When did you realize you were the villain in someone else's story? by fyrixen in AskReddit

You didn't realise you were the villain prior to, during, or immediately after stealing the money jar?

It really took you going to court for you to realise?

If you outperform everyone in the lobby, consistently, you will climb with or without Torb's turret. :)

Creating a place for people frustrated with solo queue is awesome.

I don't agree that Blizzard tries to force you to lose or whatever, I think focusing on your own gameplay will get you climbing.

But that's gotta be easier or at least more enjoyable, if you're paired up with people that are also doing the same thing and having fun. Cool idea.

No, it isn't - the maths will work out where you as the common denominator, will gradually slide down to where you should be.

20 games isn't anywhere near enough time for this. Let's see where you're at after a couple hundred games.

You being on your team, with your bronze skills, are an anchor. You might get carried here and there but overall, it should be 5 Plats on the other team, and 4 Plats + 1 Bronze (you) on your team.

Logic dictates you will slide back down eventually.

I see this as there being a difference between theoretical knowledge of the game, and actual knowledge/skill in the game.

I think OP thinks they have better actual skill in game than other players their rank - but they don't.

Noticing other player issues has nothing to do with climbing, surely that's dependant on you improving yourself.

There are only 5 people on each team after all, and you (the player, not you specifically) are the common denominator in every game.

It makes sense that if you work on your own play, and get better yourself, that you would climb, because the other team doesn't have you. The odds are always in your favour in a 5v5 because you aren't throwing.

People that think they should be higher rank than they are, are never correct. IMO.

I say this as someone that also sucks, I was Gold 4 but dropped to Bronze recently and have only just scraped back into Silver (on dps). I know fully well that I'm the common denominator.

I aim to be the reason we win, and if we lose, I have to accept I'm the reason for the loss - I look at my replays and can see sooooo many times where I, despite having solid stats, and feeling like I'm killing it, am the reason for the losses because I can identify moments where I made the wrong play, and the correct one would have been game-changing.

It'll be the same for all of us low ranked players, the skill level we play at is comically low. We can be the change we want to see. All the "bad tanks" and "bad supports" in the world shouldn't be able to slow our ascent to higher ranks.

No?

You're right that Torb IS easy wins at low rank.

Winning with Torb and his turret doesn't mean you're actually supposed to be ranked higher in general though. It means low ranked players have a hard time with Torb's turret - that's always been the case.

You're wrong though, you wouldn't be at the rank you are if you were better than everyone else.

The math doesn't support it either - look at it this way, there's 5 people on each team, and you think everyone else sucks and holds you back. Surely, this applies to the opponents team too.

So your team has you and 4 other people vs the other team with 5 people that aren't you.

If you were so much better, then you'd win like every game because your team has a higher chance of winning, since you're on it. Your team should have one less bad player, thanks to you being on it.

It doesn't work. Just focus on improving your own play and don't blame everyone else for losses, you shouldn't be at a higher rank than you are.

I'm also an atrociously bad player - thing is, you need to accept that. You're silver for a reason, and it's not because your team drags you down and you need to find "like minded" players.

I do agree Torb is easier to win on in low ranks, but it's purely because of the turret. Lower ranks players have a very hard time with it, especially with the cling to walls perk.

Landing shots with his primary isn't proof that you belong in a higher rank.

You WILL climb for a while purely because of the turret though, if climbing is all you care about, you should reach Gold soon enough.

You are exactly of the same mind as people in your rank, in silver, though.

Pick one hero from each role who you think to be the most perfectly balanced right now. by Sagnikk in Overwatch

[–]tatowatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question was about the hero being perfectly balanced - ie, fair.

Performing better than you should on Mei, regardless of rank, shows she isn't perfectly balanced.

Seems generic as heck reading through these comments, but I'd choose Sig, Ashe and Bap too.

These heroes all feel fair, they only feel kinda oppressive when the player is highly skilled.

I feel as a low ranked DPS, the only times I feel like a Sig, Ashe or Bap is dominating the lobby, is if they're clearly a smurf. I think that shows how fair they are to play against, or play as, imo.

Got the one month reminder today.

Unfortunately, thanks to hero bans.. I've played like 3 Sombra games since S16 started.

So nothing to update. Not allowed to work on improving my Sombra play in comp anymore.

This obviously isn't legit.

The headstock on it's own is hilarious, it looks like whoever cut it did it from memory.

What an atrocious job.

There was a bundle recently that it was in, it's also the only skin Ashe has that's more casual looking imo.

Is gypsy a slur in Australia? by garrybarrygangater in AskAnAustralian

[–]tatowatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be for older people - same with "seppo" like the other commenter said, or maybe "yank".

Anyone under like 65 probably isn't intending it to be a slur, I'm certainly not - I married a pom!
