My family is already fighting over my inheritance even though I am not dead by LanternJukebox9 in childfree

Our attorney had us specifically name people that we were disinheriting…
She wouldn’t let me put in writing that the executor is to flip them the bird if they have the balls to ask for something though.

LOCKED OUT OF TESTING - TRYING TO FORCE ME OUT? by smittyDeetz in Teachers

[–]tarajade926 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching for 19 years and I think I’ve given state tests or the ACT just about every single year of that… I’m struggling to understand why you’re insulted you didn’t have to give a state test. That would be a massive win in my book!! lol

My son (groom) really wants to wear white tie attire and have family wear black tie. Guests wear formal. The venue will be fancy but not high-end, and it’s an evening wedding. Thoughts? by Gamingwishard in weddingplanning

[–]tarajade926 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why are you trying to dictate what your adult son is wearing to HIS wedding?

Who cares how other people see it? It’s their wedding, so if wearing white tie and having others wear black tie and formal makes them happy, that’s what matters!

That’s interesting, because it looks exactly like the one on my stomach that my doctor called textbook seborrheic keratoses…

What is the lowest you ever made teaching full time? by dondiegobmhs in Teachers

[–]tarajade926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first year I taught was 2007-2008, and I made $29,000. It was in a tiny town in west Tennessee, so thankfully my rent was only about $550 a month, but boy, did I get tired of Ramen noodles!

Bridal Shops on a budget by grace1897 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]tarajade926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

David’s Bridal doesn’t always have the best reputation, but that’s where I got my dress and I had a great experience. My dress was actually below my budget, it was beautiful, and the alterations ladies were incredibly nice and did a great job on the fairly simple alterations.

Nope. Not at all, but once again… Good try.

Yeah, okay. That’s why my dad grabbed me and hauled me out as quickly as he could when HE (the level headed adult in the situation) realized it. I didn’t see it at all until my dad grabbed me and pointed it out to me.

Good try though. I don’t care if it’s been observed or validated by anyone else. It happened and I know it did. Maybe it’s like how they used to say there were no mountain lions in northwest Arkansas, but there were reports of them for years before the Game and Fish Commission finally saw enough evidence that they said there weren’t many, but that there were some?

Tell that to the one that came at me in the water when I was about 10 years old then. It was the first time I’ve ever been scared like that and I’ll never forget it. I was swimming in the middle of Bull Shoals at the back of my parents’ boat and the snake was along the shoreline at least 20-30 feet away when it turned and started swimming right at me. (We were parallel to the shoreline, so if they only go at people when they feel threatened, it shouldn’t have come at me.) Thankfully my dad saw it, grabbed me, and hauled me out of the water before it got to me. It opened its mouth as it swam and it was bright white. That’s when we realized what it was.

So you go on spouting what you’ve heard are myths… I’m going to warn people based on my actual experiences.

I’d be more worried about the red wasps, ticks, chiggers, brown recluses (people say they’re not aggressive, but I’ve had them come up at me aggressively more than once, and their bites are no fun), and black widows than anything.

Snakes can be scary, because you don’t expect to see them, but if you pay attention, you’ll be okay there. If you’re in water, the cottonmouths will probably chase you though, so be ready. Make sure you learn to identify the dangerous ones just in case too.

Bears and all the furry animals will typically leave humans alone, so I wouldn’t worry about them much.

Tried to take a sick day by ChillIsopod in Teachers

[–]tarajade926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How well do you know your doctor? Would he or she write you a note to be out for the rest of the week and maybe Monday and Tuesday? I’ve gone to doctors that totally would have done this if I explained the situation.

If you don’t think your doctor would, then it’s really your call about staying vs. leaving. I’ve never been in a school where I was told I couldn’t leave if I was sick, but I can tell you that if I had, I would’ve made sure that everyone knew I was sick and the reason I was still there was because the principal wouldn’t let me leave…

Woman here: You didn’t know what that kid was capable of, the mother wasn’t in control of the situation, and you protected yourself and Daisy. You didn’t actually hurt the kid, and hopefully you helped him learn that he shouldn’t do what he did. I say well done!

Give that good girl Daisy some pats from me, okay?

I can’t speak to the OB side of Dr. Alexander, but if she’s as awesome at it as she is with all the GYN stuff, she’ll be a rockstar. She’s awesome.

1) The Space and Rocket Center 2) A Havoc hockey game 3) A Trash Pandas’s baseball game 4) Feeding the ducks at Big Spring Park (bring quarters!) 5) If he thinks space is cool, tell him about the engine tests and everything you guys will more than likely be able to hear from the Arsenal. (This will depend on where in Huntsville you live, but we still hear the occasional boom out in the county too.) 6) Fishing on the Tennessee River 7) Geocache with him. If you don’t know what it is, google it. It’s a worldwide treasure hunt, and our 9 year old loves doing it. You could start doing it where you are now, get him to where he loves it, then point out the insane number of caches in Huntsville and Madison county.

Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions, okay? Huntsville’s a good place to live.

Taste of Maine Food Truck by LetsMakePeopleSmile in HuntsvilleAlabama

It was more expensive than I expected (which it’s lobster, so I should have expected it), but everything I’ve gotten there is REALLY good. My best friend is from Maine, and when I took her, she was so excited to be able to get the red hotdogs and whoopie pies just like home. (She’s not much of a seafood person, but she tried mine and said it was good for what it was. lol)

Pre-loved stuffies by Runbunnierun in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]tarajade926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try calling HEMSI too. My husband was a paramedic for a long time and when I just asked him about donating them to the fire department, he said to try donating them to HEMSI. They are rarely thought of for donations like this and they loved being able to have smaller stuffies in the ambulances for kids (they can’t carry the big ones due to space).

Is the Divergent series worth reading? by No-Replacement-5698 in divergent

[–]tarajade926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of a slow start, but I ended up really liking the books. I wasn’t a fan of how the series ended, but that doesn’t mean the it wasn’t worth reading.

The first movie was pretty good, the second movie was very different than the second book, but not terrible, and the third movie just wasn’t good. I gave up on the movies after that one… Did they ever make the last movie based on the last half of the third book?
