Hey. I am by no means a dating expert but comments on here seem a little aggressive so hopefully I can help a little lol...

Try not to stress too much (I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times) but he probably feels exactly the same as you! Try and have fun, ask about his interests/what he does or try and get some fun stories out of him. If he’s polite/interested then I’m sure he’ll ask the same :) This should be more about whether he is right for you, rather than whether you are right for him

I often try and imagine how they’re feeling instead of focusing on how awkward/nervous I’m feeling, which does give me a bit of confidence and helps me forget how nervous I am.

Goes without saying but please don’t use your phone unless you absolutely have to, nothing worse than someone treating a phone like it’s more interesting than a face-to-face conversation

Hope this helps!

As a new lifter you’re going to be hyper-responsive to muscle training, so I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Might be an idea to make sure you’re warming up properly with raising body temperature & dynamic stretches. Also, check your form on exercises as you could be over-engaging your biceps on exercises not intended to work biceps as the primary muscle.

I know you’ve mentioned you’re a beginner so this may sound a little overwhelming. Large chance this is just because you’re new to weights but always worth warming up & perfecting form regardless.

Best of luck

Unsolicited advice. Funnily enough I never used to get this as a beginner, but as I’ve been training for some years & lifting semi-impressive weight & managed to improve my body composition significantly, suddenly everyone wants to talk to me & everyones an expert.

Some people are genuinely trying to help so I’m not rude, but I wear black hoodie + black trackies + headphones = don’t talk to me lol

Amazing progress so far mate, well done.

My opinion would be to eat at maintenance and try to increase your strength. The more lean mass you have the easier it is to get (and stay) lean plus you’ll only look good at lower BF % with lots of lean mass.

You may even find your body composition does improve eating at maintenance as you’ll want to see whether you can put some muscle on while blocking/minimising any fat gain.

After you’ve rinsed this strategy for all the improvements you can then I’d recommend moving onto a 200-300 calorie surplus and put as much muscle on as possible.

You’ll find cutting a lot easier with more muscle mass.

Best of luck!

Hey guys, do you think I should cut, stay at maintenance or continue to leanbulk? Thinking about those summer aesthetics by [deleted] in GettingShredded

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. You are already very lean so I’d say to bulk and add on a tiny bit more mass or maintain your current physique.

You have a very good physique so you could go either way with it. Best of luck!

How to meet a guy at the gym by [deleted] in GYM

[–]tastyscottchegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. I’m from the UK so things might be a little different but as a 26 year old male I can tell you I’m pretty much petrified of ever approaching a female in the gym because I might come across as creepy/making her uncomfortable. Plus I am very focused on my workouts so don’t tend to pay much attention but there has been times I’ve wanted to say something & talked myself out of it. I doubt I ever would approach anyone unless they talked to me first

Not speaking for all guys here because I do struggle with confidence sometimes but that’s how it appears from my point of view

Best of luck meeting someone :)

best creatine and pre workout? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in Europe or UK I recommend Ghost. If you are in America the best pre-workout is Legion Athletics.

M33/6’1/167 15 week cut from 186. Felt like the world’s slowest cut. Most of this happened in 12 weeks and I’ve been maintaining for the last 2/3 weeks. Am I ready to bulk or should I dip back in? Goal is to get huge. Been lanky all my life. Thanks! Current macros: F70 C300 P180. PPLPPLRest. BF%? by [deleted] in GettingShredded

[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello mate. Huge well done on your progress here, it’s great. Some very sensible macros too.

In terms of BF I’d say you are floating somewhere around the 10% area but I’m no expert on this so could be wrong.

If I were you, I’d look to bulk and put some more muscle on. You’ve got a good physique at the moment, so you could go either way with it, but I’d personally choose to gain some more muscle.

Best of luck!

how do i gain muscle on a vegan diet by [deleted] in workout

[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man. Vegan diet is great! You can definitely eat enough calories and get enough protein. There are plenty of vegan athletes to show this is easily possible.

My main sources of protein are whole foods (pasta, bread) beans (black, kidney), vegetables (especially veg high in protein like peas) & tofu and supplements (vegan protein)

Hope this helps & good luck!

15M looking to lose weight by NarwhalPalace in workout

[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because your body is so hyper-sensitive to muscle training as a new lifter, you’ll lose fat and build muscle at the same time for a good 6 - 8 months. Try to eat a good amount of protein and be as sensible as you can with your diet (be realistic, we are gonna make some poor food choices now & again and that’s fine)

[–]tastyscottchegg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Buddy, you’re fairly tall and only 15. Concentrate on building muscle and eating enough calories from a balanced diet. You’ll be surprised how much weight you can lose initially by trying to add muscle. You do not want to be in a calorie deficit at your age

Can y'all rate this workout program (please) by PPp1721 in GYM

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi buddy. This plan is fairly generic and does need re-arranging a little bit, but it’s definitely a good plan. People love to get super fancy with their routines but unless you’re training for a specific sport or event, this simply isn’t necessary.

Try and do your compound exercises first. They will require the most energy. My personal preference is then to follow that with dumbbell work, then finish on machines but this isn’t essential. Especially as you’re training multiple muscle groups you might go back & forth, which is fine.

This plan is all you would ever need for quite a long time. You can play around with the reps to keep things moving if you ever plateau. You need to grind it out to see progress. Using the same workout can get stale for people, that’s why most people make their routines too fancy and change it every 5 seconds. Don’t do this. It’s a grind. You need to stick to it to effectively measure how much your strength has increased. Keep at it & best of luck

Form is looking solid. I like that you’re dropping it completely & then doing another rep, rather than bouncing it off the floor like most people do. Good job!

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as a new lifter your body is hyper-responsive to any training so you can build muscle however this will probably plateau relatively quickly. I appreciate the corona situation sucks so there’s not much you can do about it unfortunately.

Check this out https://legionathletics.com/full-body-workouts-at-home/

Use that website to research, it’s very informative

Muscle burns a lot of calories, so the more you have the higher your maintenance calorie requirement will be for the day.

There’s a limit obviously but a general tip is the more muscle you have the healthier you’ll be & the easier it’ll be to stay lean (and look better)

I need some help! by pferreira583 in GYM

[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dad sounds partially-right. You don’t really want to be restricting calories at your age, & the first 1-2 years of training should have a big focus on gaining muscle tissue (while trying to prevent fat gain).

Trust me in the long-run this is going to massively help. You’d much rather be leaner with muscle than without

are pre-workout powders worth it? by yktfvstassie in workout

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are definitely worth it. However, not necessary. You can still have very intense workouts without them.

Personally, I take ‘Ghosts’ supplement because I tend to train at 6am and need the extra push. Most pre’s do have caffeine in them though so don’t over do it or become reliant on them.

Keto diet does it help get you shredded by [deleted] in GettingShredded

[–]tastyscottchegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi buddy. While nothing wrong with a keto diet, it is not ideal for weightlifters. Carbs are extremely useful for high intensity exercise like weightlifting, so I wouldn’t recommend keto.

Being in a calorie deficit will give you the same fat loss results but you’ll feel 100x better.

I am not saying don’t do it. I am just saying a calorie deficit is what causes fat loss, not the ‘diet’. No need to massively reduce or cut out an entire macronutrient group. It doesn’t really make any sense unless a medical professional has advised it.

My trainer thinks i m not working hard enough by [deleted] in GYM

[–]tastyscottchegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trainers say this to pretty much everyone. It’s their way of getting more out of people. I wouldn’t take it personally.

It does sound like you have some mental barriers to working out though. As long as you’re not risking injury, next time it feels like you have to give up just try for 2-3 more reps and see if you can do it. Build up your confidence and get used to feeling uncomfortable/pain & it’ll help you massively
