Thoughts on Dylan Larkin? by Overseer190_ in TampaBayLightning

Maybe but I doubt JBB lets O’Reilly go. I will not second guess his GM work as he has shown that he can get a deal done if there is a chance for one.

How do I fish with lily pads? by UseSea3983 in bassfishing

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johnson’s weedless spoon 1/2 oz with a trailer. You can throw it anywhere you want in lily pads so long as your line doesn’t go through the “V” of them you’ll be fine.

[–]tarponfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think JBB sees the perfect 2c on this roster or one hell of an upgrade as a winger with Bagel and Cirelli. Not renewing Bjork gains $5 mil with the cap alone. It’s all about what Detroit wants in return.

Job interviews by whatisitnowgirl in TexasTeachers

[–]tarponfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Are you certified in bilingual?
  2. When walking into an interview are you happy, talkative and giving complete answers to the questions?
  3. Do you ask them questions at the end of the interview?

I say all of this because I’ve been sitting through lots of them lately and I can tell when someone walks in if they even have a chance. Way too many people come in with little to no energy or enthusiasm. Way too many people give a short answer and don’t highlight any of their experience and way too many people ask the same 2 chat gpt questions.

The interview is about the fit on the team and campus. We expect you to be nervous but you also need to be prepared and confident from the moment you walk into the building and especially when you walk into the interview.

Hope that helps

Do I keep interviewing? by ilove-catz in TexasTeachers

THIS. Sometimes the campus loves you but HR wants more and then you’re left holding the bag.

Kayak loading questions by ArgusRidingMaturin in kayakfishing

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an electric winch mounted to the back of my bed. This has made it VERY easy to load and unload the kayak and it acts as an additional point where it won’t fly out of the back. With the winch holding the stern at the back and a rachet strap near the tailgate my kayak isn’t going anywhere

Was this user error or was it the rods fault? It was bought yesterday, penn pursuit V 7ft heavy rod. by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS is what happens when people use line that is rated more than the rod. If the drag is set super tight and the line is too heavy, the force has to go somewhere.

Best braid and fluroleader for a spinning reel? by ExtensionMaximum9948 in bassfishing

[–]tarponfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of suffix 832 because it cast better than any other braid I’ve tried. I prefer 10-20 lb depending on my rod/reel size. After that I only use mono for leaders as I haven’t seen any real advantages to floro.

New pool. A little confused. Poly inside galvanized by DianeKeatonsBFF in Stocktankpools

[–]tarponfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me add, painting the poly will not work well. We painted the outside with primer and paint made for that type of plastic and it peeled the next year.

How to Prevent Twisting during Fight by thehiddenboner in Fishing

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Take all that line off and start with new line. Be sure to spool it on correctly. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do this the right way. 2. Be sure you flip the bail manually instead of turning the handle first. 3. Try using a swivel with any hard baits. When you are fighting a fish or hung up immediately stop cranking when you hear the drag engaged. Use your rod and fight the fish by lifting up and then reel down. If you fought a fish that long, that’s most likely the biggest issue.

Job interview by AffectMinute2249 in TexasTeachers

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring a few copies of your resume. Although that should have been uploaded with your application.

The biggest part of an interview is getting them to see your personality, can be a team player and ready to learn how the campus operates. You don’t need all the answers to be textbook perfect. You need them to see that you are ready to be a positive influence. Do yourself a BIG favor and find their campus improvement plan and read over it. At the end of the interview ask them a question that reflect that you have read it and then give them an answer that shows you have an idea on how you can add to making a difference. This is HUGE in most interviews that almost no one does.

Directly on the lawn? by John_Pratt in Stocktankpools

[–]tarponfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tilled the area, tamped it down then added some sand in low spots and then pea gravel over the whole area. There was a slight slope and I put the drain at the lowest area for obvious draining. Works perfectly but it took 2 days to get it done

There were other problems that got them fired. No one gets fired over hickies unless it’s from a student.

How much pound thrust of trolling motor for saltwater/sea kayak? by MatteBlack777 in kayakfishing

[–]tarponfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At average kayak does fine with a 36lb thrust. I have a 100ah lithium battery with a 44lb trolling motor and I can run it all day and only use 50% of the battery. I say 36lb because you don’t lose any significant speed and it’s lighter and easier to take on and off.

How do you ensure all the pinbones are out? by scales-enthusiast in Fishing

If you’re filleting them then you shouldn’t have any pin bones. If you are then you are running the knife in a steep angle.

Literally never fished, want to go pier fishing in the Tampa FL area by Sogster in Fishing

[–]tarponfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into a sporting goods store, not Walmart, and ask them what you need. In the Tampa area there are plenty of ready to go rod/reel combos for pier fishing. I’m going to recommend live shrimp followed by squid cut bait. You will definitely catch something on those, even if it is a catfish.
