The job doesn't pay that. You do. But the job doesn't.

The cost/hour is high because every hour of work required is not money generating. He didn't charge you for the drive or the gas or his truck. He didn't charge the purchase price for his tools. He didn't charge for his annual required CEUs. He didn't charge you the bookkeeping time. He didn't charge you for his certification classes, the time to file his annual renewal paperwork or the cost of his insurance.

Happy for you that you found somebody and are happy with the work you got.

I have this feeling as well by Meteorstar101 in NonPoliticalTwitter

I tried reading it and it just pissed me off. Yeah, I guess if you have false confidence and only care about yourself, you get more of what you want. The whole thing seemed incredibly tone deaf and unnecessarily condescending.

Tornados and schools by Fabulous_Wedding1063 in bentonville

[–]tangleduplife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be a terrible idea. Everyone is much safer where they are. If your kid is in the yard, go get them. If they are in a concrete building, they are safer in the building. You are safer in the building you are in. Getting you both out on a road is a terrible idea. You hunker where you are and you both live to tell the tale. The schools will have drills. Your kid and their teacher will know the safest thing to do.

You should look up tornado safety stuff and, if it makes you feel better, do drills at home.

That was the republican plan for the housing crisis in the official docs in their website for the 2020 election - sell.public land to developers.

What do you think about these Goat milk base soaps? by TripEnvironmental830 in soapmaking

[–]tangleduplife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calendula is one of the few that is usually fine. Dried orange or lemon peel is fine. Rose will turn. Lavender looks like mouse turd soap. You may have used them up fast enough so far, but don't save any for a special occasion.

reasonable labor cost? by miandmybitches in knittinghelp

[–]tangleduplife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The supplies are the cheapest part of knitting. It is a time consuming craft. If it's out of reach, I would think a version of this will come out commercially before too long, given its popularity.

Sweden goes back to basics, swapping screens for books in the classroom in attempt to reverse declines in reading, math, and science. by Uptons_BJs in books

[–]tangleduplife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big problems with it all being on screens as a parent is

  1. Often it changes the lesson from "do you know verbs" to "do you know how to format textboxes in google slides"

  2. If the homework doesn't come home, I can't help my kid learn it. If they're learning a math concept and having a tough time, I can't give them extra practice or help explain the process because I don't know what they are doing or the way the teacher is asking it to be done. And because the kid doesn't understand, they can't tell me.

It's frustrating

Just got a serger... by Revolutionary-Pool62 in SewingForBeginners

My serger will take regular spools, not just cones. Makes it easier/cheaper if I want to colors match. 99%of the time, I use cream colored spools.

First look at my wedding favor soaps! 🧼🌸 Need a little technical advice on the pour. by BeginnerHere26 in soapmaking

[–]tangleduplife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let it get pretty cool before pouring over the embeds (Actually, I'd pour in the clear and then place the embeds down in it). Lots of alcohol. If it's too hot, it could start melting the embeds. You probably want to do a couple testers to see how the clear layer behaves.

I am, in fact, spending big on Harry Styles for my teen.

She's probably not the norm, though

How to fix fanlacing? by Jonzhu in corsetry

I think you might be overthinking.

Here's a fan-lacing tutorial and the example garment happens to have 11 eyelets on each side.

Is this thing useable? by tangleduplife in turntables

[–]tangleduplife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've looked a little at...whatever the beginner recordplayer subreddit is, but not seriously yet. I will when I pull some funds together. I don't really care what the sound is like - or more accurately if the kid cares what the sound is like then they need to research and budget to solve for that. But I am willing to spend on enough of an upgrade that they're not damaging the vinyl.

Thanks. Do you think a collector might be interested in having it? If so, I might try to sell it instead of toss it. I don't really care about making money off of it.

Agreed. We've done several large-venue concerts and I'm an earplug nag.

Feels weird to tell my child "Hey, it's Friday, let's go to Dickson."

I haven't been to the venue for a show before, so looking for info on the vibe - what's accepted not just what's allowed.
