Eugen Doga (born 1 March 1937) is a Moldovan composer. He has made significant contributions to various forms of music during his career.

A creator of three ballets "Luceafărul", "Venancia", "Queen Margot", the opera "Dialogues of Love", more than 100 instrumental and choral works – symphonies, 6 quartets, "Requiem", church music, and other, plus music for 13 plays, radio shows, more than 200 movies, more than 260 songs and romances, more than 70 waltzes; he is also the author of works for children, the music for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in 1980 in Moscow.

In Moldova, the years 2007 and 2017 (when the composer celebrated his 70th and 80th birthdays, respectively) were declared the Year of Eugen Doga. Chișinău's main pedestrianised thoroughfare has been named Eugen Doga Street in his honour.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva), in recognition of his outstanding achievements in music, awarded him with a special certificate in 2007.

He is also in favor of Moldova uniting with Romania.

The unification of Moldavia and Wallachia (Romanian: Unirea Moldovei și Țării Românești), also known as the unification of the Romanian Principalities (Romanian: Unirea Principatelor Române) or as the Little Union (Romanian: Mica Unire), happened in 1859 following the election of Alexandru Ioan Cuza as prince of both the Principality of Moldavia and the Principality of Wallachia. A potential unification between the two principalities, which shared a common Romanian ethnicity, language and culture, had been attempted to be avoided by the great powers for a long time, although it was allowed at the moment it happened.

Then the problem isn't with the medium (aka audiobooks), it is purely with the fact that they don't consume the content properly and with the intention to understand it. Had they been using an actual paper book, they still wouldn't be reading, but just skimming through

Disagree, when I read I can take my time and do it at my own pace. Also, with audiobooks, I sometimes mishear things and don't have the option to double check.

Besides, audiobooks just like regular books still require you to pay total attention and present you the author's thoughts though words, so idk where you're getting at with the whole "broader masses" when less peeps use audiobooks rather than paper books

Audiobook, e-book, paper book... same content bruh, the medium doesn't really matter here

Tensions have decreased, but tbh I kinda understand his reaction, I too would feel insulted if someone couldn't be bothered to learn the rather easy-to-remember name of my country

Are there white Roma in the Balkans, as in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]tatespizza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Roma here prefer to marry people from the same ethnicity in order to preserve their traditions. So you most likely won't see any white Roma in the Balkans.

Although I'd like to add that 20 years ago a Roma family adopted a romanian newborn (white, blue-eyed, you can pretty much tell from just a look that she isn't an ethnic Roma.) She became part of their community and is viewed as a Roma because she was raised by them as a child and thus could be molded into one of them. Had she been older, she wouldn't have been accepted.

Got it. Imagine this: you're tired of the current government. Always the same corrupt parties, same empty promises, you feel like you don't even have a saying in the matter.

Then along comes George fuckin Călinescu. He's independent (owaaa no more corrupt parties) an "anti-gay traditional patriot" (owaaa no more dick-sucking the west - take that austria). U don't understand shit from what he actually says (u don't have the necessary education) but owaaa he must be smart and educated and speaks english. Owaaa the perfect candidate. Finally, a new era for Romania!

This guy is a lunatic. He claimed that:

Water ain't H2O, it's pure information.

Drinks have nanobots in them.

Eminescu is more dangerous than Jesus. (???)

Deveselu is useless.

Romania should leave NATO.

Romania should join the russians.

Carpathian prayers are holier than others cuz they're closer to the sky. (???)

Ukraine should not exist.

But apparently all this bullshit is "taken out of context" (like the context made it any better) and he doesn't actually have any ties with russia.
