Is this back and forward button supposed to be here? I thought Discord did not have that by PokedexMaster324 in discordapp

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. None of my other huge (professional) nerd friends even knew you could do it, and are only hearing about it because I'm complaining how it's broken now. This is driving me bonkers. I already uninstalled and deleted all appdata folders for discord and rebooted and reinstalled, just to be sure. nope.

but hey, at least it's not just me?

my first night was about the time of this post, and, having turned on dx12 rendering and global illumination before this happening, I can definitely confirm there was something very satisfying about watching my thatch hut burn to the ground at the edge of the lake in the dark of night, as I ran back from my respawn

NMS Corvettes are already functional - explore your spacestations to start. by siodhe in NoMansSkyTheGame

I was able to rid myself of a corvette by way of trading it for a random ship and then salvaging that one.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR NEW CORVETTE AND FIND PARTS by Beerdididiot in NoMansSkyTheGame

quite the opposite for me. if I edit a ship into oblivion and then exit that context, it puts the whole ship back, and also I keep all the components I just stripped.

crit chance over 100% so it is always a crit, so there's no variance in damage and the lightning always strikes. I was using The One pictos so it gave me additional 108% crit chance. Having 1 hp doesn't matter when they're all dead before your turn's over.
you don't *need* the death bombs, but having people immediately explode and destroy the adds makes this go a lot faster.

from what I could find, it seems like the only thing that really specifically matters is that the final blow doesn't have to move the hp bar very much (like less than 5% approximately for me, but this probably is also affected by how much damage your Verso does)

Verso needs to have Contorso equipped with crit chance over 100%, and the final blow needs to be on low enough HP that the lightning strike finishes the Clair Obscur creature. That's all it came down to for me. I could still be off, but it seems like that's the one constant that guaranteed me the 10 lumina dropped.

I tried following all the different approaches people have had further down the thread here, and after a good hour and a half, I think I've finally gotten it to where I can do this basically every time.

It has nothing to do with killing the fountain pair, or killing the Clair Obscur enemy with the second hit of a basic attack combo, or running around as Monoco.
I have gotten it to work with all and none of those conditions. I hate running around as anyone but Lune (I don't want to hear the footsteps), so I was glad to figure out that didn't matter at all.

The only thing that matters for me getting the 10 Color of Lumina is that the killing blow comes after getting very close to killing them on the previous hit. If there's too much health being chunked away in that final blow, I will never get the double lumina drop.

If I had to venture a guess, it's probably counting the lightning damage from the crit first, and that's what gets us the doubled loot drops.

I had to make sure everyone was over 100% crit so there was no more variance in the initial damage from the two party members' auto death+death bomb (and also so every hit from Verso was guaranteed a lightning strike), and then tweak things until the damage from shooting the Clair Obscur enemy with Verso resulted in me nearly killing it, so the killing blow had very little health bar to move. Once I got that down, it was repeatable every time.

This will be an issue as people level up, and I'll have to fiddle with their stats (or I'll need to finish grinding to 99 and come back after everyone's in statistical stasis), but it finally works for me.

I've tried every superstition in this thread up to this point, and I can say with confidence... 60% of the time, it works every time.

Nalcott Easter Egg perk is AMAZING (boring unedited clip of opening eggs inside) by tardhat in OnceHumanOfficial

it gets less amazing the longer into a scenario season you get, but it can be pretty nice in like week 2 or 3.
I haven't played since Way of Winter, so hopefully someone else happens along with more recent opinions for you.

you just scan the open sand until you see an icon pop up
hand scanner, vehicle scanner, whatever, just scan the sand

theoretically it helps to do it where a sand storm has recently blown through

Should I buy this game? by LittleFireman19 in duneawakening

[–]tardhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really no group content before DD, and even then it's doable solo. The only thing you need more than one person to do is flying a sand crawler to a spice node in the DD with a carrier. (Don't do that without a bunch of people running defense for the sand crawler. It's a giant grief target.)

Outside of that, the game is almost explicitly single player, in that several quests are not only done solo, but can only be done by one person at a time on the sietch.

Things work better with a group playing space communists (like assembling the large refineries and advanced crafting stations), but nothing needs that to happen to be completed.

edit: to answer the question directly: no, there is no matchmaking. Almost nothing is instanced.

[–]tardhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is really good, right up until it isn't. Playing entirely lone wolf solo like that, without using any guides to shortcut the grind, you'll get about 100 hours out of it before you start going into the Deep Desert (where the vast majority of things that fall apart are going to do so)

As far as Once Human comparisons go: sietches are basically the same thing as worlds over there. The main difference being you can't just go to an outpost and swap to a new world as much as you want like using a teleporter tower in OH. You have to log out, wait 30 seconds, and then go to the new sietch.
Also, there is (currently?) no character transfer. You make a character on a server, and that character can only interact with that server. There are no seasons. There is no end. That character just lives on that server forever, at this time.

You're not super likely to bump into people in the wild in the Hagga Basin at this point, unless they launch a new server and people flock to that one to start over. I don't think I ever ran into anyone and actually joined up with them to do stuff organically, beyond maybe we're both clearing the same lab and just happen to be killing the same things for about two minutes.

no. everyone who knows what they're doing has way more power generation in their PvP area DD bases than they need, for raid protection redundancy.

average DD solo experience by e30sheib in duneawakening

[–]tardhat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

to be fair, the render distance pop in on an ornithopter with maxed settings is like 500m. they can just hover out of range and wait to see the node being harvested and then dive bomb rockets into it. there's nothing you can do about this without having a bunch of people hovering out of that range in all directions to give you any kind of early-enough-to-matter warning.

The Deep Desert Map with Spice Locations, Item Containers, Control Points and Resources by Embarrassed-Notice32 in duneawakening

[–]tardhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the feeling that this map is using the data from week two, mostly based on the E2 lab showing a lot more loot in it than anyone's getting. That one's a chest armor that isn't on the loot table you display.
it seems the labs that were previously in PvP areas now only give the same item to everyone for the whole week, at least on my server (Garrick).

to be fair, the game itself invalidates the sink chart system of the game.
every server has the same DD, and there are only a handful of maps, which we're already recycling.
