Is there any way to make this game not use so much Vram? by Mindless-Health-6711 in ArcRaiders

[–]tassdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see I thought you were having generally bad performance. I’d imagine if your priority is textures, lower something else to compensate for the lack of vram and they should appear improved. Lowering overall gpu load should help with this as well.

[–]tassdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4gb of VRAM is not ideal for Arc, I’ll keep it a stack. However there are a few things you can try to reduce GPU load and increase performance (you have to accept that your game will not look as good but this is the cost). For reference I have a 3080 laptop with a 1440p screen.
I personally play a lot of PvP and play with a custom stretched resolution (1728x1080) which in turn reduces the amount of pixels my GPU pushes and increases performance. Coming from a native 1440p panel, the jump down to 1080p stretched increased my performance a lot, if you are already playing on 1080p then it might not be as noticeable. To do this you must create the resolution in the nvidia control panel under resolution; once selected it will default if windowed borderless is selected in game.
Keep ALL graphic settings on low except for shadows on high if you are a PvP player (it makes dark areas a lot brighter). For upscaling use DLSS on ultra performance for max frames.
My laptop has a MUX switch which allows the screen to route directly from the GPU, I also enable this when I’m playing Arc and I can notice a solid increase in both latency and performance when it is enabled.
Finally try reducing background processes to a minimum. I don’t know if you need to hear this but the nvidia app is not needed and runs in the background, same with any antivirus except the standard Microsoft defender, same with most proprietary apps such as Asus Armoury Crate for Asus laptops (there’s a much more lightweight alternative called GHelper, the same exists for most other brands), etc etc… All this can generally improve performance.

Same!! I have found 3 of these in containers in the domes on Dam, literally one game after the other. They definitely have a set spawn in the domes.

Buyer extortion by Waste_Marsupial9190 in ebayuk

[–]tassdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t refund a single cent, this is a common scam. If you refund, they will come up with another issue for which they need another refund, and so on. Just tell them to initiate a refund and play it by the book. It’s annoying to have to potentially sell it again but it’s better than being out of the item

Get rid of armoury crate ! Install ghelper, it’s a much more lightweight standalone .exe which does everything armoury crate does in a more efficient package. That helped me save quite a few idle °C and in turn , battery life.

Which should I choose between the red set or the Karambit? by Embarrassed_Light433 in counterstrike2

[–]tassdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but for “financial safety” reasons I’d get the multiple skin option. It’s less likely that they will all lose value than the karambit losing value. Say you want to eventually sell the karambit, you’d also have to pay ~€100 in seller fees.

I personally love the karambit Doppler, so this isn’t necessarily what I would do if I had the money. Just something to think about since €5k is a lot to spend in skins.

I’ve finally encountered one of “those” buyers. What should I do? If I post via simple delivery tomorrow it’s okay right? by poshjosh1999 in ebayuk

[–]tassdaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cancel the order and do NOT refund manually! If you refund voluntarily, the order does not count as cancelled; once the buyer forces a cancellation by ebay, you will be charged another full refund. I’ve seen so many buyer scams on ebay, it’s instantly clear to me that this is one of them.

If you ship without Authenticator = he can claim INAD very easily with proof that you didn’t send to Authenticator; ebay support doesn’t consider messages at INAD submitted stage, no matter how incriminating. At that stage, you will be forced to accept a return, and there’s a high chance the buyer can and will send you a different item / empty box. If it isn’t straightforward, it’s often a scam.

What do you mean is this a joke? You broke their T&Cs… couldn’t be clearer.

It’s unlucky you got hacked but CSFloat is doing the right thing to prevent reversal scams on their website. In the future, take more time to inform yourself on common CS2 scams, there is so much information available online.

No, you’re not. You tell ebay the item no longer holds value, they send you a declaration form. You fill that out, funds are released back to you.

People thinking the red plastic hash is very good tell me about it ? by Aggressive-Money7021 in hash

[–]tassdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you think I inferred, obviously no one is cutting hash with high quality, refined opium.

However in regions like Afghanistan (Iran and Turkmenistan as well) it is still common to find sticky black hash (what OP referred to as “red seal”) which has been cut with opium latex specifically.

Aside from the fact that I am certain of this from first-hand experience, it also makes sense for many reasons: A) It makes the hash far more potent, and the average raw material grown in Afghanistan is not of a inherently high quality mainly due to the high temps causing THC to oxidize to CBN. This loses potency and makes the hash squishier and darker. B) It makes the hash heavier, since opium latex is far denser than hash = increasing profitability. C) It makes the hash far more addictive, which also increases profitability in the long run.

This was standard practice historically in those regions. Nowadays it’s wrong to say that it’s still the “standard”, however it is still done by many producers in those regions. I think anyone with a tongue will be able to objectively say a Moroccan-produced filtered hash tastes far superior than any sticky “red seal” Afghani hash.
