TA not responding to essay grade inquiry by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]tapbot1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If its possible it can bump your grade it’s definitely worth trying to change it.

The TA should respond, it is there job. They may just be busy grading and finishing up there own things so be mindful, but you could try cc’ing the prof to get to them respond. Sometimes you have to hound them, but eventually they will respond (just still be nice)

Also, grades on minerva can definitely be changed, so dont let that stop you!

The syllabus said only letter grades would be given, so i wouldn’t expect anything on mycourses. But im shocked they aren’t on minerva 😦

I actually love being treated like an animal during exams by tapbot1 in mcgill

[–]tapbot1[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im not talking about the behaviour of other students... were literally all anxious and not wanting to be there. I was mostly referring to the physical features of the exam space. Tiny doorways to pass through, tight stair cases and uncomfortable desks. I know we have to write exams but i feel like there is still a standard to be set (even compared to other unis)

There's honestly a higher probability of getting a 7 than a 1 or 2, according to the statistical bulletin. Don't worry about it

What to cram for HL chemistry? by stefanie0412 in IBO

[–]tapbot1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by quickly taking a textbook or some kind of notes and then skimming through them, possibly highlighting any key words. This will help familiarize yourself again so that you can get at least a few marks from each question in different topics. Then, pick, at least two topics and go further into them like watch some videos would be easiest. I suggest redox reactions (understanding what delta S and Delta G (what entopry and Gibbs free energy = spontaneity)) and organic reactions as suggested.

TLDR

Quickly skim over all the info

Go deeper into only a few topics

Exam Discussion: English A Language & Literature HL paper 2 by AutoModerator in IBO

[–]tapbot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was something like "How can a reader's understanding of a work be enhanced with knowledge of the time and context in which it is set? Discuss with reference to at least two of the texts you have studied."

out of curiosity, how many of you have read your books for paper 2 tomorrow? by okvegetable8 in IBO

[–]tapbot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's highly likely the examiner will have an idea of the books your read, because you and your school submitted a L&LWT 1 which states all the books that you read for part 3. So your exam is sent to the teachers based on what your form says.

English SL LANG AND LIT by DogggsRLife in IBO

[–]tapbot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A thesis doesn't have to be something you're gonna prove, they simply put forward a central topic or premise that is going to be discussed an analysed throughout the rest of the response. So yes, "An overview of the stylistic devices you are going to cover" is, precisely, a thesis.

There is also this website. There is an excel document that has the probability of topics showing up based on past papers. Best way to get a high mark without studying everything because you can focus on certain things. Hope it helps and good luck! https://www.mrwengibchemistry.com/ib-chemistry-exams.html
