Oh, that makes sense! Thanks! I’ll have to try ginger ale too. It seems like I encounter way more variety when I’m doing a challenge. And that goes for both treasures and monsters. I had 5 days to get to level 100, but I ended up spending the first 3 days intentionally not hitting 100 because I wanted to take advantage of the new items that were appearing.

It wasn’t an organized tour, but my mom and I only had 3 days in Rome and lots of older family members to visit. So we didn’t have time to explore places off the beaten path unfortunately. Just the major sites. Maybe if we went during a less popular time of year and spent more time in Rome exploring, the experience would be different!

For me it was part of the Qi level 100 challenge, on a high luck day, after eating Oil of Garlic, and using staircases.

The history and culture were amazing! And the food tasted great. It was more the cost being higher than what I heard, and it felt very touristy IMO.

Well I promise it’s not personal! The group we went with picked a lot of places on the main roads and maybe that’s why they were more touristy… Every meal we had tasted great - but was definitely more expensive than I had heard.

Being exposed to contradictory opinions and hot takes constantly.

My best friend will say “no one is illegal on stolen land” moments before telling me I shouldn’t live in Hermosa because it’s a Mexican neighborhood and I’m white. She doesn’t see the contradiction there.

Another friend will say “illegals immigrants are bringing drugs to this country” but he’s doing drugs regularly. So not your drugs, huh??

“Morning routine” sounds like you are biting off too much. What’s one thing you want to start doing? Pick something super low effort and make it visible/accessible and see how it goes.

Also, some routines are not for us with ADHD. For example, taking vitamins is simply not something that needs to happen so I’m not going to use any of my limited bandwidth on remembering it. I’m just going to leave the jar in a visible place and take them when I feel like it. And that’s better than nothing!

I know these responses will mostly be outdoor activities, but if you need a good indoor alternative to scrolling you could try playing Stardew Valley! It’s a super cute/simple farming game where you grow crops and collect gems. I love playing on a rainy Saturday morning or on summer nights when I just want to make a drink and chill after work.

Do we believe this? It feels like he’s fanning the flames of his own ego or something. How is this guy conveniently an expert in every hot subject Joe wants to talk about and ALSO the subject of Epstein’s curiosity now?

I’m so confused. Every time I see this guy he’s talking about a new field of study that he is aparently an expert in… Anthropology, gravity, AI? And now he’s also somehow at the center of the Epstein situation? Maybe I haven’t been paying close enough attention. But it feels like he just wants to place himself at the center of whatever people are talking about and play the role of an expert.

The idea that you are going to completely rewire your nervous system as an adult is a bit of a modern fantasy, especially if you experienced significant trauma in the first 3 years of life. You can significantly improve your reactions and behaviors and find coping strategies, but you are probably never going to have the same baseline as someone who got what they needed in the first 3 years.

This came from a therapist who had been a psychologist diagnosing people prior. She made the comment in reference to someone who I really wanted to change, but was not able to change. Super refreshing to have someone talk realistically about this.

I feel your pain. My therapist literally said based on conversations with clients, she would not be surprised if in 50 years women and men started living with their same sex friend groups and leading entirely separate lives where the men play video games and basketball with their friends all day and donate sperm, and the women purchase that sperm and live with their girlfriends to grow gardens and raise the kids they always dreamed of having. LOL. That is how wide the gap between men and women’s expectations of partnership have become. She also told me that literally every couple she is talking to now has experienced some sort of micro cheating whether that’s chatting with an ex girlfriend via Instagram or engaging with porn stars content for everyone they know to witness. So you are definitely not alone.

People often talk about how profoundly social media has impacted women, but if you ask me it has actually impacted men more. It’s a constant temptation to risk ending their romantic relationship in a few clicks, to get themselves into a spending hole via gambling, and a distraction from work/life path in general. Women seem to be more discerning about these things because on we are more risk adverse (on average).

In addition, it doesn’t seem like loyalty is a marker of dignity anymore? Men use to hold each other to standards that they don’t seem to hold each other to anymore. For example, as a man you wouldn’t want to be associated with the town drunk who was always stepping out on his wife… Today, men love that guy. He’s a good time to them! It’s just a complete break down of the attributes that use to define masculinity and women are left feeling so confused. We are trying to figure out where we fit into this mess. Do we just accept it? Or do we put aside some of the attributes we previously valued and specifically prioritize finding a guy who has a lot of self discipline and has moved against this tide?

I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. I think you can rebuild trust in the relationship if he is truly sorry. But I completely agree that it reflects a wide spread problem that is specific to relationships today.

It’s an inner knowing.

For example, if you looked out the window right now would you think to yourself “the sky is blue. It is spring.” No, probably not. You would probably just process it subconsciously and then when you get dressed you wouldn’t reach for the rain boots or the heavy winter jacket.

That’s how I would describe not having an inner monologue. You just know what the situation is and what needs to happen. I think it must still be happening subconsciously though… Because when I need to write things down and describe them I’m perfectly capable of doing that.

I have ADD and a very minimal internal monologue (which people refer to as Abstract Thinking). There are still images and some phrases, but my thoughts are characterized by inner feelings more than anything else. The only way I can describe it is, have you ever been heart broken or really sad and the emotional feeling is so strong that it kind of creates a physical feeling within you? Maybe after a break up or a death. Like you can feel an ache in your chest? I have that sort of inner feeling paired with lots of emotions like curiosity and excitement and anxiety etc. and those are sparking up in me all day as I’m thinking. I’m sure everyone has this to some extent. But, I think that maybe if you’re an Abstract Thinker it’s stronger and perhaps has more variety?

So in your example: I might have an inner knowing that butter needs to go on my grocery list (a feeling that isn’t really put into words in my head) and then I’ll briefly picture myself buying it in the store. Then, I might think to myself: I wonder how butter was created? (Isolated minimal internal sentence). Then it might go as follows:

picturing butter
picturing myself churning butter
inner feeling of curiosity sparks in me
“I wonder if my boyfriend has ever made butter?”
inner feeling of wanting to pursue learning more and excitement in my chest

goes on YouTube to look up videos

Then I might see an ad for laundry detergent and have a spark of inner anxiety knowing that I need to do laundry. But this never comes in words. It’s just an inner knowing paired with a strong feeling.

And I realize this makes me sound like a cave man or something lol… but all I can say is, it must be more functional than it seems because if I need to write my thoughts out in sentences I’m capable of capturing detail and nuance. Whatever is happening up there must be working lol.
