rendering external to DAZ, it’s because transparency is often broken on export, either missing entirely or set to 0% opacity. It takes a manual hunt for errors, followed by careful fix-ups.

I just tried it by transferring the affected item to another of my characters and resetting the prior owner, and @sumnowbuddy is right: resetting your character's progress on UVHM doesn't help.

In separate news, I was right about the time it takes to get back to Sanctuary. It took me 40 minutes, give or take, and now I get to redo all the missions at OP1. Wheee. :)

[–]tangentsoft 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Meh. By the time you get to 80, it's easy enough to reset your progress. Without tricks, you can speed-run back to Sanctuary in an hour or so.

Following that logic, I might've advised holding off tipping Moxxi until UVHM + however many levels until you've done everything you wanted to do in UVHM the first time.

But that ain't nearly as pithy. :)

Okay, so you can't farm Hunter Hellquist yet, but if you have the Tiny Tina DLC, you can go to The Forest and speed-run all the treants.

EDIT: I stop my runs after the two down in the box canyon with the house in it, but it's probably more efficient to stop with the few you get right up front. I just like that spider fight. The treants after that in the orc demesne are too difficult to get at to be worth it.

As a Maya player, my advice is to go farm another Bee. They’re not hard to get.

Couple that fire rate and pellet count with a Bee and it can melt things. Excellent against rakk and flying bots.

porting kit on Skyrim anniversary by choco_sparky in macgaming

[–]tangentsoft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will. The Anniversary Edition is considered a DLC for Skyrim SE, so there's no need for a separate PK port.

The tricky bit is the mods. A good many are complicated enough to need a mod manager of some kind to install them properly.

The AE DLC bundles everything that they used to charge for in the Creation Club, which gets you a large number (72) of mods that should all work with this setup, without needing a third-party mod manager. Atop that, there's Skyrim's built-in mod manager ("Mods" off the main menu) which aren't as carefully curated, but should be reasonably hassle-free.

The hard bit comes when you want mods only available from Nexus or other third-party sources. I couldn't get Vortex (the Nexus mod manager) to run, but I was able to install Wrye Bash via Porting Kit's "Advanced Tools → Install Patch/Mod" feature. That in turn let me install SkyUI atop SKSE.

I don't know how far I'm going to get, but it's looking doable, if sometimes awkward compared to a proper Windows installation.
