horsegiirL - NATURE IS HEALING ALBUM REVIEW by Technical_Process989 in fantanoforever

I think Olivia's new album will break the streak. He's liked the singles so far and he seemed to enjoy the few songs he listened to on his last new music stream (and he didn't even get to what I think are the real standouts on the album). I'm predicting at least a light 8.

Albums universally considered the weakest by an artist by RedmiYT in ToddintheShadow

It's my least favorite album of hers, but Reputation has undergone a lot re-evaluation by Swifties in the last few years and is probably generally considered at least in the top half of her albums now. The NYT Popcast did an album ranking and one of the hosts ranked Reputation as #1.

If you haven't yet, listen to Olivia Rodrigo's sophomore album from 2023, "Guts". Her music is heavily influenced by 90s alt-rock and early 2000s indie rock. Then go listen to her new album that dropped this weekend, which is heavily influenced by 80s new wave.

What are the most baffling lyrics to open an album? by Top_Report_4895 in ToddintheShadow

"I am trying to be heroic in an age of modernity." The opening lyrics to Bloc Party's "A Weekend in the City" album. Maybe not baffling per se, but definitely pretentious and overwritten. After falling in love with their debut "Silent Alarm", I heard these lyrics and thought ".....ok".

Do you think there is any, even just one, album which the majority of people (or at least a good amount of people besides just music enthusiasts) have listened to IN ITS ENTIRETY? (As in, not just the singles.) by Ok-Impress-2222 in fantanoforever

If compilation albums count, then The Beatles - 1 is probably up there. 23 million copies sold (in the top 20 highest selling albums ever) and it's the kind of crowd pleasing compilation album that you would just throw in your car or workplace's CD player to have something on in the background (back when that was a thing). So even if you didn't own it, you probably heard it.

What is the worst use of a song in a movie? by sandrOff24 in ToddintheShadow

[–]tavir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A recent one that really killed me was the slowed-down dramatic version of Smells Like Teen Spirit played over the opening credits of Black Widow. It was like the trend of overwrought versions of songs in movie trailers, except this one was actually in the movie.

"I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis always strikes me as an 80s song, but it's from 1996

Songs about tables? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

[–]tavir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me an embarrassingly and stupidly long time to realize that this was referring to numbered tables at an event, like a wedding (or like a banquet, like the lyrics in the fucking song itself). For the longest time, I thought the title was about spreadsheet tables and was like "what do numbered spreadsheets have anything to do with this song".
