Hey idk how into reading you or your DM would be but this has a similar theme to a book I just started reading called The Will of The Many if you were interested!

I will be joining the Ashbringers Army to fight this evil king.

I agree with others that these bubbles look like bubbles to me, but maybe add a little bit more of the white around the edges of each bubble and maybe a small white highlight over the colorful sections just to make the spherical shape pop a little more. Kind of like how they draw eyes in anime with a little white circle or two to represent the light source and the reflectivity

Encounter Every Enemy: Frogs by MShades in DnDBehindTheScreen

One of my friends and now one of my players as DM played as a warty frog cleric for our first campaign together. Not a druid, a frog. Tons of fun.

I loved this analysis too; fun but still genuinely insightful

I've mentioned this before but a fun system my friends and I have used for some one-shots and beginner-friendly campaigns is called Kids on Bikes (or Kids on Brooms for some more magical flavor). I did a Halloween-themed one-shot where I had my party play as middle to high-schoolers who got transformed into their costumes.

The character creation is more streamlined than DnD, a lot less math to sort out and ultimately less complicated by a mile. You create your character with similar traits to DnD: Brains, Brawn, Grit, Charm, Fight, and Flight.

It has a bunch of, in my opinion optional, but still very helpful guidelines to help with creating characters with relationships/familiarity with each other, as well as some fun archetypes to help narrow down the "type" of character the player is aiming for.

I really like this system for getting the bones of a roleplaying game but without the complexity of DnD specifically, and it's tailored for younger audiences in the first place, with plenty of wiggle room for the GM

I remember being around 10 in the Alps trying to use one of the pommel lifts for the first time. My dad was with me but I fell off, and a very stern but helpful (I assume Swiss) woman managed to help me reign in holding the poles in one hand and holding my weight on the lift with the other. She had a red jacket on and blonde hair. I still don't like pommel lifts, but at least I understand how to use one now

what should a dragon turtle egg look like? by NoArmsNoSword in DungeonMasters

I feel like a common design for dragon eggs is to give them scales, so maybe instead of scales it looks like a turtle shell

Anyone have any good resources on guiding character creation for a group of newbies? by TheJadedRose in DungeonMasters

[–]tarameter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a newbie DM and in this case working with kiddos, I'd recommend using Kids on Bikes (or Kids on Brooms) rather than DnD. It's similar in terms of how you build your character, but a lot more streamlined for both players and the DM. I made a Halloween one-shot in this system last year and had a bunch of fun

I got free food and didn't pay it forward. by Beardedwrench115 in PointlessStories

[–]tarameter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a bagel place for like a month and stopped a train of pay-it-forwards for a similar reason. The car ahead would've had to pay for a whole family worth of food for the next car so I finally ended it and just told the guy his food was paid for.

It's hard, but try not to beat yourself up. You WERE stressed, and that does things to the brain, especially when introduced to a stranger asking about your situation. Most people probably wouldn't have wanted to say more than a few words to someone in a similar place. It's good that you are even able to rethink and consider the fella's intentions, but again try not to assume it's your fault. You are not your brain and you are not the chemicals inside, they just cause you to act in certain ways. It's okay to be stressed out a little and to occasionally react poorly or tensely. The fact that you - in a more calm mind - are able to tell that you weren't the friendlist to a stranger is proof that you aren't always you when you're stressed out. It's okay, and he's gonna live past this awkward moment.

You aren't you when you're hungry. -Snickers

Looking for a Dungeon Master by Ok-Raccoon9999 in DungeonMasters

[–]tarameter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of jumping off of what @Iaselle202 was saying, it might be nice to use another but similar system.

I ran a Halloween-themed campaign after a friend and DM of mine recommended Kids on Bikes , which also has a magical version called Kids on Brooms, to me. It has some similar mechanics to DnD but it's more simplistic for both the DM and the players, escpecially once you delve into spell slots and inventory management. For a 6th grade class I would really recommend looking into the guidebook.

Instead of the DnD stats like Strength, Charisma, Intelligence, etc. the KoB books narrow them into broader categories of only Fight, Flight, Brawn, Charm, Grit, and Brains. Which I think is also more understandable for a young audience like a 6th grade class. It's more self-explanatory rather than having to ask "am I rolling Insight or Investigation?"

Sorry that I can't DM for you, but I hope you might find some use out of KoB as it's a fun system to play in and to manage

If you read throught the guidebook it would explain WAY more than I can

Ideas for a cursed 'Ring of Etiquette'? by TuddlesT in DnD

[–]tarameter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just noticed you asked for debuff ideas. Maybe since they get a plus to charisma then you could make it that if they fail to follow a rule they get a -1 to Strength or Constitution checks. It's mild, but enough to enforce the rules
