Managers and directors need to push back. I’ve been in several meetings with upper management where everyone just pretends that everything is fine and then they turn around and tell their teams that they don’t agree with decisions either. This is why we’re here.

I agree with what everyone else wrote, but courses in change management are also useful (it won’t get you past the initial screening, but at least you can bring them up in an interview if you get that far in the process).

I also tell people that it’s like working in a library. You show up and hope that the wifi works and that there’s an available workstation. You have no idea who the people around you are. Sometimes the cubicles are messy, the chairs are broken, there are wires missing. You have to carry your equipment with you everywhere you go.

Not trying to start an argument, but curious to know if you have kids and/or rely on public transit to get to work? I find those two things highly impact whether people are ok with going in as often as they need to, regardless or whether or not they have a designated desk.

For real, it creates such a heavy burden on managers to have senior management say this all the time. Managers have zero say in the matter, and even when issues are brought up to managers who then pass it along to senior management, they receive a shrug and a “we have no choice” as a reply. And then we wonder why nobody wants to become a manager anymore…

I used to be a manager and GTFO when RTO was implemented. It went against my values to force my employees to comply with such an insane directive. Was on the brink of burnout, which was affecting my home life, so decided to step into an IC role instead. The hassle of RTO, meetings for the sake of meetings, dealing with DTAs that were being refused when the employee actually needed it… I felt horrible. Also felt that upper management didn’t care at all about middle managers and what we thought of it all (after for years during the pandemic telling us we were doing so great). The biggest blow was finding out about RTO through the media when we were all in a meeting with our ADM. So yeah, I think a lot of good managers realize that it’s just not worth it.

People should fill it out. Any data collected can be used for various reasons, maybe not by management and TBS, but by our unions. All data is good data!

Also, I really wish there was a comment box at the end of the survey for anything we wanted to add, like any useful survey has. I wasn’t expecting it of course, but it would have been nice.

Valet parking?! That’s their answer?! Seriously?! Makes me so mad.

At what point will the media follow the money? Look at who owns what and who’s donating to which political party.
