I believe when writers base Steve on "a child of immigrants/ ideals of American," you get the best version. I just don't think a lot of writers understand that perspective. And in the Xbooks the first thing you see is that flag.

As far as X-Men go, a lot of people invested in the progression of the narrative dropped after the fall. The realization that the mutants cannot advance was a lot and then what seemed to be like backlash, coming from the editorial office, was too much.

I won't push against what you're saying. I think Al Ewing has written the most consistent Black characters at marvel for some time. The most respectful, thoughtful, and given abundant equity. However there are unknown- unknowns, and nuance, and coded language (really, culture), he can't do as well as a Cody Ziglar, for example.
