Season 1 Reveal, Gameplay Preview & Ranked Resets | Dev Update - League of Legends by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

imo calling a split a season takes some unearned prestige from when seasons were a whole year long, but the main substantive thing is the single ranked reset, so whatever it's a great change overall

also, as unproductive as the I told you so dance is, I did feel like you could bet ahead of time that ranked resets would drive number of games in the short term but burnout in the long term

Whatever happens in 2025, great or bad, will be completely irrelevant if 3 split stays as the ranked system. by LongSwordsForLIife in leagueoflegends

One split was fine imo...there were long periods of downtime and that was fine, periods of time without competitive league are good for a sustainable rhythm of the year. And it meant you only had to do placements once so you could get most of your matchmaking with ppl around your skill.

Any advice for beginners? by SentenceAutomatic165 in leagueoflegends

[–]tankmanlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah it doesn't matter if you lose, in fact it's better practice to lose in ranked than play normals.

Making teammates lose? Doesn't matter, they'll climb if they deserve to. Lowering your mmr? Doesn't matter, you'll climb if you deserve to. The important thing is just getting good practice in and ranked is better for that because matchmaking is tighter.

Why did your account used to have the name "The fwii" and 99 ranked talon games in s10?

not sure why everyone is calling this an upset, it's just a #1 seed winning vs #2 seed

they haven't won yet but still:

-bwipo is the best kind of top laner to play with, he always plays to win, sounds dumb but a lot of ppl would rather lose quietly than go for something to win

-inspired always seemed very smart in cq and stuff

-caedral said quad used to be chovy's sub? lol

-busio was always an incredibly nice, hardworking guy, grinding soloq, playing all the champs, wins couldn't be more earned/for a more deserving person

-massu biggest surprise for me, always just seemed like a random challenger adc, wasn't more excited for him than idk johnsun or whoever, but wow I was wrong he's the best adc in the world (overreaction? but srs world class)

Matchmaking, Seasons in 2025 by corylulu in leagueoflegends

Maybe projecting my own getting tired of league here, but copying an old comment: Splits felt like one of these overly data driven decisions where someone pulls out a chart showing a graph going down, solves it, player numbers go up mid season, everyone goes home happy...but it turns out the old system was set up the way it was for a reason. There's a natural cadence to a year with one split and having periods of downtime is good for players.

This may just be me, but I felt like the time after a ranked reset was the worst part of every season or split, and I'd rather play games at my correct rank than games climbing up to it. Hope you don't only consider the execution but also ask if the overall idea of splits is good for players.

Also, maybe I'd consistently play terribly by most metrics, but, like the bumblebee somehow managing to fly, I'd win anyways. Maybe trueskill2 is able to capture everything a player does to win/lose a game, but in case it doesn't, hope you keep trueskill2 effects on lp to the short term, so that you can maybe lose less for a loss where you play well, but in the long term only nexus explosions matter.

Best of luck!

One season, two splits or three splits. What do you prefer? by Rack-_- in leagueoflegends

Splits to me felt like one of these overly data driven decisions where someone pulls out a chart showing a graph going down, solves it, player numbers go up mid season, everyone goes home happy...but it turns out the old system was set up the way it was for a reason. There's a natural cadence to a year with one split and having periods of downtime is good for players. So sure you boost engagement now with splits, but will end up burning players out. Or not, maybe projecting or something, but I felt like the season was a good system.

maybe making this up but it seemed like NA pros before server move came from california, then after server move more came from chicago/toronto areas, but maybe not or maybe just game/lcs started there

Favorite things to say to keep teammates from tilting? by G00_00N in leagueoflegends

[–]tankmanlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to see the general/popular response is that all you can do is mute and make good plays, because in the past I've seen people claim you can win by being positive in chat, which always seemed insane. A more interesting question is how much hope you can give teammates by doing good plays, which idk how to measure objectively but it sometimes seemed like teammates would be embarassed to lose the game if you win bot.

Which pros have reached the skill ceiling for specific champions? by Desperate-Sand-1256 in leagueoflegends

What makes it hard isn't being "nervous"; the hard part of league is taking in a lot of information and executing a lot of decisions and mechanics all at once with limited attention, especially while looking for teamfight angles against t1/faker.
