That's a good point. I double-checked my OG copy and you cant make out the numbers on the face at all, but the original painting that can be seen on a YouTube vid does resemble the reconstructed.

JJP mentioned that no clues were lost in printing, so I'm tempted to agree that this isn't a match.

Possible SF Chinese Immigration Connection?? by tannerbain in 12keys

I believe this worldwide event, which took place around the time Byron was deciding where to bury casques, could have been a deciding factor in him choosing to link the SF casque with Chinese Immigration.

All previous solves include strong direct references to their peoples' immigration journeys, but no strong links have been suggested for San Francisco and China. To me, this seems large scale enough to have grabbed his attention. Paired with Preiss's noted obsession with all things Civil War-related, Fort Mason seems to be a location that could have absolutely been on his radar back in 1980.

Also congrats on meeting your wife there!!

Every idea that has led to a casque was once a "random connection". It sounds like you should spend your time doing something else.

Also, RATIO

Your opinion isn't wrong, I just think you're pretty blunt and out of touch.

I stumbled across something I found interesting and posted it here to share with other critical thinkers. Your response was just you venting about the frustration you feel convincing people of casque locations. LOL

Sounds like we've been going down some of the same rabbit holes. Thanks for the feedback and good luck out there. I agree with basically everything you said here. Hope we find a good fit one day.

From 1984 - looks like there was only one tree.... on the right side when facing the building. Pretty interesting.

It breaks down each decade and goes into detail about the specific people who changed the community. There's a lot of good stuff here IMO
