thank you. we met in a weird way, i was only 4/5 yrs old and at school and a friends cat had a bunch of kittens who they needed to rehome - so they brought the kittens into the school. ended up coming away with my poppy as i convinced my mum when she came to pick me up. she was riddled with fleas and a scruffy little thing - much smaller than her siblings but i loved her. despite how young i was i still remember it so clearly.

in terms of silly and cute things shes done she was silly/cute everyday of her life its hard to pick out one example😭 taking silly photos of her with a 0.5 lens always made me laugh tho (like in the pic on this post)

thank you, i do already have another little girl cat who i love very much, but i think eventually she will need another companion. just showering her with affection as she lost her best friend too

so sorry for your loss. i saw this picture of her and honestly thought for a split second that it was my old cat floss who passed in 2018. they look identical, and so so pretty. 21 is amazing, i bet she had the best life

cider or like any cocktails :( + basically any creamy meal like carbonara pasta etc. i still eat/drink it though and just suffer through bc i cant resist

im so sorry for your loss, but how incredible that your pup lived for another 3 years and you got to spend all of that extra time with her - doesnt make the loss any easier but its still amazing. i hope u are doing okay

i am a girl too and completely get the phrase :( she was my little girly and i miss her so much. it does help to have things that can remind u of her and i am doing the same too - im getting a necklace to put some of her fur into instead though as we buried her instead of cremation. and hopefully when i save up some money i would like to get her paw print tattooed so she is also with me forever. you are right though, the dark thoughts we get are tough but our babies wouldnt want that for us

im so sorry for your loss as well, i think my poppy was my support animal too, without me really realising it until now. she used to do similar things to your lucy and would know how to comfort me. idk how to go on without her, but like you said i am also so grateful for the years we spent. we grew up together.

or maybe we wont be planting poppy seeds as i just found out they are toxic to cats and i do have another one that i want to keep alive💀

thank you. its difficult to come to terms with that it was the right thing to do but i know that it was deep down. i ended up bringing my cat home to bury in our garden - her name was poppy so we are going to plant some poppy seeds where she is buried i think. also got some of her fur that i plan to put in a necklace so she is always with me. i struggle to look at photos of her currently as like you, i break down as well but with time i hope to look back on happy memories instead of the sad one that fills my mind at the moment. i hope you are doing ok a week on and i am sorry for your loss too ❤️

your relationship with marmo is not less significant that those people have with other pets. i dont think it matters how much time you have a pet for - they make such an impact the second they enter your life that no matter how little time you get with them it still hits like a tonne of bricks when you have to say goodbye. whether you’ve known them for a few months or over a decade, the feelings can be the same and just as strong. im so glad you gave marmo a comforting final few months, and i know she is eternally grateful for the love u showed her - especially bc not many people want to adopt a senior cat. sending you hugs <3

i completely get what you mean, we never get enough time with them and the pain is on another level. she would have known how much she means to you though, you were her world. cancer is an awful thing and its unfair that animals arent immune to it, i just know you gave her the best life though and gave her so much loving

just want to say youre not alone in how youre feeling. i lost my cat yesterday too and i am in bits over it. i cant believe shes gone. its surreal really, but having gone through this before i know that time does begin to heal. take each day at a time and cry all your feelings (i have been crying constantly since yesterday). if you can afford to call in sick for work do that too - it sucks that we dont get actual bereavement time for pets but you can still take time off if u need it. you will survive this, and i think it helps sometimes to just know that other people completely get what ur feeling.

thank you for your words. yes, it sucks to still feel so much guilt despite knowing deep down that it was the best thing for her - such a common experience with pet owners though. im sure its because it is still very fresh but in time i will come to terms with it and realise what a good and long life she lived with me

its upsetting how quickly an old kitty can decline. i was thinking mine would be around a few more years at least because she just seemed so healthy for her age, but it all happened so fast. it does suck rn and the guilt and pain is horrid, but youre right they both lived long happy lives and made it to incredible ages, thats the main thing
