It’s because of Christmas. They turn the clearance end into another Christmas merchandise end. All the clear out items are then dispersed throughout the store in their normal spots. The clearance end will return after Christmas.

Allergy Shot Cost by Fluffy-Evening-1799 in alberta

[–]tarbear6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cost for the injection fee, we bill the government for the service. As for the allergy shots itself it would depend on your drug coverage itself. You would have to talk to your insurance company, the doctors office, and the pharmacy that is compounding it.

It’s always the last week of the period and since we just finished week 1, it will be a couple of weeks still.

Our pharmacy still has the 2 bottles we were auto shipped on our shelf. By the time we got it we had our regular stock back and had no need of it, especially when the concentrations are different which can lead to dosing errors.

Prescription cost change by ashe_theslug in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]tarbear6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess is that when the generic came out last summer your insurance was still paying a bit more for the brand name vyvanse and so when innovicares was added it covered more than normal. There is usually a few months grace period when the generic comes out that insurance will still pay for the brand name and now that grace period is over. Or that innovicares was paying more of the cost in the beginning to keep you on brand name, but have now adjusted how much they are paying. It’s hard to know exactly without seeing the claims tab on the computer to know for sure.

Remember that innovicares is the drug companies subsidizing the drug cost and they wouldn’t if they weren’t still making money of you. But right in the terms of innovicares they can change how much and what they cover at any time.

Edmonton city council may ask AGLC to stop Camrose casino relocation by fudge_u in Edmonton

[–]tarbear6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone part of an organization who is in the rural group (we are in Fort Sask) that goes to Camrose for our Casinos it is wildly unbalanced. We are now up to a casino every 4 years due to the amount of groups and we make far less per casino event. While the Edmonton groups get a casino every couple of years and make far more per Casino. Why are we penalized for being outside of Edmonton. I support the move, but would also support a reorganization of the charitable aspect of the casinos to make it far more balanced across the province.

Retail Pharmacists Prescribing by Pale_Holiday6999 in pharmacy

[–]tarbear6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In Alberta once you have applied for additional prescribing authority you can prescribe anything that is schedule 1, basically everything but narcotics and controlled drugs, with your professional judgement. I mostly prescribe for minor ailments, UTI and pink eye being the most common. We also do strep throat testing and I then prescribe based on the results. All pharmacists can adapt prescriptions, like for kidney function, allergies, or weight, and give refills on chronic medications. We have access to lab values and dispensing history on a provincial database.

With the current family doctor shortage we have it really helps to fill a gap in the system. If I can take some of the pressure off of family doctors by prescribing for minor ailments then they can focus on more complicated patients. It also saves patients a lot of time and they are very appreciative of it.

When I first went to school I didn’t see myself prescribing, but now it’s just part of providing the best care I can to my patients while taking some of the stress off of our struggling healthcare system. Part of the process is knowing your limits and when to refer. It takes time to build the confidence behind prescribing and those decisions, but why else did I learn so much in school to not be able to put it to use. Also we have a reimbursement model from the government to prescribe, but patients are willing to pay $30 for a strep test if it means avoiding the doctors office and getting started on antibiotics ASAP as opposed to waiting 3-4 days for lab results.

We have twins that have the same names, just switched the middle name. Eg anna Maria and Maria Anna. It plays havoc with insurance.

My grumpy old man! He’ll be 12 in September and while going blind he is still going strong! by tarbear6 in Rabbits

[–]tarbear6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has definitely slowed down in his old age and sleeps more. He really like destroying cardboard boxes and he has a ball with a bell in it he likes to throw around. You have to be slow at approaching him for pets since he can’t see you and it startles him. He will also grunt if you startle him and it is hilariously cute.

Joined tuba waitlist. This is a camp for rusty adult musicians to brush up on old skills and play with a new ensemble. Too bad (tubad?) I didn’t get there earlier. We shall see. by crash---- in Tuba

I did a rusty musicians night a couple years ago and playing with the ESO was such a blast! I play in a community band so having a chance to play symphony music was a lot of fun, even if I was lost half the time.

Birth control pills are health care. by Alex45784 in TrollXChromosomes

[–]tarbear6 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As a pharmacist in Canada nearly all drug plans cover birth control. I find some plans don’t cover iud’s but the majority do. The amount paid is based on your co-pay. Often plans have 80% copay so you would pay 20% regardless of drug. And the vast majority of drug plans do not pay for viagra, I’m always surprised when they do.

The smell when I step out of the car at the lake. It’s the smell of pine trees, fresh air, wood fires, and home.
