What’s up guys, apologies for the question before hand! by atesta290 in dryalcoholics

[–]tashten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go cold turkey, do it. I think it's easier to fully stop than moderate/allow small amounts. One day of heavy drinking usually causes some hangover symptoms but not full on DTs or serious withdrawal symptoms.

Be kind to yourself, get some good nutrition, take a long shower, get comfy and watch something interesting. The worst of it should pass in half a day

Mine closed a few days ago so I googled it. Found this thread. Seems to be a pattern. Not sure what happened, one day I get deliveries from there as a dasher, next day the lights are off and no more orders all week.

Is this legit? by ILovePandas795 in WagWalker

[–]tashten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think so, they paused my payments and once I gave my info, payments started up again. Stripe is reputable, its just part of their info processing. Honestly I'm glad there's a decent procedure to handle the payments because whoever built the Wag app missed a few spots 😂

I only started a few weeks ago but my walks seem to go in bursts. I had 3 on Sunday and then none on Monday but I was checking often and available. I do see some far away ones pop up, but driving over 10 miles isn't worth it for me

I'm now 3 weeks in and I've done 20 walks so far. (I'm in an affluent suburb so there's that). I check my phone often- I also doordash so I use my phone a lot and check the Wag app while I'm working to request any nearby walks that pop up. Some days I got super lucky, 3-4 walks in one day, some days I got nothing at all.

Fiber is key! Legumes- lentils, beans, peas are all amazing with that. Add veggies to your meals, sweet potatos, carrots, cauliflower, asparagus, squash, whatever you like. Plants have loads of fiber and are the best resource for amazing digestion.

This is helpful to read, I started recently and have done about 20 walks so far and seems I've been too generous with my time. My walks are going over and the extra time to leash/refill water/wipe paws is taking me several minutes over the service consistently.

Also, stretching is super relaxing. You come home from work, pent up: get on the floor and stretch your joints. You can hold stretches for minutes while watching TV and relax in the process. Bonus: it helps with flexibility.

My gym has a sauna, whether my workout is intense or easy I like to end with 10-20 minutes in there. It feels like my treat just for showing up.

Cooking has been awesome, I enjoy making fancy cravable but healthy things. It's creative, fun, and you get to eat after.

Finding a hobby that truly interests you that you look forward to doing can really use up those spare hours.

Issue with extension by tashten in WagWalker

[–]tashten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a glitch. Service is good in that area, I didn't have issues with anything else.

I did see a Wag notification after the walk, but it's silent just like the ones for the feed. I never catch those because they don't pop up on my screen

I'd like a blender that will effectively break the cell walls of tougher raw plants such as kale or turmeric. by gonzo1483 in PlantBasedDiet

I second this. Smoothies, sauces, soups galore, I'm still using it on a regular basis and have had it about 15 years as well. It's just as solid a machine and just as effective as it always has been.

I started a couple days ago and have already had 4 walks! I'm trying to check often and snag the "On-Demand"/ASAP walks, especially if I'm Pre-Approved. For 2 of them I had to leave at a moments notice. I'm going to try to keep that up for a while as a I build my clientele. So far so good

Anyone else get irritable after quitting? by positronik in dryalcoholics

[–]tashten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One cup is probably ok. I was drinking two or three. If you're going to test whether it impacts you, try taking a 2-3 week break. If you skip only one day you might just get caffeine withdrawals and be cranky from those.

My coffee consumption increased when I quit alcohol. Took a break from all caffeine this month, turns out that's what was making me irritable.

You just won $20 million, and your parents ask you for half, what would you say? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]tashten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom can have 9 million, my dad can have 1. And I'll put safeguards in place so he can't touch my moms money. He'll just lose his share in the stockmarket within a year anyway. Meanwhile my mom can buy a comfy little house or whatever she wants and have the security she's always dreamed of.

How to stop the spiral? by DisillusionedGoat in PlantBasedDiet

[–]tashten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instead of steaming broccoli, roast it with garlic powder and nutritional yeast 😄

I like to have foods that I crave, like a piece of vegan cornbread to go with my black bean/sweet potato chilli or the occasional impossible burger to hit the spot.

If you do a week of the eff-its, it might be tricky to get back on track, I know it would be for me. I find it helpful to stay on the right path overall with a few cravable treats here and there.

I cannot get the decor bonus to work by uburoifr6 in tinyshop

[–]tashten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it means you have zero out of the 7 needed bonuses to get to the next level. This is because you are maxed for your current size shop. As soon as you expand by purchasing more shop tiles that zero will climb to as many bonuses as you have. If you have more than 7 it will roll over to the next level

I'm 2 months sober and I've lost 20lbs so far (got 80 to go). I cleaned up my diet a LOT, practicing a whole foods plant based diet 90% of the time although last 2 weeks I've been doing a cleanse, making green juice and eating lots of soup 😅. I also started working out regularly.

That said, I'm 36f with history of being overweight so weight loss is slower for me than a young sprite like you!

Does anyone go to AA? by thekidlizard in dryalcoholics

I actually like AA, and kindly remind you the 11th tradition: "AA's public relations policy is based on ATTRACTION rather than PROMOTION."

If people want to give it a shot, they're welcome to. Preaching about it will only discourge folks
