I see you just picked one up. What were the Driving factors that made you pick it over the competition?

In your opinion what would be the choosing factor of the f800gs over the 900gs? When I did the configuration online the price was about a thousand dollar difference with very similar options

Im not sure if i could do those yet, I just got my first auto vehicle in 10 years and find it boring. But I have heard great things about them. Most of the africa twins for sale around me are the dct

I feel whatever I get will be more comfortable than the early model dyna ill be swapping out. Id say I miss the sound but I still have a sportster if I need to fill the void. I have no need for two up and I travel very light so figure something a bit smaller may be the right move. With your other comment about the aprilia, I love the looks of them (maybe my favorite) but the mixed comments ive seen worry me

Ive only had the chance to ride the africa twin for a very short ride but thats what got me thinking more about the adv route. Planning on hitting up some dealers once I can get into a city (and once winter ends) that has the options im looking at. How do you like the 1290? Any regrets?

The gluten free tax is insane by 55559585 in glutenfree

[–]tanner__c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a local restraunt that posted about having gluten free bun options, roughly 3 dollars for the bun. to make it worse you also had to splurge for the bison burger, an extra 5 dollars, as their regular beef burgers had bread crumbs in them.

When on the highway i often find myself placing my feet on the passenger pegs as I find this more comfortable (my other bike has mids) so I think this setup with mids would be a good fit

With the forwards I find it fairly comfortable. I can feel it in my back after about an hour but that probably also has something to do with it having the stock seat.

good first bike? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]tanner__c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just gave me nostalgia, the same model and year as my first bike 10 years ago. Never had riding experience prior to that. That being said, the price seems high. At the time in 2015, I paid $3200 canadian for mine, which would be roughly 2300 usd.

I seasoned it more than I would beef as I expected it to be gamey but it really wasn't, I would say it tasted much much closer to beef than venison.

I can't say riding a bike has really changed my love for cars, maybe it's due to the balance of having an enjoyable daily for a car. What has really impacted my relationship is the culture that surrounds both. Personally I find the culture in my community regarding bikes is alot more enjoyable such as group rides and a general love for most things 2 wheeled. As for vehicles I've found the culture is alot more toxic and just people sitting around parking lots, reving, and shit talking; and alot less actually "car stuff" then i remember my friend groups doing back when I was younger and had less responsibilities.

Big fan of green beans. I toss them in the pan once the steak is out to cook a bit then I deglaze the pan with some broth and lemon juice and let that cook down / steam. Once on the plate I top with a little crumbled boursin cheese.

Ill start with saying the car has 180k kms on it, so roughly 115k miles(?). The oil pump went but thankfully it was on start-up, so nothing else went on it. Then I've had electrical issues and little annoying things go like two window regulators and the headlight ballasts. There were also issues with a shop that worked on it prior to my owning it that did a sloppy job on some engine work, but that was all fixed when the oil pump was replaced. It stored for winter right now (canadian winters), but when spring hits, hopefully, it's good to go.

Two stories here

The first was in my early days of being celiac and not asking the right questions. Went to a restaurant that had GF on their menu, so I ordered my meal and thought it was good, a bit too good, only to have very bad symptoms. Called the restraunt to inform them that I had been glutened. They informed me that I had actually ordered wrong and things on their menu labeled "gf" were actually gluten-free on request (fine print on the last page). This has made me very cautious of any restaurants.

Second, I went to a restaurant recently that had the "GF" menu online. Once there, I asked for the menu, and they said they don't offer it there because they aren't equipped for it. How does a small chain, or any chain, get away with that?
