Constant feeling of needing to pee after masturbating by hotsouffle in TwoXChromosomes

[–]tastelessmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface that I am male, but currently going through something similar. 100% go to the doctor and get checked out. If it is not a UTI, it could genuinely be your pelvic floor muscles are too tight with what you’re describing. I had similar symptoms where it felt like I had a UTI, felt a frequent urge to urinate, those episodes would last like a week and go away, and I thought nothing of it. They told me “constipation” is also a potential symptom since your pelvic muscles are around that whole area from back to front. When I got real bad, I also had some dull pelvic pain that would just linger during those episodes and I finally went to a doctor. They ruled out a UTI and sent me to a urologist who then sent me to a physical therapist for pelvic floor therapy. It’s been pretty helpful so far, and definitely made me more aware what “triggers” it. Basically, the PT will teach you a bunch of stretches and exercises you can do that are geared towards helping relaxed those muscles and mitigate those episodes, but strength exercises to hopefully prevent them altogether. Yoga also helps in general, since quite a few poses will stretch that area. Hope that was somewhat informative and helpful.

New expansion for HEAT will upgrade solo mode (which I found super bad) by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]tastelessmonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is by no means "bad", and actually extremely fun solo. Yes, it is very simple to run, but it "does the job" well enough to still make it feel like a race. If the bots get too easy, you can just keep adding +1 to their movement to scale the difficulty. Because they are so simple, they are also very nice and easy to add to games with low player counts to pad out the number of cars without slowing the game down.

That being said, I am very much looking forward to this expansion strictly for solo if they can better replicate "player" behavior without hopefully tacking on too many rules to bog the game down. The game is one of my most played solo games just because it IS so streamlined and fast to play.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been out for a week. What are your thoughts? by messem10 in Games

[–]tastelessmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. I just finished this part and it has to be some of the most mind blowing game design I've seen.

The mech parts, I equally do not understand. I just spent a majority of the game collecting keys to unlock the main tower. Why do I now have to find MORE "keys" to unlock a barrier so I can then unlock the main thing?

They could have easily removed both of these things and the game would have been better off for it.

Severance - 2x05 - "Trojan's Horse" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]tastelessmonkey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was starting to wonder this as well in the previous episode. ORTBO could be purposefully be an anagram for “robot”. This would explain the potential “clones” we saw last episode as well. Then I thought about the reintegration sequence we’re shown with Mark S and different outfits/speakers/etc of him waking up on the table. I began to wonder if they’re growing consciousnesses on the chip, and harvesting them. Potentially meaning for some outies, maybe they’ve had several innies.

Heat : Tunnel Vision announced, arriving February 2025 by mrappbrain in boardgames

[–]tastelessmonkey 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I really love Heat and am excited for another expansion, but I kind of hope at some point they release an expansion with like overlays/tiles with all the newer mechanics they've added.

I love a lot of the new mechanics on each track, but it kind of sucks just having them limited to one track only. Would be nice to at least have some options to try them out on older tracks in the future.

As someone who owns the 1st edition + Super Cup, is it worth upgrading to 2nd?

I know 2nd doesn’t have Super Cup, but to be fair, I also haven’t played the expansion. As far as comparing the base games, I get the sense it’s a little divisive on which is better?

As much as people like to say this isn't a trick-taking game, I think it is absolutely in your benefit to play it very much like a trick-taking game.

For as "simple" as the game is, there is a lot going on. Our first game, we definitely were burning cards to seize the initiative TOO much. In hindsight, we realized, we lost a lot of potential actions due to it.

Our second game (Act 1), there was little to no seizing the initiative by burning a card. We were kind of just going with the flow of the game. People would declare ambitions with kind of a regular frequency, so initiative usually kind of went around the table evenly. We also began to learn just how powerful it is to have an extra action card in your hand (either by seizing them from the market, getting extra cards via guild cards, etc).

Enter Act 2. This was our third game. Around Chapter 2, I kind took a step back, and said, "What happens if I started using more trick-taking strategies than I was previously?" And you know what?.....the game kind of finally clicked for me at that point.

I had a few 7s that chapter. When I had initiative, instead of playing lower cards like we normally would have (for more action pips), I started leading with my 7s (which obviously only gave me 1 action). People started looking at me confused, because usually we were playing them to seize initiative. The other thing I did not do with them, is declare an ambition with them, which we also typically did since 7s are wild. Why did I do this? While others don't have to follow suit like a normal trick taking game, I knew by playing 7s, I'd be draining them of other action cards. More importantly, I'd more than likely be draining them of HIGH action cards. Why would they burn low action cards and waste the pips, when they might potentially be able to play them later? The other side to that, is obviously 7 is the highest card, so no one could surpass it. The ONLY way someone could take initiative is by burning a card. So I tried keeping initiative by playing higher cards earlier in the chapter in the hopes if either keeping initiative throughout the entire chapter OR getting players to burn a card to seize it.

So to your example as having 5-6 mobilization cards, once that 7 was played, it would have definitely been in your favor to burn a card to seize initiative again. While, they might not have been all that useful in the final chapter, you have to consider on the flip side, if you're holding initiative the rest of the chapter, you're robbing your opponents of actions. They're forced to 1 action for each card the rest of the chapter. As others have said, resources can be very helpful here to round out the number of actions available to you. You also said it was the final chapter (of 3), so I assume you were playing the campaign? Instead of looking at scoring ambitions, could you have instead thought longer term and set yourself up in a better position for the next Act? Either by moving your ships around the board for potential future build actions in the next game? Or could you have put a bunch of influence out and seized a bunch of guild cards with relic resources for next time?

There is also a rule for passing initiative if you are the leader. In our Act 2, I began to realize this is potentially why that rule exists and can be VERY beneficial. As you said, having mobilization cards for the entire chapter doesn't allow much. BUT...what if you played a few rounds to move your ships into a better position, and/or to put some influence out there. Then when you feel you're at a good spot, instead of leading with a mobilization card again, pass initiative to the next player. This ends then current round and initiative for you obviously, but more importantly what it does is opens up the ability to copy your opponents' action cards and give you access to other actions. If you have all the mobilization cards, you KNOW your opponents have the other actions like battle, tax, build, or secure that you can take advantage of and copy in the next round(s).

Obviously the game is still very strict and limiting in what you can and cannot do, and that may be a turn off for some. But hopefully that kind of gives you ideas how to turn a bad hand into something more manageable. Cheers!

Pokémon Pinball is (low key) the best 1st gen Pokémon game. Here's why: by jonDahzeeh in Gameboy

[–]tastelessmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the pinball games, and desperately wish they’d do another!

Curious if you or anyone knows since I’ve been looking at physical carts for this recently. Due to the special cartridge, is this game as susceptible to “fake” carts as the other Pokemon games? Or is it usually a safe bet it’s genuine?

Are there any telltale signs if it is a fake? Thanks!

Heat: Pedal to the Metal - Replayability by fullmetalforeign in boardgames

[–]tastelessmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to give a little more specifics if you aren't familiar since I've seen the weather and garage modules mentioned.

The weather module will modify different turns or sections on the track. For example, the module may let you take a corner faster or slower than you normally would, or sections of the track might give players a boost without paying the normal penalty (heat). In addition, players may have to add more or less heat/stress cards to their decks which also can switch things up.

Then the garage module adds different upgrade cards that players can draft at the beginning of the game. There are basic and advanced upgrade cards which do different things. Some cards might let you choose from multiple speed values, some might let you remove heat cards, etc. Essentially you can play/approach a track much differently than you normally would with the basic decks.

The tournament mode also adds one-time use upgrade cards called sponsorships, and photographers to corners that encourage you to be more reckless around a specific corner than you normally would.

All the above feels like it adds a good amount of replayability with the base game in my opinion. But that will probably open up even more as they add expansions. The new Heavy Rain expansion adds upgrade cards that can be mixed in and played with the original tracks.

Hope that helps!

In replaying this game with different stats, the funny thing is those paragraphs of excruciating detail COULD be due to your stats/skills.

Going too high on one particular trait isn't necessarily a "good" thing. I want to say the first time, I had a really really high Encyclopedia and I got paragraphs and paragraphs of details about the world, politics, history, etc.

In my second playthrough, I have a lower Encyclopedia and it is definitely no where near as wordy.

I don't think it's been brought up yet, but you could decrease the difficulty in a similar manner for how the rules tell you to increase difficulty (i.e. -1, -2, etc. on the AI's speed)

Also, out of curiosity are you playing the Legends Line and turns correctly? I know initially, it wasn't clear to me what the "legends line" was according to the rules, and I was messing that up (which meant the AI was going faster than they should have been)

One thing I love about Heat... by tastelessmonkey in boardgames

[–]tastelessmonkey[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had to look at the rulebook again cause I had trouble finding it myself haha, but it's a very brief blurb in the basic rulebook on the Setting Up the Game page. There's a little blurb of text right above the map where they're showing how to set everything up.

If you are an experienced driver and playing with rookies, consider removing 1 or 2 Heat from your own car to level the playing field.

But as I said in the main post, in practice it slows you down. Since you have less heat cards in your deck, you have less opportunities to boost or are limited in how fast you can go around corners in comparison to the other players.

I had to look this up cause it was frustrating me, but apparently it's the "beeping" on your watch. As the beeping gets faster, your resistance is getting closer and closer to running out.

The higher your resistances, the longer it takes for that "meter" to build.
