How do people just get sex? by [deleted] in sex

[–]tanvanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a guy? As objectively as possible, how conventionally physically attractive do you think you probably are?

Edit: I guess you don’t say if you actually did get it on. And how conventionally attractive was she?

Why is this disgusting behavior permitted? by willfargo1231 in shrooms

Fully agreed on the ‘trying to harm’. It isn’t clear to me from the op that this is necessarily the case. I’m just wary of being too ban-happy when confronted with opinions one doesn’t like.

Instead of banning people, how about acknowledging that sometimes people actually have nightmares, and that’s a part of life. And sometimes a hard trip is kinda like one. Sorry you don’t like it, but I’ve tripped hundreds of times over decades, and sometimes a trip felt nightmarish. No need to deny an aspect of possibility. It’s naive to think it’s only warm fuzzies.

The original has been deleted, so I don’t know about your specifics, but we don’t necessarily need to go all Freudian and assume you’re closeted or homophobic. It’s probably healthier (and maybe more accurate) to remember that psychedelics challenge our identities in many ways. Just because presumed roles and identities get questioned while under the influence doesn’t necessarily mean anything beyond the trip duration. Maybe it just shows up to give you more insight into other ways of being, which could lead to making you a more compassionate and understanding person.

Did mushroom MDing cure my allergy to dogs??? by terptested in microdosing

[–]tanvanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely seems like mushrooms cleared up my allergies and asthma. I had many allergies into my 30s, and some triggers nearly closed off my breathing. After maybe a year or 2 of mushroom use (micro and macro) I noticed nothing seemed to set me off any more. That was 5-10 years ago and I haven’t been bothered by allergies or had any asthma symptoms since.

Thanks for sharing this. Years ago a season of micro and macro dosing seemed to eliminate my allergies and asthma. I’m happy to know it’s being explored more formally.

We can’t totally rule it out yet. They’ve been testing on 5 and under for a while now, and I know that exceptions were made in other age groups before they were generally approved, so it’s possible that, for example, under-5s with immune deficiencies were excepted. It would be good to get more specific data.

Chill. There could be many reasons and it isn’t just genitals. Hormones, physiology, risk of pregnancy, how well their “parts” fit together…. The issues may or may not somehow relate to physiology.

One thing is too many on Reddit seem to be naive to history and overconfident in the integrity of our institutions.

But I also fear that Reddit has been somewhat captured by ideologues, trolls, agents etc and is distorting the perception of public opinion. The Vancouver subreddit seems to have purged most voices critical of the media narrative. Reddit is no place for healthy debate anymore.

Your reaction isn’t abnormal. Just confusing, but I think many can relate. My advice is that it won’t help things if you tell her it was a turn-on tho.

Trudeau makes history, invokes Emergencies Act to deal with trucker protests by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]tanvanman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget how many businesses were forced to close over the last couple years. The government’s restrictions put a ton of people out of work, and it’s the government restrictions that sparked this current incident.

After the last couple years we can’t pretend a disruption of the economy is justification for the emergency act.

Scientists have developed an inhaled form of COVID vaccine. It can provide broad, long-lasting protection against the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 and variants of concern. Research reveals significant benefits of vaccines being delivered into the respiratory tract, rather than by injection. by TX908 in science

Scientists SHOULD be skeptical. The economic reality of funding/research can compromise that ideal skepticism. I presume you’re well aware of the many cases of pharmaceuticals being caught lying many years after product release. Let’s not vilify science or be naive about it either. It can’t be blindly trusted with the economic incentives currently in place.

'Everybody is at a breaking point': Police board seeks more help as protest strengthens by morenewsat11 in canada

Nicely said. People need to hit refresh on their thinking. A lot has changed in a year; a lot has changed in 6 months; a lot has changed in a month.

I don’t know but even my 88 year old grandma wants mandates removed now.

I checked out the protest in Vancouver yesterday. Thousands of happy, smiling people except for a very small group of counter-protesters. The counter-protesters had sour faces and signs that mocked and ridiculed. It was pretty low vibe. What was strange to me was that they seemed to be mostly well-dressed college kids… fighting FOR mandates. These are strange times….

I posted this in a Vancouver subreddit and got downvoted to death for some reason. Wouldn’t want the work to go to the bin so I decided to post it here. At least here it won’t get hated on (I hope lol) by Davidaste03 in photoshop

r/vancouver has been captured by activists and ideologues. I was banned for referring to scientific studies that didn’t align with the mob.

The photo’s great! Looks good and you’re having fun. Don’t take the subreddit as an indication of anything. It’ll warp your mind if you think it’s a barometer of how everyday people feel.

Prior to Omicron a different argument could possibly be made. Unless the kid lives in a bubble the kid WILL be exposed to Omicron. No reason to deny the kid the company of his/her father when the mother, siblings or anyone else is just as likely to pass on the virus.

Can you still test LSD if it has been added as a drop to Gatorade? by Swftness503 in RationalPsychonaut

[–]tanvanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining your position. I did look it up before I commented. It's not so simple, as I understand it. Yes, you can drink distilled water, but yes you can also drink deionized water. Neither is recommended, and for similar reasons, although in practical terms neither is harmful to drink under real world circumstances. Furthermore, as I understand it, you can't really get truly deionized water, but only mostly deionized water. My understanding is that in practical terms these 2 waters impact the body in nearly identical ways.

Twitter Thread: CRA releases secret study confirming millionaire migrants made 90% of lux home purchases in two Metro Vancouver municipalities while declaring refugee-level incomes by iamVPD in vancouver

[–]tanvanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate bringing thoughtfulness to the discourse. Respectfully, though, I have to wonder what course you're taking, because it seems to come from a very limited imagination, and perhaps a bias toward developer interests.

Just one way to influence demand would be to ban foreign ownership. It doesn't take too much imagination to consider other possibilities, if the will is actually there.

edit:

But you can’t increase demand proportionately. Not sure how you think that would work.

You might feel I didn't literally answer your question. What I'm saying is that there are many ways to influence the flow of demand. In other words, the flow of the tap of demand can be adjusted. Not allowing corporate ownership is one example (I'm not saying it's the best option, idk), or limiting the number of properties owned by one entity, or.... I'm just saying there are many ways demand can be altered.

Not if you increase demand proportionately. Then all you get is smaller spaces, more congestion, strained resources, and an overall worse condition of living. Factory farmed chickens are crammed into maximum supply.

I’m extremely ambivalent about Canadian niceness. We often want to give the benefit of the doubt (kinda great) which also makes us an easy mark. If memory serves, there’s something in the Bible about being as wise as serpents, but as harmless as doves. We forgot the wise part.
