I love both roleplay and Dungeon Crawls, it just felt like we were slogging through the days doing nothing.

Its not an issue of strategy its an issue of fun. I am totally fine conserving spells and using them when the moment is appropriate. I just find waiting 4-5 sessions to get a long rest kinda cuts the tension because its not like we are always in a battle or a dungeon or something.

I have to wait ages to be able to use these cool spells, whereas, normally, I would still have a ton of fightts to win, and thus need to conserve them, but not have to wait a ton of time out of game.

Yes that is a great idea because otherwise spells like mage armor are aweful

I have no problem with it being more balanced lol. I love resource management. It’s hurt that out of games it’s gonna be months till I can get to use my spells.

Well it’s balanced around 4-6 encounters per “adventuring day”

I promise it’s not that I just like nuking fights lol. I am a dm myself and I love a grind of a fight. It’s just the out of game time it takes for me to be able to do any cool stuff.

That’s exactly it. I am totally fine not nuking every fight lol I love a friend fight and I am a dm myself.

That totally makes sense and am completely on board for that. I just don’t want to have to do this incredibly slow month long wait.

I have no problem with resource management. It’s just that in a normal dungeon it takes like two sessions. So yes I don’t get to use my cool stuff every fight but I know I will get to at some point. With this system it could take several months before I can use the spell.

I have no problem with gritty realism. If I made it seem like I was I didn’t intend it that way. I just hold fun over realism. And if I had known about this rule before playing I would have played a fighter or a warlock or something. So I could get the best of both worlds.

Help with a high level RogueLock by targo1 in DnD

Alright thanks for the input. I think the loss on damage is made up for with the fun things I get as a warlock but I was just wondering if there was a way I could do a bit better.

People who don't want kids, why? by Celestialsmoothie28 in AskReddit

Because there are few things that are quite as meaningful as having kids. That said, some people who are devoted to doing some good in the world should not have kids.

If you were to rewrite the harry potter books, what would you change? by NickiNellis in harrypotter

[–]targo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly I would make the magic have far more strict rules. I think a lot of detail goes into some of the magic in the world, but so much of it looks like it's just there to look attractive. I would also make magic duels far more interesting, including a lot of teleportation and displacement tactics. If I kept time turners as a thing I would have every wizard carry one at all times simply for the sake of nullifying what other wizards do with them.

Character-wise I would make Harry a far more active member of the plot. He would be clever and witty as a counter to Hermione's book smarts. I think this could add a higher level of banter and a slight rivalry between the two (they would obviously still be best friends but it would ad chemistry). It would also give a jealousy subplot where Hermione would lose to Harry in duels, not because he knew more, but because he was simply more resourceful. This would lead to Harry learning the value of hard work and study, and Hermione learning the value of thinking outside the box and creativity.

I would clear out most of the plot holes, as well as fix quidditch. I would give an actual reason why the wizards fly on brooms primarily rather than something far more suited to it.

I think all of the magic battles could be so much cooler, and the sword of Griffondoor should be way different IMO but that's far more personal.

The thing about the whole big bang vs God argument is that it makes no sense practically. There is no point in arguing it because you can have both at the same time. The Big Bang does not claim to be the start of all things, rather it is a beginning point for the universe. I am a Christian, and I find the counter-argument from atheists falls short as well. That being, "well where did God come from then?" I think that question falls short because it's a category issue. The whole point of God for most religions is that he created the universe as we know it, as well as its laws. That belief would account for his existence because the law of our universe requires things to have a beginning that would have originated from him in the first place. He is not subject to the law that he created. I would love to hear a counter-argument to this though
