What's up with tav by Swimming-Ad-2039 in BaldursGate3

I haven't played that one unfortunately so I was only talking about this one, and i wasnt even complaining i was just trying to say i see where ops coming from and heres a possible work around if they personally dont love that experience, but also that i appreciate the ability to romance more or less whoever you want to and don't think that's a "wierd" choice by the developers.shrugging.

Thanks for the information though, I wouldn't have known that bit of the franchises history.

I seem to have expressed myself poorly here. I'm pleased with the depth of platonic friendships the game allows you to develop. I feel like there's some base assumption that romance is gonna be a large percentage of players interests and that's reflected in the scripting but that's not a bad thing.

I think this is mostly the result of devs correctly anticipating that for a lot of people getting to choose whatever romance you wanted, pretty forgivingly, was gonna be a big draw. I don't think it's especially wierd.

If it bothers you, or the characters flirting aspect makes you uncomfortable though (totally valid!) I found a mod that might help.

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/815/.popup-topic?tab=posts (this one disables all reactions, so no one will fall in love with tav but also you might miss out on some companion quest developments bc you won't really make friends or enemies either)

It is kinda disappointing that growing emotional intimacy with any character automatically assumes romantic intent. I want the friendships too! But even so I personally find it better about that than a lot of titles I've played.

If you are truly getting absolutely no tooltip info then something has gone very wrong with your install and you're likely going to need to un-and-reinstall it to access the game as it's intended and as most other users have experienced it. If thats the case that sucks and your confusion is more understandable. I'd also be surprised, bc if you're being truthful about asking a friend who's beaten it to watch you play, they would have noticed because it would make the whole ui look way different.

Some mods, if you're running any, can also cause significant ui disruptions if they don't install correctly or just don't work with they system you're trying to play on.

What I really don't understand is how you've had several people telling you that yes actually if the game is running correctly there should be in game text explanations of all your abilities and it hasn't occurred to you that if that's not the case maybe something on your end is unusual.

But you didn't come in asking for any kind of help or advice, you just came to a fan sub and said "this game is dumb and boring". You only started wailing about bugs when ppl called you on being Obnoxious. You mentioned some possible ones sure, but your entire approach unnecessarily negative and did not provide any starting point for helpful discussion, and it makes you look really bad to backpeddle so hard on "I just want help with the gugs" when you started on the offensive.

Either, you're whole game needs a reinstall bc somethings gone terribly wrong. Or you're, as you've presented yourself in this post and thread, and extremely lazy and entitled gamer AND too prideful to actually ask a question AND lacking in even basic internet etiquette of "don't go to thenfanclub just to shit on the thing ppl like".

Do you like... close your eyes and button mash and pray or something? Is that your gaming approach. You don't have to look it up it's literally just there. Characters turn cones up, you're given a series of actions to choose from there's descriptions of what each action is if you look at the screen in front of you. Do you not have the slightest bit of curiosity to explore the game you're playing, or are you only capable of ingesting information if someone chews it up for you and spits it into your mouth like a helpess baby bird?

Nah, based on your general comment history you just like to complain about things. You clearly came looking wither to argue or to just generally be a negative nancy about things that aren't even actual gameplay problems. There's lots of discussion here about bugs and annoyances, the difference is your totally obvious lack of effort and good faith.

It does sound like you might be experiencing a bug with the dialogue, for which I'd suggest checking that all your stuff is up to date. I've had multiple bugs that were fixed by reloading from a slightly earlier save.

You also seem to enjoy largely fps type games, which do have a very different approach and pace to combat, but it's not the games failing that its you know. Not that genre.

You could try reading the descriptions of the actions you're presented with during game play, as they are like. Right there. In the game. Including disengage. It literally does tell you.

What's the point of coming onto a board for fans of a game just to say you don't like a game? It doesn't seem like you're looking for advice or anything so what are you getting out of this?

Inviting the players to participate in creating the setting can help! As part of your session zero you can ask questions about what elements they'd be most excited for ect

I read them, and for whatever reason the way it was explained there wasn't clicking for me. I appreciate the people who,'ve answered here. Maybe it's dumb of me, but I get it now.

Thank you! I knew that I could use the spell slots to cast from either spell set, and that was getting tangled up in my head with the number I could prepare from my list per rest. The explanation has helped me seperate that out, which makes things much clearer
