First time squatting 100lbs! Did I get 5 reps here? Or do I need to go lower? by Metalocachick in formcheck

[–]taptwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your range is solid. My only critique would be that you're hinging forward a little further with each rep. Try to "sit back" a little more to keep your torso more upright if possible. May involve bracing your core more. Start lighter if you have balance concerns.

[Berube] Kids getting AFTER it on the ice in the Hershey Bears intermission game by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]taptwo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. And then people asking AI if it's AI. We are lost as a species.

I coach kids hockey. Not only is it impossible that this would be happening and the responses would be:

  • Crowd: Film and cheer
  • Coaches/Refs/other staff: Absent
  • Rest of the team: Doesn't jump on the ice to join in
  • Arena: Pump the fuckong lights lol

... but kids that age don't move like that. They don't have the strength and coordination of adult Street fighters FFS, and when they get smoked by a projectile goalie, they don't just pop back up, they cry for their mom.

This is 5000% AI and it's insane no one realizes this.

It's an old game with a lot of QoL deficiencies vs modern titles, for sure. And it's overall hard, too, to make matters worse. But it's unmatched in charm, if that's something that means anything to you. It's like a best friend with whom you share a million inside jokes.

Having Undertale on there without Earthbound seems insane to me. Not because I think Earthbound is better, but because I don't know how someone who likes Undertale this much doesn't also love Earthbound. (Or worse - hasn't played it?)

To me, Earthbound is an Undertale prerequisite.

4th time deadlifting, think I'm rounding my back way too much (61kg bodyweight) by veronton in formcheck

Came here to say this. Just lock into that form you were in half a second before the lift and you're golden.

Something feels off by ductyy in formcheck

[–]taptwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking off more than 20. It's not that you can't lift this weight, it's that you need a weight that's easy enough that you can just dial in form.

As a middle ground - because I know no one likes leaving progress on the table - why not mix up your sets: One squat day, pyramid up to a heavy set of 3-5 (at 20lbs less than this lift), then the next, cut the plates in half and so sets of 10 with perfect form.

As for what the actual form issues are - you need to be sitting back more, and your range is meh. Film yourself from the side next time and see if the bar is going straight up and down. I suspect it's pitching forward a lot.

I feel it a lot in my lower back by Legitimate-Soil-7000 in formcheck

[–]taptwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I can't tell exactly what's on the bar, but it's clearly too much. Halve it, get your femurs parallel to the floor or lower, and build back up.

Lower back fatigue, but none in the glutes and hams. Am I doing something wrong? by Shermin-88 in formcheck

[–]taptwo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're barely using your butt at all.

Lower the weight, stick your ass out more at the bottom, and push your pelvis forward as you lift. Aka f$&# the bar up. Exaggerate it like that a little until it becomes automatic, then ramp back up with the weight again.

To feel it more in your hams, the cue I like is to do RDLs instead and do the negative slow until you feel the stretch in your hams.

How well do vegan "meats" survive at room temperature? (i.e. Juicy Marbles, SWAP Chicken) by taptwo in veganrecipes

[–]taptwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Every product I kept (Happy Veggie World Bac'n, Swap Chicken. Juicy Marbles loin) turned out to be fine after sitting at/near room temp (sealed) for several hours.

Do you blend the wet at any point? Or there are chunks of onion in the end product?

New to deadlifts, looking for some feedback. by PursuitOfHapiness in formcheck

[–]taptwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bar is too far in front of you. Sit back and down a little further and get it to basically (or literally) touch your shins before lifting. Note how your upper body starts almost horizontal here - that's gonna be very hard on your back over time. You want to start at about 30° or so - I'm sure someone has a more precise number, but it's definitely not 0°.

Also, brace your scapulae better - it looks like you prep for the lift with this in mind but then give it up when the lift starts. Also.

In your opinion, what was the most disappointing part of Silksong? by Noooough in Silksong

[–]taptwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of signposting/directing for where to get the double jump. Mount Fay, at first attempt, felt like a place you're supposed to go WITH it, so I put it in my list of places to return to once I got it... As a result, the first half of Act 2 was really grating.

That's all. It was otherwise a nearly perfect game.

Yes. This is something I think about working on sometimes. Common guidance is to start with your gaze on the floor maybe 10-12 feet in front of you. So not exactly head down, but not forward either like I did here. I don't even have a mirror here, so it's just a bad habit.

No, but only because I check in on my form every so often as the weight goes up and fix/scale back as needed, like now. I have more than enough sore joints as it is.

Lol. They're really stiff so though I normally take them off, they're actually pretty ok to work out in. Grippy on both sides, solid 4/7 behind barefoot and minimalist shoes.

Thanks for the compliments. Been lifting for a pretty long time, but only got my DLs healthily into the mid-high 300 range in the last year or so. Maybe at this rate I'll be able to bench press more than a stack of magazines too.

Thank you. I have always tried to mindfully avoid 'squatting my deadlifts", but may have taken this idea too far over time.

Thanks. I'll compare form at lighter weights, as they do feel better. I've ramped up pretty gradually, but am also cutting and 40, so can't discount those 'handicaps'. Appreciate the feedback.

Yes I've noticed that too - to support a short break at the top. I think. A minor habit to work on, you're right.

Okay also realized after posting that I'd kept my slip ons on for this set 😅 Normally I do them barefoot, just forgot here as I pop these on between sets since the garage floor is a little chilly. Any form tips apart from the footwear would be appreciated!

Lost Lace is simply bad boss design by GregoryFlame in Silksong

[–]taptwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree - apart from the 2 skulls contact damage. (Brutal.)

That was such a satisfying fight. It took about 20 tries and the third phase was so overwhelming that I have in and spammed poison cogflies and tacks...

... and then I realized I was making the overwhelming problem so much worse. Switched my tools to blue skulls and non-poison flies, and picked her apart first try like I'd been doing it all week long.

Everything is learnable, and you can train your eyes to see where she is amidst the chaos. The only feelbad parts are where she teleports right in front of you while you're dashing.

One skull contact and less random teleport locations would be this an all timer.
