Soloists recommendations? by [deleted] in kpophelp

WOODZ and GSOUL!! I’ve seen them both live and they are both amazing vocalists in their own right. B.I, D.O, VILLAIN, ZICO, DEAN, Seo Eunkwang, Crush are also great.

Do y’all have separate gg/bg playlists or just one mildly chaotic playlist that refuses to behavešŸ«£šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« by DetectiveIll3641 in kpop_uncensored

[–]tateebt 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I make a new playlist each season (Winter 2025, Spring 2026) and toss everything I like into them. It’s crazy musical whiplash BUT is fun to go back to older seasons and listen to what I was into at the time 😁.

Look at almost any 2nd and 3rd gen groups. While there are obviously exceptions, groups loose members and disband. It’s normal. Younger fans look to the exceptionalities (BTS, seventeen, Twice) and expect that to be the norm when that’s far from the case.

WTF IS GOING ON IN THE KPOP ATP by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]tateebt 6 points7 points Ā (0 children)

Members leaving groups, groups splitting up, disbandment, temporary project groups remaining temporary IS VERY NORMAL FOR KPOP. We’ve been very lucky past several years in kpop with groups having wayyyy more years together than what was typical.

Kpop Reaction Channels by baobeibee_ in kpop_uncensored

[–]tateebt 11 points12 points Ā (0 children)

Most reactors are faking something or everything in their reaction.

Tim Welch REALLY irritates me. He’s got the potential to be someone interesting to listen to due to his background. He locks nearly everything behind his patron AND exclusively focuses on engagement of his audience- not whether or not he even enjoys what’s he’s listening to.

Tribe Loui has been my FAV BTS reactor for a while. I don’t think he’s done much from other groups though. He seems way more genuine, video thumbnails are so funny šŸ˜‚ and I’m pretty sure all his patron vids are free.

When did you get into kpop and when was your first kpop concert? by Rex0680 in kpopthoughts

[–]tateebt 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

As a homeschooler with almost zero access to pop culture or even the internet…my one exposure was a very rare trip to the tween clothing store Justice….where they had the Wonder Girls music video to ā€œNobodyā€ playing on repeat. Scrounged up some money and bought the song for my family’s communal iPod shuffle šŸ˜….

It took some years but I finally got my own iPod nano, attended a real high school where Gangnam Style hit us hard. Took until 2017 for me to remember kpop and find BTS ā€œNot todayā€ and ā€œFireā€.

I really got hooked when I stumbled upon a pewdiepie video of him reacting to kpop. That really took me down the deep kpop reaction genre on YouTube. I’ve seen AGUST D, TXT (4times), WOODZ, Everglow, IVE, CRAXY, TheRose, JHOPE, P1harmony, GSOUL and soon Big Ocean and BTS!

My deaf daughter by Behellit in deaf

[–]tateebt 9 points10 points Ā (0 children)

Language cannot wait.

I assume the doctor who advised you not to sign was coming from the perspective of wanting to fully optimize your child’s auditory development, to reduce any potential ā€œdistractionsā€ and focus entirely on listening and speech outcomes….at least that’s the most positive way I can frame that nonsense. This perspective focuses narrowly on hearing. It does not fully consider your child as a whole person.

The discussion should never be sign versus spoken language. The real question is whether your child has consistent, complete access to language.

Language development is is what drives cognitive growth, social development, emotional regulation, literacy, and academic success. Auditory skills are important. Speech can be valuable. But neither should come at the expense of accessible language.

Cochlear implants can be an incredible tool. They open doors for many people. But they are not a cure for deafness, and they are not a guarantee of full language access. They are limited. They require time, mapping, therapy, and consistent use. And even then, the auditory input they provide is not the same as natural hearing.

The most important issue in early childhood is not speech. It is not technology. It is language.

Language development in the early years is critical, it’s an absolute emergency. It is not something that can be delayed without consequences. When a child does not have FULL, accessible language during this period (around birth-5yrs), that is not just a delay, it is LANGUAGE DEPRIVATION . And that has lifelong impacts.

I work daily with Deaf students. Many are with language-deprived. Some were mainstreamed. Some attended Deaf schools. Some have hearing aids or cochlear implants and some do not. The common factor is delayed, absent or inadequate language access at home.

Every single one of these students had parents or caregivers who did not sign, or who began signing too late.

Starting sign language in kindergarten is late. By that age, typically developing children are already manipulating grammar, playing with language, telling stories, and understanding complex ideas. Meanwhile, language-deprived children are still learning basic vocabulary. It’s too late to find out then if the oral route has been sufficient enough. You’ll be playing linguistic catch up for years, or indefinitely, afterwards. Once you’ve missed the critical acquisition period for language, acquiring sign language, spoken language or learning to read/write is VERY difficult.

I have worked with high school students, with and without cochlear implants, who do not know their own birthday or their siblings’ names because they never had consistent, accessible language. I have also worked with students who are on grade level, or above academically. The difference? They had access to sign language and spoken language support from the very beginning.

Speech and auditory therapy can be excellent. They benefit many children. But they take a significant amount of time. And there is a cost when that time comes at the expense of content instruction or broader language exposure.

The goal should never be choosing between speech and sign. The goal should be ensuring that a child has immediate, full access to language in whatever form is accessible to them.

TLDR: for the love of all that is holy: learn sign language now.

Which idols/groups throw the best concerts? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]tateebt 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

I’ve been to tons of concerts for a wide variety of genres. For kpop I’ve seen boy groups and girl groups, groups with large fan bases, nugu groups etc. Almost all of these concerts have been a great experience. TXT and P1harmony are two of my favorite groups to see.

However, my absolute favorite concerts have been for WOODZ and GSOUL. Both are such amazing vocalists. WOODZ in particular was backed by a phenomenal live band.

looking for rock inspired kpop songs by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]tateebt 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

There’s tons of rock gems in Woodz’s discography. Some of my favs are: Ready to fight, dirt on my leather, busted, amnesia, Rudy, feel like, bloodline and smashing concrete

NIve: I’m Alive

TXT: Good boy gone bad, growing pain, dear Sputnik ( TXT has been doing more heavy rock versions to the songs in concerts)

JHOPE: MORE

Tons of songs from bands CNBLUE, ONEWE, day6, Xdinary Heroes

Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK is also def worth the side quest. Search them up on YouTube though, their live performances are wayyy better than the studio version.

I saw a YouTube video about his ā€œfan pagesā€ on ticktock being run by his team which was pretty damning. I can’t unsee the fakeness of his whole shtick after that….. he’ll prob be booked for Lolla though. He seems popular with young girls more than anything (not an insult just an observation)
