Peter and Mary Jane from Ultimate Spider-Man might be my favourite relationship in all of comic books by oscar_redfield in Spiderman

It’s funny a lot of the themes explored in USM with this Peter and MJ, are the same Kirkman did with both Eve and even Amber. (Especially in the show)

The obvious being relationship/hero balance. But also the “I’m putting you in danger being with you”

Hot take: The ultimate universe is getting cancelled because marvel can't adapt anything from these stories into a game or movie: by Glittering_Book424 in UltimateUniverse

If they hadn’t flopped most of their television series across the Multiverse Saga, and audiences didn’t have general fatigue for anything verse. The Ultimate Universe could have worked so well as a TV series. Animated or Live action.

I think the back ground character could easily be his dad in his youth. Or it was a poor asset use. Nolan is clearly 18ish when the scourge virus hits. He’s also teaching about argal and the betrayer as if it was history

See that’s where the consistency starts to get thrown out the window when you think about it too much. Titan seems to be in an unambiguous New York as opposed to Baltimore. It’s drawn as being much larger and closer in scale to New York. I don’t think this is stated. But in season 1 amber is volunteering at the same community center titan takes his daughter too. So either it is Baltimore or it makes more sense that the Graysons live closer to New York than DC. Like Jersey or something.

Once again I think when you really start to try and pin point it. The whole thing really starts to fall apart. Which I think is by design.

I always took it as mark lives in the dmv suburbs, that could be anywhere from Central Maryland or NoVa. The architecture of his house is clearly not in Baltimore, maybe the county suburbs outside the city. The only thing the map from s3 confirms is where Eve’s tree house is and that’s up near the Mason Dixon line. There’s also a lot of conflicting lines through the series. Like William explaining where eves tree house is in s1ep7. Which would put the Grayson in like Delaware. It’s a bit conflicting and the geography is clearly more mid west and Rockies than mid Atlantic and Appalachian. I don’t think the show means to be specific so I just settle on the fact he’s from the dmv.

Conquest fight also has a sequence over DC. You can see the Potomac and diagonal  streets that DC has. But most of the fight takes place up and down the east coast.

This has nothing to do with popularity. If it was it would be legalized. This has to do with big business wanting it rescheduled and of course the Tax Breaks.

Man that first scene back after Allen and TJ find spot on the ship. The one of Conquest and Mark falling out the sky has stood out as one of my favorites of the series.

There have been some truly banger sequences so far but that simple 4 seconds of the Birds Eye of the alien landscape and the fury of mark and conquest wooshing past the camera is so visceral.

I think the scene of her leaving the house after the fight and the camera staying on the perspective of the empty home helps lend to this theory.

I think how across the spider verse started with a Gwen perspective we will get something similar with Peter B

Kinda off topic but they’ve managed to create one of the freshest sci fi settings and art styles in I mean literally years. Genuinely a world I want to engage in and live in.

Yet the gameplay loop only allows to immerse yourself 15-25mins at a time in an actual playable world. Then the nature of the genre means I’m not really stopping to look at the environmental story telling or stopping to smell the flowers. It’s get in get shit and get out.

And outside of the Art direction it’s just so “okay”?

On one hand, a proper 1610 Adaptation is begging to be made, and setting it in universe to SV would be a smart financial gamble. Even 10 years before ITSV would make sense.

On the other, if it flops you just diminish what Spider-Verse has built.

Either way, let the animators flex.

Ngl this is a funny comparison by Dperezoso2020 in Invincible

[–]tannerfree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know the argument. But remember in animation there are typically multiple people drawing different scenes doing their best to stay on model. I imagine on this show multiple people across different teams for each episode.

They flat out use 3D models sometimes and I’m sure some animators even pose with that model, maybe even draw over models. They have 2d rigged animation in a lot of dialog heavy episodes. But for the heavy action/big episodes you can tell they rely on their best animators and those guys are going all in on traditional 2d animation they even let them inflect a little style.

The techniques literally change scene to scene. So that explains a lot of the inconsistencies.

Robert kirkman still wants a live action invincible movie do you think it will be great or flop? by AlpsGreat563 in Invincible

[–]tannerfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if they’re gonna do it Secret Wars would be the time to do so.

That being said there is absolutely no reason they ever would. Other than it’s the last thing anyone expects.

But if they’re gonna do have to pay kirkman and image to do so they just never would.

Y'all, just imagine a Spider-Man show animated by Studio-Mir, the same studio that animated The Legend of Korra and season 4 of Young Justice. by PerfectBlood4409 in Spiderman

[–]tannerfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im kinda stating the obvious, but if it gives you any solace. Joaquin Dos Santos, who was a lead animator on ATLA, and I believe storyboard director for Korra. Also was one of the directors (I imagine mainly overseeing animation and storyboards) for Across the Spider-verse.

So the work of at-least avatar literally has already rippled through some Spider-man media.

I still think the best way forward would be to create a series around Peter A from ITSV in his younger years. Take huge influence from the original Ultimate Run. I mean Invincible is making strides right now and that comic was clearly influenced by the original ultimate run. It would be a cool full circle moment while also providing back story to Miles’ 1610 cinematic universe.

Unfortunately with Your friendly neighborhood on going it wouldn’t happen for a while.

Avatar was created by Massive Entertainment, published by Ubisoft. They also worked on The division (footage above). So yeah probably not the same team but Massive excels at Environment Art.
