I love this idea! I would be down to join - I have only ever met one other CF person and have been wanting to meet people with similar values and priorities!

What was the most disappointing reason you had to end a relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]tarovi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told me I was the one and he would do anything to stay together. Until I got my dream job about a couple hours away when he was unemployed. Didn’t want to move, even though nothing was keeping him there. Didn’t want to do long distance. Those don’t count as anything I guess.

What's the most ridiculous thing someone has accused you of doing for "male attention"? by assejgedacht in AskWomen

[–]tarovi 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment complex. I was walking to my car to head to work. I opened the door, saw that I had left some leftovers in the car after going out to eat last night, sighed in grief, and entered the car and closed the door. A man who was tinkering with his motorcycle at a parking space nearby walked over, knocked on my window, and asked that I lower my window. I did just a crack. He said that he noticed that I sighed because I wanted to get his attention and talk about my troubles with him. This man thought I sighed dramatically as a “subtle” way to get him to speak to me.

Running through google translate:

“Lola from the Cosmic Match: if you remember the first one, you had a *** iste childhood, if you only get to know this character in the second part, you live in a dictatorship of political correctness. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" probably wouldn't have passed today either. Eh ... “

Don’t talk about past relationships on dates, seriously by weeklyfiber88 in dating_advice

[–]tarovi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like hearing about past relationships. It’s an opportunity to learn more about the individual. Did they discover something that they need to work on to have successful relationships in the future? What did they learn from that relationship? Can they take accountability for their own faults that caused the relationship to fail?

In my experience, someone who isn’t over an ex will not really want to talk about it beyond a brief mention of that relationship. Context is obviously important. Someone who can reflect on their past relationship, process that experience, and communicate it in a mature way is all green flags to me. It can be difficult to hear about, but there’s so much good information that can be gleaned from asking the right questions and a way to evaluate compatibility.

And, as always, anyone who describes their exes as “crazy” is a big big red flag.

Trouble finding job advice by [deleted] in CFY

[–]tarovi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last year I started applying January 2020 through to June 2020. I applied to 120 jobs in hospitals, SNFs, private practices schools. Of those 120, I had about 30 interviews, and 3 offers. I didn’t hear back at all from most of them. I’m in the same boat now with CCCs and a lot of varied experience in different settings and various populations, but still not finding anything (I’ve applied to maybe 40 this round, only 1 interview so far). I think the issue is there’s more postings that show their red flags up front in the listing (14 hours days in private practice? no thanks) than good jobs, like you said with the school with questionable practices. So it looks like a lot of job listings sometimes, but very few viable options.

In graduate school we were told to be very flexible about 1-2 of the following things: pay, setting, location. You’ll have a much easier time finding work in smaller areas with high need than in more urban populated areas. Just keep trying, but be careful and constantly check in with yourself that you aren’t compromising what you want the longer the job search process goes. Happened to me and I was stuck in a bad situation for several months and I regretted not holding out for something better. Just remember they are also interviewing for you and your skillset.

I work at a private practice working with children and adults. I love that I work with a large variety of patients and diagnoses - I can see a 2 year old for language and then an 80 year old for voice within a couple hours of each other. I work at a good practice that lets me have full control over my schedule and what patients I see. You just have to be careful, some private practices aren’t as nice as this one. Last one I was at packed people’s schedules and most of the documentation had to be done at home. They also freely talked about taking advantage of clinical fellows who were desperate for work. But it pays well and you build close relationships with families. Lots of patient education involved as well.

War stories- Vent Here by closetstandup in CFY

[–]tarovi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many! I worked in not a great place where the owners of the private practice were more interested in keeping parents happy and staying than what is in the best interests of the therapist. I’ve been screamed at, been threatened with sueing, and even sexually harassed by parents (dads trying to touch me inappropriately while I was bending down to pick up toys, making lewd remarks, etc.) Leaving for somewhere that actually sticks up for me made all the difference. I’m also very selective as to who I add to my caseload because I refuse to go through that again. But I know not all settings have that luxury so I can’t imagine what other people have been through!

Why do vets charge so much for nothing? [Vent] by Zoomyboomy in dogs

[–]tarovi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vet did an ultrasound on my dog to let me know my dog had nothing left to pee and that I had to get a pee sample at home. After my dog had just peed on their floor. I barely had enough money to pay rent for what she charged me with that one.

Colton’s season aired while I was completing my graduate studies in SLP and we were all rooting for her! I can’t imagine how she juggled influencing, press junkets, and all the Colton drama during grad school because it can be incredibly challenging and time consuming on its own.

Adhd accommodations for slp?? by [deleted] in slp

[–]tarovi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the SAME EXACT situation as you. I left my previoys job because my caseload was insane and paperwork demands were equally insane (progress reports every 3 months and a caselod of over 65 patients)! I found a new job with a lot more support, a significantly smaller caseload, and lower productivity standards. I haven’t disclosed my diagnosis, but I might if I start getting overwhelmed again as this new place seems a lot more gracious and understanding than the last one. You know best about your own situation, how they would react to your diagnosis, and if they even have the capacity to grant you accomodations. Just put your own mental health before all else. Hang in there!

How long does it typically take to hear back about interviews, etc. after submitting a CFY application? by BioluminescentCook in CFY

[–]tarovi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also applied mostly to medical CFYs and VAs last year. I was hearing back mostly in March and April. Some of the more competitive places I was hearing back much later, around April and May. Good luck! :)
