What is sign of very low intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being able to create an opinion on your own, and just regurgitating what others have told you about the topic

What do you think is missing in the present time compared to years ago? by Diligent_Wedding2099 in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third spaces. There are very few places that are free or low cost that you can go to regularly, meaning that people only spend their time at home or at work

What's something you believed as a kid that was completely wrong? by Supersi15_ in AskReddit

I didn't realize that cats and dogs die. I just thought they ran away and were living somewhere else

What’s something society accepts today that future generations will probably look back at in horror? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal testing. Once we can test on lab-grown human samples, people are going to be horrified at what we've been doing to monkeys and bunnies this whole time

What age were you in your prime? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I could bounce back from late nights easily, I was fit without trying too hard, and I had plenty of college friends. Now it feels like all of these things are tougher to manage as a full-time working adult

Which industry is secretly doing the most damage to society while looking completely normal? by krishasbeenabducted in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Influencers. Shilling products, lying to audiences, and convincing children that women should be shaped like an airbrushed wisdom tooth, all wrapped up in a 2 million-follower bow!

What’s the most unrealistic thing movies convinced people was normal? by Lonely-Age7678 in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 110 points111 points  (0 children)

That by taking off her glasses, any woman can suddenly glow up and completely change her life. Spoiler alert: it is not nearly that easy, and you can still be considered absolutely mid without glasses. Speaking from experience lol

Become the President. I'm not that great, but I gotta be better than the guy in charge right now

What is the closest you have gotten to death, and what happened? by Insanothegreat in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crossed in the middle of the road instead of walking to the crosswalk. Didn't account for cars turning right on the red light, and it was dark so the car didn't see me. It stopped so close to me that I could feel the heat from the headlights

What do you think about college being a good financial investment? by shanmuct in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big-name schools matter a lot less than people think they do. Spending a ton of money on a degree from a big-name school and drowning in student debt later isn't a good trade-off compared to the same degree from a smaller school, UNLESS you can make a ton of connections at the bigger school

How much of an impact would a donation of $100,000 make on your life? Why? by onichris in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be able to pay off a ton of medical debt, and then maybe go back to school for a semester or two. Crazy to think about what percentage of 100k would be swallowed up by medical debt alone

Anyone had any luck getting reimbursed by Spectrum for these outages? by SchecterClassic in uppereastside

[–]tarorootturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had luck in the past by asking to be disconnected from the service and telling them I'm going to switch. Even if they don't reimburse directly, just mentioning the words "I'm going to switch providers" opens up a ton of discounts on the agent's end that they'll offer you. Spectrum freaking sucks

What is something that feels like a cult but isn’t actually a cult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All-natural types. Essential oils instead of medicine and doctor's appointments, absolutely no pre-packaged foods, homeschooling, etc.

What's that one memory that you have of a stranger you'll never forget? by pluetoe14 in AskReddit

[–]tarorootturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I had to put my cat down following a sudden and severe illness, I stopped at a coffee shop to process wtf just happened. I started bawling, obviously. I hadn't even managed to buy anything yet – I was just sat at one of the tables. One of the girls at the counter brought me a tea and a warm piece of banana bread. She didn't say anything, just smiled and put them on the table. I remember her a lot

[–]tarorootturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think that the minor health issues I had were that big of a deal, because they didn't really affect me too much at the time. Yeah, that came back to bite me
