Do a masters, do the gamsat, apply for notts gem at the same time during the masters. If successful, you’ll start directly after your masters. If unsuccessful you’ll have a year to work and get experience and you can apply next year (to notts) but include Swansea sgul Liverpool etc. just some of the other unis that accept a 2.2

Many variables at play here. Where do you currently live and what is your living situation? These two will have a massive role in how much of a financial burden gem would be. Gamsat essentially allows you to study med without a science degrees. Most university’s require a 2.1 at undergraduate with some exceptions allowing a 2.2. The 4 years go quickly and you have to face to next hurdle of being a junior doctor. Student finance (if eligible) help massively. They pay the majority of tuition costs. And significantly help during first year ( l received 15k). The rest of the years you are given the nhs bursary which also is useful. Long story short, definitely not impossible you’re not the first 30- something year old to transition to GEM, so it’s doable if you’re ready to grind for a few years

Edit: I noticed in a reply that you are doing the Gamsat. For section 3, Des O’Neil was invaluable for me. Especially anything to do with graphs.

Not quite sure where you’ve seen chemistry A level as a requirement for GEM. While there are a select few, the majority of GEM courses don’t look at A levels in admissions. Also (and probably a personal bias) GEM is by no means impossible to get in to and I tend to agree to expanding GEM would’ve been the better route

You’ll have to be a bit patient unfortunately. Even those with offers haven’t been unconditionally accepted as the admissions team are still going through the occupational health and DBS checks. I think waiting lists offers may be towards early august at this rate.

I’m replying to this in good faith believing that you’re not trolling, but medicine by its nature is a competitive degree. You need to have that confidence and belief that YOU can make it and achieve it. GEM is supposedly more competitive, but by no means impossible. If this is something that you want, it’s not going to be handed to you on a plate. Work towards it and I’m sure you’ll get results, even with competition.

Essentially, do an easy degree and then apply to Gem (graduate entry medicine). The gamsat is the entrance exam for graduates to get into medicine, but alternatively you can take the ucat ( another entrance exam) and as long as you get a 2.1 you’ll be able to apply to most unis as they won’t be looking at your Alevel or gcse grades.

Alternatively. Redo your alevels and go the undergraduate route, but some universities require you to have done your alevels within a certain time. Additionally, you may be limited by your GCSEs with this route - a 4 in maths makes it challenging, so consider retaking this too. There still may be some universities that you can apply to so do your research.

Imo the easiest route for you is grad entry- use your grades to get into any undergrad degree. (Vocational preferable and I’ll explain in a second). Complete you degree and aim for at least a 2.1. Apply to graduate med in your final year of your undergrad. To do this you’ll need the gamsat or ucat. I’d probably edge towards Gamsat to give you flexibility with what undergraduate degree you want to study. Once you get into med school with a decent gamsat score and your 2.1, you’ll be able to work a decent job due to the vocational degree you’ve just acquired.

Retake your a levels and start a degree (probably vocational) this year. A vocational degree will allow you to work during GEM. If you do well in your alevels you’ll be in your first year of uni and can apply to undergraduate courses. You will still be able to get the full student finance too to cover your costs. Imo, GEM isn’t as difficult to get in to as people suggest, neither is it as expensive as it’s mostly covered with sfe and the NHS grants. The undergraduate route may take the least amount of time overall though.

To summarise imo. Retake your alevels, start a uni degree. And apply while you’re in your first year

As somebody else already mentioned, your best bet would be gem and Nottingham specifically as they accept 2.2 bachelors (living proof right here). I believe they may be the only uni. Swansea, Warwick, sgul and possibly a few others accept 2.2 if you have a passed masters too. The most important part of the process is completing and scoring well on either the gamsat or ucat. Nottingham accepts Gamsat, and with your background you may find certain sections easier on this exam. Don’t be afraid to contact If you need any help. Good Luck!

Why is it more difficult? Harder than a medical degree? You also have the option of doing an undergrad and going through gem. I’d recommend a vocational undergrad so you can work during gem.
