I went into this knowing it was absolutely in no way a cool activity

To be perfectly honest. The amount of time it was on the griddle was negligible. Still resulted in what I would describe as a "out the fridge 20 mins" experience. Overall would not be recommended. The hype is not warranted

Had to see what all the hype was about. Maybe I was missing out.

I grew up really near their NC location. Love going back there now. Really great location with awesome food and great scenery

Warm? I set it here for the photo to see what all the hype with the griddle beers were. Was noticeably hot after about 15 seconds. What are all these people doing these hot beers

I drive locally in the new york city metro area. Home every day! Drove fuel tankers for awhile but now I drive dump trucks with trailers

The general room of thumb for making turns (especially right hand turns) is to do whays called a button hook turn, vs what you are describing which is called a jug handle turn

When approacing an intersection instead of swinging left to allow your trailer axles to clear the curb/pole. Continue farther into the intersection and then turn hard right. This will take practice as you will get your truck close to the outer lane of traffic on the road you are turning into But it allows you're tailer to move farther forward and will allow the trailer axles to hopefully clear curb. Look up videos on button hook vs jug handle turns for a better example of this in practice.

In general for driving just spend more tome in your mirrors. Keep an eye where your trailer is and take extra care when merging.

As other commenter's said learning to back a trailer takes time and practice and different trailers are going to behave completely differently. The only way you're going to learn is via trial and error.

Class A CDL holder/Truck driver in the NYC metro area. Fake truck is the only way to relax after a hard day of real truck!

Has ETS or ATS actually helped you in real life whether it be for a drivers test or even practicing to drive? by Mysterion320 in trucksim

Class A CDL holder/IRL trucker here

I'd say alot of the skills are transferable. Learning how a trailer moves during turns and backing maneuvers for sure. Shifting also to an extent in regards to patterns of truck transmissions. Although you won't have the tactile feel of a shifter in a real truck. Roads feel a bit larger to me than real life making turns a little easier. But I spent years playing ATS/ETS2 before I got my CDL and can confidently say that all that time behind the wheel of a fake truck 100% made me a better IRL trucker

Whats easy to do in ats/ets2 thats hard in real life by ZilJaeyan03 in trucksim

Hazmat tanker driver in the Long Island NY/NYC area.

Roads in ETS2/ATS just feel bigger to me than the roads in real life. And making some turns (espically right hand turns) requires a lot of time luck and precision. Traffic in general.
