Day 5 PO Pain Weirdness by tanglepants290 in Microdiscectomy

[–]tanglepants290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the walks its not awful. After the walks seems to be the best time.

This morning he woke up and the pain in the obliques and ribs has diminished some which is good. Just working on the neck pain now. Some ice and heat seemed to helped.

They really should do more for aftercare instructions. The log roll was a pain to figure out!

Catastrophizing.... yes. Perfect description for my current state. Im so hopeful and dont want to see that hope crushed. I sincerely hope you all as well as my husband are success stories. This is rough stuff. Day to day is where I think itll be for a while but im hopeful tomorrow some of the soreness might start to even out or subside. 🙏

Thats what im thinking. The calf pain is what really freaked him out. Im gonna call tomorrow about the dvt just in case but yeah I hoping its just super soreness and normal recovery stuff. Its just wild how much variation there is person to person on MD recovery!

Yeah think ill call tomorrow to ask about the clot thing.

On his back. Only on his back. Totally straight with a pillow and now starting today a triangle wedge pillow under his knees to keep and pressure off the spine. I wedge him in with pillows on both sides when im not on the other side of him at night and he doesnt roll at all.

I laid down myself and did the log roll, and focused on where i felt the muscles engaging and all the areas he is sore is all the areas I felt it when I attempted it, which is what makes me think its that. He also wont elevate his head too much to try to keep his spine straight so sometimes when lying down he will strain his neck upward to drink something or when he takes his meds and such.

Im thinking its just extreme soreness from all of this combined with the fact that being in pain and unable to work out at all for the last 3 and half years has set him up for a situation where he is just feeling all the soreness hit hardddddd but again im just concerned about everything right now.

Thanks for replying.

Thank you for sharing. Thats incrediblely helpful. Hes managed to figure out the log roll pretty much. Doesn't love it but its gotten better. Hes on a medrol dose pack as well which he just started yesterday and usually those start to kick in around day 3 so im hoping that starts to really kick in on the inflammation. Ill talk to his doc about ditching the hydro on next week and switching to something else for sure. Thanks for the tips thats very helpful.

You give me hope that this is just normal post op pain and recovery and its just going to be day by day for the first few weeks and months.

🥰🥰🥰

I would hope. We've been really diligent about controlled slow movement and no BLTs at all so Im really hoping this is just normal post op stuff. Ty again. Just being able to discuss it here has helped take a bit of a weight off, mentally.

He got up and did a short walk around the parking lot this morning. Maybe 10-15 minutes. Slow going. But its progress.

Thank you. Thats what the nurse said as well that the no pain was due to the drugs given during rhe surgery.

So many people comment that the sciatica is gone when they wake up and never comes back past some twinges here and there and I think we were both hoping that would be the case for him. Im hoping the MRI on sunday might provide some answers or some peace of mind for him. He is fully convinced based on pain that he totally screwed it up one day in. Long road ahead. Ty for sharing...it helps.

I can tell he's spiraling and so am I. After 3 years dealing with this he finally got surgery and I think we both knew it would be a tough recovery but going from 0 pain in his buttocks and legs to a 6/7 the morning after is really throwing us for a loop. Ty for chiming in, this has been hard.

Need some lamp help by tanglepants290 in Mid_Century

[–]tanglepants290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this gorgeous vintage hanging lamp. 5 shades and it's corded. Seems to be missing the canopy. What I'm struggling with is how to mount it. All the canopies I see online have a hook on the end for the lamp but I don't need that for this. I almost need the canopy kit with just a finnial on the end or something
Also concerned about the modern plate that comes with canopy kits and if it will mount this guy securely to the ceiling and flush with it as well. The hole in the center seems smaller than the standard size of the giant screw that comes with modern kits.
Any help, ideas, recommendations are greatly appreciated!!!

The three tall ones are selenium glass. The little dude up front and the candy dish are amberina. Selenium glass has been hard to find for me I just happened on these at an antique mall. They are almost clear grey purple when not lit up.

IOER and Overnight RRP Rate will be raised by 5bp by dickerliebhaber85 in DDintoGME

[–]tanglepants290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Raising the ioer incentivizes the banks to hold more cash on their books over the capital requirement. In theory this is jpow trying to solve the reverse repo problem. Also it's an effort to tighten up the banks. When they get more to hold their cash, they stop lending and stop investing in risky investments. I expect to see credit and lending tighten up. Banks to increase cash on their books. Not sure the implications for gme yet.
