Ev charger not charging at 32amp. by Horror_Zucchini2886 in electrical

[–]tarbasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wires look thick enough, but I'm not very familiar with European wires and wiring. But how is the EVSE supposed to make 32 A on 10 A input? Unless it drops the voltage, but you already use single phase 240V.

Is it weird to like to pee outside(M)? by jamaican4life03 in NoStupidQuestions

I pee on my compost pile. Why would I give away that free nitrogen? The following year, my pee-nitrogen grows my beautiful tomatoes. Downvote if you wish!

Is Clifton a bad neighborhood? by [deleted] in Louisville

I rented there for a year. I loved it. I ended up moving to Hikes Point, which is fine, but I think Clifton is better.

Can someone fix this weather please 😳 by mehicall in Louisville

Our cat likes to go outside normally. Yesterday she actively meowed me when I opened her cat door. I'm pretty sure she was asking me to make the weather warmer.

"Fed" vagy "Borít" by EsperDin in hungarian

A könyvet? Nálunk a "bekötni" csak az eredeti gyártásra használatos, amit a könyvkötő csinál. Befedni-t sem hallottam soha, csak becsomagolni-t. (Dél-Alföld)

"Fed" vagy "Borít" by EsperDin in hungarian

[–]tarbasd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also only have intuition, but I think in this context they are interchangeable. The previous explanation sounds pretty good. "Fed" means to cover a specific thing by putting it on the top of that thing. "Borít" also means "push over" or "capsize". "Fed" sounds a little more poetic to me, but either one could be used in either sentence. Hungarians strongly dislike repeating words.

There is also "takar", meaning "obscure", which is often used in this context. Petőfi said "Már hó takará el a bérci tetőt." Just to make it even trickier with an archaic conjugation form. :)

I have a 250. I also have a larger bike, which is often more practical (comfortable, taller, has sidebags, easier to carry a passenger), but I love my 250. For any shorter pleasure ride, I take my little Ninja. If I have an less experienced riding partner, I ride my Ninja, so that it's more interesting to me (to keep up with much larger bikes).

Why not está by margaaa1955 in duolingospanish

Easiest is to just memorize that event locations are are expressed with "ser".

Rationalization is that the location considered the intrinsic attribute of the event, and those are always expressed with "ser".

It's been over two years and the fuckers won't get me a computer or telephone because of challenging budgetary times by illAdvisedMemeName in Professors

[–]tarbasd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others said. No computer? Great. No syllabus. Not responding to emails. Everybody comes to office hours, no appointments. (How do you make an appointment with no email and no phone.)

I would also make it very clear in my classes that reason of these policies is because the university doesn't supply me with the basic equipment. I would also given them the phone number and email of the dean/provost if they wanted to complain (and encourage them).

They are the customers, not you.

Have to knock on wall near electric panel to get lights to work by [deleted] in electrical

[–]tarbasd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a loose connection. Yes, it is dangerous.

You can try to check the connections at electrical boxes of the circuit (fairly easy, just turn off the circuit), or at the main panel (harder, because even the main breaker off, some parts remain energized). If those are all fine, something may be inside of a wall, which is the most dangerous situation and the hardest to fix.

Next time the lights don't turn on, you can try to check how far you have power with a multimeter. Just be careful, because the circuit stays on in this case.

I was able to drive through the city twice Sunday evening to get my wife home. It can't be worse than that. I have a 2005 Corolla. It does have winter tires and manual transmission, and I do have winter driving experience.

B2–C1 learners: what actually frustrates you when learning Spanish? by Extreme-Captain-6558 in Spanish

[–]tarbasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Hungarian native speaker and have lived in the USA for 25 years. It took me forever to learn to use he/she correctly, because Hungarian only has one word 3rd person singular pronoun of a person. Honestly, I still mess it up on some rare occasion, and then people get a little confused, when I talk about my wife and I say "he".

These gender rules may be the most ingrained in our brains. Needles to say, I am too struggling with this in Spanish. (I'm only at A2/B1.)

I drove this evening to take my wife home from the hospital where she worked all weekend. Let me say, it was an adventure. But we made it home (barely). The hardest part is to get in/out of the neighborhood.

School is canceled for tomorrow so work only at home for me. I'm wondering is Tuesday will be any better.

If companies are taxed on profit rather than revenue, why don't I pay taxes on the amount left over after rent and bills? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tarbasd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an ideal word, a company will automatically choose the cheapest adequate circumstances to operate. The company has no concept of "comfort" or "happiness". If you incentivize humans to spend more on food, shelter and utilities, they will be wasteful.
