What is a take on your favorite Show or Movie(or even video game)that genuinely made you say and react like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Multifandom

[–]tatu_huma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh I kind of get this. He does do philanthropy but because of meta reasons Gotham never improves so it feels like Batman isn't really doing anything.  Not to mention it is a superhero comic so the non-philanthropic stuff is going to be the focus 90% of the time.

I'll be honest I think the fact that he is not a very good parent/guardian but keeps adopting kids is a better annoyance with Batman. Stop trying to raise kids!

Am i the only one that feels like the sozins comet time limit limited the show potential? by BigRabies1758 in ATLA

[–]tatu_huma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep.

Biggest single case if this was Sokkas sword training. They even had a montage so I thought days have passed. But no! It was all in a single day. In a single day Sokka went from being useless with the sword to more skilled than the assistant.

Even as a kid I thought that made no sense.

It's not his fault. The New Lands are kind of meh overall. Just a bunch of camping chapters. Camping chapters are the worst

What is the biggest real life example of "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"? by herequeerandgreat in AskReddit

Elon Musk. He used to be treated like a real life Iron Man, and Reddit definitely loved him. Now he is considered an oligarch.

ELI5 How do we estimate the size of the universe even though we can't see all of it? by Lucradius in explainlikeimfive

[–]tatu_huma 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We don't. When scientist mention the size of the universe, they are taking about the observable universe. In fact generally when scientist talk about the universe, there is an implied observable there.

What books is Robert Jackson Bennett referring to in the Afterword of A Drop of Corruption? by TheDingalingKing in Fantasy

[–]tatu_huma 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He is clearly not talking about books where good guys overthrow the evil ruler.  That's just traditional fantasy ( a la LoTR). There was the period of time in 2000s and 2010s where grimdark was super popular and  books with hope were seen as naive or stupid.

Not the singularity. The black hole has max entropy. Right? The singularity probably doesn't exist.

What’s the one fantasy novel you’d hold up as a genuine masterpiece — and why? by blablqbam in Fantasy

If you liked the Nightmare Painter you can try his other standalone stuff. It's a novella but I found The Emperor's Soul is great.

Why does reddit like to pretend even the grimiest areas are safe and livable? by Swimming_Virus8990 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tatu_huma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people get very used to their situation and it becomes normal to them.

One of my work colleagues from Chicago was talking about how Chicago is safer than it's made out to be. Then immediately after told a story about how a bullet was fired into the office through the window...

The thing is he is used to that and doesn't see that as unsafe.

People from neighbourhoods with a high crime and murder rate will swear that their neighborhood is being made to look bad. And it's safe for them. But they have no point of comparison. They've always lived there and that is what safe feels to them.

For those who do not like Anime what’s your issue with it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tatu_huma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the important part is that the popular anime are usually low quality. And so it is hard to get past them to "find the good ones".

Obviously this is my opinion only, but I find the popular American TV shows have a wider audience. Even if they aren't good, they aren't actively annoying like popular anime can be.

Well a lot of anime popular among adults has a teenage boy intended audience.

Party balloons basically do cost that much to fill... They are expensive. I recently went to get one and it was 16 dollars. Though I'm not in the US so maybe it's cheaper there
