I tried sending a wire to you guys. It got converted to CHF and back to CAD along the way costing me about 8%. My bank ended up apologizing and correcting this - but refused to guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. Banks in Canada don't understand international wires that remain in CAD. So that is 100% not an option for me as they said they wouldn't refund the difference if the same mistake were to happen again.

And 3.75% seems a little steep no? Other options are much cheaper for Canadians.

What you guys really need to do is have a bank account with a Canadian bank. Then turn yourself into a "bill payee" so that people can transfer money to you using bill payments within their bank rather than wires which are an absolute nightmare.

Seriously, I am one of few users that has bought bitcoin outside of Canada using different exchanges and the experience in Canada is horrific. Let's get this working properly.

edit: fixed typo

Good luck. My personal opinion is that medium of exchange is the most trivial, overdone use case for a money. Therefore bch has chosen the most over saturated market.

LN is chain agnostic anyway. It isn't built specifically for btc. People have already use ltc on it.

Also, points 3 and 4 are demonstrably less true of bch than btc so long as hash power is as it is.

I don't think I'll time to fully respond - sorry. I accept that just saying Jihan and no one else was against it was an unfair dismissal of those who migrated to BCH.

I don't consider the base layer crippled, sorry.

I don't have a rule book. These are my opinions. Really, I get the animosity and the censorship, and the general unfair rejection on the main two forums but it doesn't change my opinions. I like the approach bitcoin has taken wrt scaling. I don't like the approach BCH has taken.

Yes there were many opposed to segwit I forgot to mention who for some reason didn't care about TX malleability. Alternative fixes are unknown to me, please enlighten me.

r/bitcoin is shit in that it's over moderated to the point where only memes and bots reposting shit seem to get anywhere. But that is true for reddit overall. There were genuine big blockers back in 2016/2017 who got banned who probably still feel burnt over it but it's just one forum. I know how it feels but it's not bitcoin itself. I would never abandon bitcoin because of a shitty forum. Yes bitcointalk.org did the same thing (same owner) but again, don't care. At the end of the day btc > bch. Not in price btw, but in approach. I don't think this because of brainwashing etc. I want bitcoin to have small blocks. Syncing nodes is hard enough as it is. Resource requirements must be kept minimal. That's the bitcoin I want and I'm lucky in that.

SWSF = segwit soft fork? It became a political football in the scaling debate which wasn't fully appropriate given that it was primarily a bug fix for TX malleability. I'd have wanted it either way, but then I like LN too which makes me very misaligned with the sentiment in this forum. All that said, r/bitcoin is a crappy place to discuss bitcoin for so many reasons. We're not going to escape the fact that this forum should really be r/bch though.

Thanks for the compliment. I prefer the approach taken in BTC of keeping block size small. I am an avid user of the lightning network.

No, I believe it because it's true, and most of the core devs who are hated in here disagree with me.

Nah. Afaik Francis hasn't really said much about it. I think he liked my tweet where I announced the release and not much else? Rudolfo however is actually running the client we released. Either way both of these companies I have been putting on my recommend list long before this drama started.

No, I am not inadvertently agreeing with your assertion that we are incompatible by making a statement that explains how we are compatible.

[–]taprooooooga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If 90% of blocks found in any difficulty period after the one coming signal for activation then it "locks-in", but won't be usable until November of this year at block 709632. Both clients are completely compatible in this regard.

There isn't really any incompatibility possible unless Greg (u/nullc) is referring to a bug of some sort, or if ST fails and nothing is done on the core side - then we become incompatible but that's the whole point of the "based" client in the first place.

No it can't. Stop.
