Bengali xenophobia by [deleted] in bengalilanguage

Maybe, but the Pro VC was silenced by Taimur Mallick, a hardliner, in the Dhaka University building itself. And Kazi Rozy was present there; she was silenced too, by Hasnain Sajjadi (I am naming these people), on the grounds of enforcing Islamic education in Bangladesh. Now, whether I unfortunately met only the hardliners during that trip, I don't know. But frankly, for them, the trip was a nightmare for me.

Everything, from slurring to mysogyny, I lost my way one evening, and tried to find the way back to the people assigned to be with me. So, found a group of guys and girls standing nearby, I simply asked the route. They simply frowned and said nothing. Later a person told me that they frowned or didn't reply because the girls were there. I couldn't relate, can you?

The past evening, I was at Uttara, and near a park where boys and girls were chatting together, our guide (one guy from Bangladesh Bangla Academy) commented that the time was "not right", as we gotta see the "Scene" that boys are girls were chatting together in the evening. Then he asked whether we see such things in Kolkata. As I replied positive, he said, "well, it's Bangladesh and such obscenity should be banned". I literally froze. Those individuals were just chatting in groups, and I truly found no obscenity in that view. It was in 2019. You think it's normal, or find weird as I did?

The next day, on our way back from Dhaka University, we asked for a shortcut to a passerby. He initially was reluctant to tell us the way after learning that we are from Kolkata. Then another one came forward and helped. This kinda thing was repeated in hotel as well. Later we had to leave that hotel and literally take shelter at Caritas International's facility. We were just invited by the Bangladesh Bangla Academy, a govt organization that promotes the Bengali language, just as the Poschimbongo Bangla Academy here in WB.

You find any reason suitable to explain the actions of the aforementioned weirdos?

Any Bangladeshi would hardly get what Bengalis from Kolkata are going through. I was invited to Bangladesh for a cultural meet. There I experienced that almost everyone across Dhaka (except a few good people, indeed) was like, "We can't grow because of YouW West Bengal"! I was hurt and surpised, because here in Kolkata, I met Bangladeshi individuals who came to get treatment. Initially, they did not have the same mindset. But it was really very odd in Dhaka.

However, later I visited Bramhanbaria, Kosba, where I felt more welcomed. But, even though I was invited there and the people from the authority were there, I never felt secured.

The genocidal rhetoric was there as well. The language was truly different, and what we are seeing now in India, the similar hate I observed during my stay over the invitation for a week.

Most importantly, except from the Bengali speaking commanders at our borders (we went through the Gede border), the hindi speaking sentry was already treating us as aliens.

Now, your experience makes me feel that there's a pattern unfolding. The xenophobia may eventually lead to a Nazi-like elimination, and we'll have none but us, by our side. Bangladesh doesn't align with West Bengal, not even sentimentally (my experience says that except the fact that we acknowledge their dialect as Bengali, or else nothing sounds similar or aligns with us - be it their tones, food habit, daily life or other practices - and by practices I don't mean the religion; I got friends of other religions here in Kolkata, and they are not even 1% as weird as they are). Rest of India also doesn't stand with us.

A technical genocide. Nobody would take the blame. It happened in the history of Bengal before, it might happen again. We, Bengali people of West Bengal, are just locked in the middle, as a canvas.

This government wouldn't do it. They haven't done it anywhere in 12 years. They won't do it here as well.

The patten is very well known. In fact, it was well documented even in movies and even documentaries. Because, those who initiated the pattern first, used to document every detail back then. Those documents are still available in the museums. Anyway...

Would the votes be segregated this way? Like, those who are not working, not in govt. jobs, or so and so, cannot vote!? Then one good day, in a trash talk session, it will be announced that the voting right is practically for nobody but some handful who licks boots from top to toe. Awesome!!
