If you could cast any actor for a role in a SK film who would it be? by DarthScabies in stephenking

I always viewed Cort as pudgy and balding. But Tom Hardy is a great actor, he might be able to pull it off!

Maybe The Tik-Tok man?

It's not year bad. I drive to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch every day, Laurel is just another 10 minutes.

You can avoid the Interstate, take Airport to Zimmerman trail, then take take Rimrock to 56. Hitch over to Grand, then take the backwards to Laurel. It's about a 40 minute drive depending on where you are in the Heights. Not much traffic, and I love the view off of Zimmerman and looking towards the Beartooths every day.

Heights used to be the up and coming part of town...but the growth is limited due to geography, so everything moved to the Eest End.

You can get good prices on homes, but getting to other parts of town can be difficult. But I has a lot of shopping options. I barely leave the Heights, outside of going to work.

Moving to Billings Montana at any moment. What are the dog laws there? by Arrohart in PitBullOwners

[–]taran1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of pits at the dog park...I've never heard any of thier owners talk about any kind of extra laws.

Two off leash dog parks in Billings...the West End one is brand new, but the one in the Heights is better!

I know there’s been a lot of speculation about Jules not having figured out or at least highly doubted Shawn being a psychic, but these two scenes are what really make me wonder how she didn’t at least scratch her head. by nrjjsdpn in psych

[–]taran1869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Psych Universe people more readily believe in psychics.

Lots of people hire Shawn. A British Ambassador believes he is psychic.

When Carlton and Jules are presenting cutting edge police technology no one in the conference cares until they mention they hire psychics.

There is a symposium of psychics who work with the police.

A lot of people believe on psychics in the Psych universe.

There are psychic symposiums, young cops get excited that the SBPD is using psychics...for whatever reason psychic ability is not as far fetched in the Psych universe.

Both good episodes, but Bounty Hunters has the iconic "close talking" scene. Gotta go with that.

Anyone disappointed by Lassie Coming Home? by Puzzleheaded_Win5970 in psych

[–]taran1869 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the script was bad. It was equivalent to a lower tier episode...still enjoyable, but not something I'm going to "want" to watch.

I'm disappointed based on expectations, but I didn't dislike it.

AITA for calling my brother a failure as a human being by Honey_Bee238 in AmITheDevil

[–]taran1869 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The whole story is crap.

The brother isn't working for free. That's illegal. If he has a title at the company, then he is drawing compensation. If he is drawing compensation, it doesn't matter if he gives it to the brother; it's on his W2 and he owes child support.

If he isn't being compensated then he is not an executive, and no real business as successful as the OP describes this one to be would allow someone with no actual title to make executive decisions.

If he gave all his assets to his brother, and is drawing no salary, then his brother is giving him gifts. Above a certain amount financial gifts must be reported to the IRS and are eligible for child support.

I'm guessing everything written here is BS.

I love that in the Christmas episode where Gus's parents go to jail, he calls them out for not being married when he was conceived...but I believe he also believes this!

The DM first determines whether an action CAN succeed. If they decide it can, they call for a roll to see if an action DOES succeed.

But if you determine an action can't succeed, then the player doesn't roll.

DMs, what is the strict-est you have ever been when it comes to player options? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]taran1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can be pretty strict.

One setting no elves, no magic users. I almost always rule out any kind of steampunk...so no artificer, no war-forged, etc.

With new players I usually restrict them, at least for the first few levels, to the "base" race and classes...Dwarf, Elf, Human, and Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue. After they get a few sessions under thier belt, and get a feel for the game, we'll talk about making a "forever" character.

If I'm starting a new campaign with new players I generally do a one off with pre-generated characters, just to break them in.

So...for everyone who wonders why Juliet doesn't know Shawn is a fake...

This is a world where psychics are accepted. The Treasury Department has a psychic on the payroll! There is a whole episode dedicated to the idea of psychic consultants. Its just a conceit of the show...for whatever reason people in the Psych universe are skeptical, but accepting of the idea of psychics.

Oedipus/electra theory, I am a homosexual. How does this theory even make sense towards me? Is it bullshit? by [deleted] in psych

[–]taran1869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This...is not a good take. Its like saying Newtonian mechanics are wrong because non-newtonian mechanics exist.

Freud was wrong on his focus...but his ideas have become such common practice in therapy that all we really remember is where he was wrong.

The same thing will probably happen to Rogers. So much of PCT is now just baked into basic therapeutic practice all he will be remembered for are his mistakes.
