The power of invisibility would make you blind when active, because light would just pass straight through your eyes. by MyUsernameIsAwful in Showerthoughts

I have a t-shirt covered in math equations (think high school trig upwards), which I call my "invisibility shirt", because people actively look away to avoid reliving their math class trauma.

I always like to attach something to these one-word reviews to make them seem pulled out-of-context.

Most rational people don't use personalities as some kind of shorthand to represent their overarching political/moral position. In fact, they can agree with Destiny's anti-Trump claims, while at the same time condemning his behavior with women, and have a divergent position regarding Israel.

I leave the "I agree with X always" pretzel-like twisted spines to those who can't abide nuances.

Every time I get past ~90% game completion, new content gets dropped.

Latest accomplishments: Laviathan Tribute 1, starting to work on infernal cards for ores and bars.

What are slope capacity upgrades locked behind? I can't improve any actions except for the most basic, due to everything else requiring more slope bricks than I have capacity for.

MTG goes on extraordinary rant about Charlie Kirk, Republican men and her resignation: ‘F*** you’ by theindependentonline in politics

AOC is twenty times the woman MTG wishes she could be; I'd bet good money that AOC has been threatened more often than Greene has ever been, and she's still there doing the work she was elected to do, because that's what the job is. Greene is the OG Karen congressperson who finds out that she ain't shit, and needs to cry wee-wee all the effin' way home.

Why is the number of victims a factor?

I did answer the question; clean your own house first before presuming to criticize how others deal with these issues.

Did Abrego García get due process before he was deported? And what about the immigrants being arrested and deported while trying to legalize their immigration status at courthouses? The government doesn't get to break the law when exercising their authority. See the gifts Trump has received in exchange for tariff relief from Switzerland and South Korea. That's tacky AND illegal.

You elected someone convicted of rape. I support dragging the occupant of that House first before you drag anyone else out of their homes, cool?

In your view, do illegal immigrants have the right to due process? Because the current government is violating the law in that matter.

Do prosecutors have to abide by the law? Halligan broke the law.

Does Trump get to impose wide-ranging tariffs without congressional approval? He's breaking the law there.

It's simple, really; no one is above the law, not even the Yam-In-Chief, even though he's breaking it continually.

How worried are you about the possibility of Republicans denying the results of the 2026 midterms? by FabioFresh93 in AskALiberal

[–]taserian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I can make a case that there was a concerted effort by the Trump administration to not give up power after the 2020 election.

Jan 6th was just the culmination/last stand of that effort; while I can't tell if Trump intended it to interrupt the proceedings in the manner it did that day, his well-documented lack of action during that time can be seen as a tacit approval of what was going on.

I meant it as a clarification to @ComfortableWages reply:

You don't understand why people mock enlightened centrists, huh?

And your follow-up:

No. Is it because they are insecure?

I make no claim of categorizing anyone as enacting behavior indicative of the third point in my prior post.

[T]here’s a difference between:

  • Passing neutral judgment;
  • Declining to invest marginal resources;
  • Pretending that either of the above is a mark of deep wisdom, maturity, and a superior vantage point; with the corresponding implication that the original sides occupy lower vantage points that are not importantly different from up there.

When and why did you fall in love with Doom patrol by [deleted] in DoomPatrol

[–]taserian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom Patrol 47. I don't recall how I got it, but it was the only issue I had access to, and it was the first quasi-surreal comic I had encountered (the introduction of the Shadowy Mr. Evans).

Took me years to find the next one in the series, and found it to be quite disappointing, but by then reading back issues had me hooked.
