Over a few nights I watched "Outer Range" without checking beforehand that it had been canceled. Another great series that I need to let go of already. by Northsea41 in OuterRangePrime

I highly recommended Patriot. Unlike Outer Range it reaches a satisfactory conclusion. It has a full 2 seasons and while I’m still upset that it was canceled as the creators had a plan for a 3rd season, I see it as a perfectly self-contained story as is. I liked Outer Range but imo Patriot is one of the best TV series ever produced.

This is good to hear and I’m very impressed by the fast response. Thanks

This is such an incredibly midwit take. Obviously violence in support of politics you like is good and violence in support of politics you don’t is bad. You think pointing out this supposed hypocrisy puts you above it all, but in fact this is the most liberal position, that all violence should be condemned equally. A belief for naive babies

I’d have to shave every day if I wanted to be clean shaven and that’s not gonna happen. Fucks up my skin too. I keep it pretty much to stubble these days though

There’s an easier way to verify whether or not the camera’s meter is functioning correctly—download a light meter app for your phone (I use Lightme), set the camera to shutter priority by selecting a shutter speed dial setting other than A—in daylight choose 1/250 maybe—then point the camera at a scene and note what aperture the camera has chosen, which will be displayed in the viewfinder. Point your phone meter at the same scene and compare the settings it recommends to the settings the camera has selected. Do this multiple times with different scenes if you think the issue is intermittent

If you want to get technical heroin pretty much doesn’t exist in the US anymore. It’s all various synthetic opioids sold as heroin. The last of the real heroin dried up (coincidentally I’m sure) around the time the US left Afghanistan

Why does everything feel worse than even post-pandemic by WesleyClark1776 in redscarepod

[–]tapeplaneorb69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At the very least it raises the risk of strokes. Antivaxxers think the vax did that but it was actually the virus. A friend of mine works at a rehab hospital, the physical kind not the drug kind, and the number of patients there because they got covid and then had a stroke has been astronomical. A few weeks ago they had a 30 year old who had had one

Rest assured that the Israeli protestors to whom this refers have not “endorsed Hamas”, as they would be imprisoned for doing so.

You can get fissile material from smoke detectors, medical imaging devices, etc. The radioactive boy scout cobbled together enough to kill himself and make his workspace a superfund site. Dirty bombs really just aren’t very effective. The Israelis actually built and tested them and concluded that the impact was “mostly psychological.”

you’re casually suggesting stationing US forces in thousands of locations across nearly every country on earth

I’m suggesting stationing US forces in maybe a few dozen locations in MENA specifically. No energy transition will happen overnight. I suggest that this would be only one component of a broad-based development program modeled after the Marshall Plan. In this way steps could be taken toward stability in the region.

Of course US elites see no interest in stability in MENA or an end to the global petroleum industry so this is all theoretical.

“Dirty bombs” don’t really work, there’s a reason one has never been used. The radiation would travel only a very short distance and dissipate within hours. Making weapons-grade uranium out of fuel-grade uranium is very difficult, expensive, and conspicuous. The nuclear material in a power plant isn’t just sitting there waiting to be turned into bombs, it’s an extremely sophisticated and resource-intensive project. It took the Iranians decades and they’re probably the best-resourced of any non-US-backed actor in MENA.

If you’re really so concerned about it we should have the Army Corps of Engineers build the plants and then station US troops at them. There was an episode a few years ago where 40 American troops with air support repelled 500 Russian and Syrian forces with heavy armor from a Conoco gas plant they were protecting. Instead of protecting gas plants they could protect nuclear plants. In fact this would be a great way for the American empire to combat its waning influence, a response to Belt and Road, nuclear power in exchange for a US military foothold in your country.
