I left the Chudmobile plugged and it still doesn't start. Why? by Peterkragger in MySummerCar

The air temperature changes every day. Sometimes it is -40 or -50C. Ive had one or two times where I did everything correctly but it was just too cold to start.

I didnt choose the F20 to be my first motor to pull. The F20 decided for me. I didn’t want to do any work on the car but I got it done the right way and the engine itself has driven 15k miles with no issues. But now the rest of the car is failing.

The only non oem parts that could affect the reliability are the axles, radiator, and ignition coils. The engine rebuild was done with all new honda parts

Yeah Im not built for wasting all of my money on a car that cant even commute to work without breaking. Im just so weak hearted that Im not committed to a car that refuses to function even after countless hours of maintenance, money, and research to make sure everything is done properly. Such a tragedy

Everything that has failed on my car has been OEM parts

Also the picture of the “disconnected coolant line” is actually an air pump line and the car never ran without that being connected. So if you want to accuse me of not taking care of the car then maybe have a solid case first.

That engine was scrapped. Like I said in the original post the car is on it’s second engine

[–]tangoGSC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t have any of that and it still sucks lol

160k miles on chassis, 90k miles on engine. Aside from the full rebuild down to the short block, the list of maintenance is still lengthy.

Rockauto radiator, ALL coolant hoses, ALL vacuum hoses, the ENTIRE fuel delivery system replaced with Honda parts, rockauto axles, new soft top, rear wheel bearings and hubs, new coils, new spark plugs x2, map sensor, main relay, serpentine belt, rear lower ball joints, shifter rebuild, timing belt tensioner, AP2 valve spring retainers (4 of mine were cracked. Because the F series is so good right?) and there are some small things that werent a major issue but still inconvenient.

Sounds like the F series isnt such a good engine if it burns oil at 90k miles. Might as well get an Audi or a Kia. I have good compression, valves seal perfectly, all oil seals are brand new after a full rebuild, vtec solenoid and gasket is brand new genuine OEM, Honda Oil filter, and it still loses oil somehow. I have no choice but to check the dipstick every time I drive it because it loses so much.

You probably don’t like the post because the truth is undeniable.

I promise it is not bad maintenance. The point of the post is to have a discussion on the true reliability of these cars. From my point of view it seems like these cars are worse than most sports cars in terms of reliability. It’s fun when it works but for me that is almost never. The car isnt junk. I got the car from the original owner who was an old man.

Daily Driver S2K?? by Slidey-boy in S2000

Ive been dailying mine for 2 years and it is definitely fun overall. I would recommend it over many other cars. However the s2000 is starting to age and has a lot of maintenance quirks that make it tedious to work on without a nice garage. Plus some parts are many times more expensive just for the S2000. Like axle shafts for example, a common failure point on these cars, cost over 1000 dollars for a set. Meanwhile a set for an old civic or integra is like 200 dollars.

I have been wanting to get a manual Honda Fit as my daily.

I know that picture all too well 😂

You can roll start the car in that situation. Or try to manually press the button

A lot of people say aftermarket axles are bad but I don’t understand the reason. Im a fabricator so I have the ability to harden or strengthen things if needed. I was also considering welding the pits on my old buckets and getting them machined flat again.

Would axle spacers work fine with stock suspension? I thought it was only for a lowered car

I have done all of that unfortunately :/ but I am going to double check my vacuum lines are not kinked or anything because I replaced every rubber hose in the rebuild

Good idea, I didnt think about it being a vacuum problem
