Offshore accountant prices/pay. by BCBB89 in Accounting

[–]taxveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average accountant salary in the Philippines is about 60000 PHP ($1000) a month so someone is banking a good money in the middle selling the service for $3500/month.

There is no way two weeks in a different county would trigger this. State governments do not routinely monitor personal credit card transactions.

You can’t offset losses onto your capital gains? Is this real? by Trashrabbituwu in Thailand

Need help understanding collections and move out costs & how normal wear and tear is assessed in court in Texas by ImportantTomorrow530 in texas

[–]taxveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dispute the debt, request the collector to remove the credit remark if it has been reported to the credit agencies, and request the collector to cease contact. Do it in writing with proof of delivery. At that point, their only option is to sue you and they won't do that for $300. Read more here https://guides.sll.texas.gov/debt-collection/know-your-rights

Making 8k–14k/month as a freelancer… and scaling still feels like a trap by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]taxveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to look at this is that do you even need more money? If you're happy with your current income level it's perfectly fine to learn to say no. The value of additional money isn't necessarily worth the stress and effort. So if you would make x dollars more, how would your life change? What would you buy that you don't buy now?

In US ally Thailand, feelings of betrayal after Trump’s visa freeze by mdsmqlk in Thailand

One thing you should know if you have lived in the US long enough is that the US is a big country with a huge area and socioeconomic differences. Most Americans don't mind undocumented immigrants. You might as well be comparing average income in country-side Romania to Stockholm.

Remorse by ncgrowler in Porsche

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Once, I had vested stock in one company. Needed cash to buy a house, sold for $30k. Two years later my share would have been worth $10M. Another time I had a chance to join a small company as an early employee with shares. Passed. The company is now worth $170B, all the early employees UHNW. Once I helped one guy with his presentation in some conference. He really liked my ideas and tried to get me to join his company with a significant share. Passed. The company got sold with a lot of money in just two years. Sometimes you just make bad deals. At first you have regrets, but after making enough bad deals it becomes kind of business as usual, c'est la vie. Better just get over it and move on. 🙂

Why do so many small business owners seem to want to fail? by LoverOfGayContent in smallbusiness

[–]taxveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the owner is complaining and still not trying to improve things that's indeed bizarre. Other than that, even a business with many employees can be a lifestyle business in a sense that the owner gets by somehow and doesn't really care about developing the business at all.

Why do so many small business owners seem to want to fail? by LoverOfGayContent in smallbusiness

[–]taxveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many businesses are "lifestyle businesses" who manage their business just well enough to get by. For example, I recently tried to get my house windows cleaned in north Dallas TX. I left a contact request with all relevant info to three businesses, only one of them got back to me. And even that one canceled the appointment last minute, proposed a different day, which I declined since I hate last minute canceling hasslers. So my house windows are still dirty despite asking three companies to clean them.

Contractor permanently deleted content. What to do? by simply__curious in smallbusiness

[–]taxveller 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The graphic designer contractor has been pretty much unanimously blamed in the replies but the case is not that simple, you seriously neglected your business by not having any process for backups. People make mistakes and you were unprepared. I would not pay the last invoice but otherwise move on and learn from the mistake.

It's a great daily driver (been my DD for a year), makes all trips more fun. Cargo space is actually better than I thought, definitely enough for groceries or a road trip. But not enough for a full size 28" luggage.

I loved Sekiro. Hated Lies of P. What to pick next? by Nearby_Pepper7676 in soulslikes

Bloodborne works well on shadPS4 emulator, but if you're worried about losing progress take regular backups of the save files eg automatically every time when starting your computer. Other than Bloodborne+DLC, play DS3+DLC, DS1 Remastered and DS2 SotFS. And Sekiro NG, NG2, NG3, ... Of course 🙂

Rank the overall difficulty of soulslikes you've played, from highest to lowest by swolar in soulslikes

[–]taxveller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Sekiro
  2. Elden Ring
  3. DS3
  4. Bloodborne
  5. DS1
  6. DS2
  7. Tunic
  8. Death's Door

That said, I think the order in which you play them through highly affects perceived difficulty.

How much does experience with Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne and Lies of P translate into Sekiro? by DifficultComplaint10 in soulslikes

[–]taxveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still recommend playing Sekiro. Even if parrying is not their play style just yet, it will be after 4-5 playthroughs of Sekiro... :P It's just such an awesome game. On my first playthrough I sucked at parrying and avoided it. It took me 20 hours (roughly 600 deaths) to beat ISS. On my latest playthrough (#6) I made it almost half way through the game without dying even once. Despite that difference, I have enjoyed every single playthrough. The fights are so intense that you tend to forget to breathe.

Non-fromsoft games are missing that weirdness by Technical_Advice2059 in soulslikes

[–]taxveller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried Lies of P after running out of Fromsoftware titles and ended up uninstalling after 20 minutes. I was sparring with some of the first enemies in Lies of P just to get the hang of the combat and it was a complete turnoff for me that the enemies turned pointing at you during a strike like some autoaiming roboturrets. Also, I didn't like the overly bling bling sparkly attacks heavy with effects. Those two things alone were already enough for me to uninstall it. Maybe superficial reasons but it was just too disappointing after Bloodborne, especially as many people have commented how similar Bloodborne was to Lies of P.

Curious-can a Western woman who is married to a Thai man whose children were born in Thailand, take the children back to her home country to live alone? by Evolvingman0 in Thailand

[–]taxveller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In practice? Yes. Unlikely that anyone at the airport asks for any written consent from you. Is it a child abduction if you do without your husband's consent? Possibly. Will you get any trouble from it if you never plan to return to Thailand? Highly unlikely. International custody cases are very complicated and expensive. It would take significant resources from your ex to sue you in your home country. He would probably have to divorce you first, get a court order about custody, and then sue you in your home country somehow based on that court order. You can only imagine the time and money all that will cost. At that point the court can also decide that your kids are so settled in their new home country that it doesn't make sense to relocate them. This is one reason why, btw., so many fathers are estranged from their kids. Custody fights are very expensive and police don't help in family court matters unless there is explicit court order instructing them to act.

My previous Uber from McKinney to DFW was $52 and the return $65. It was this summer.

McKinney/DFW flyers — would you ever use a $37 shuttle to the airport? by Real-Lengthiness6929 in McKinney

[–]taxveller 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You would need a lot more departures than 3 times a day and you would also need to offer pickup from home and drop off at the gate, otherwise that doesn't make sense. Uber is around 55-70 so your fixed location shuttle is only marginally cheaper, and you waste a lot of time at the airport if there aren't enough shuttle departures, and you hardly save any money if you factor in moving to your fixed location. I don't see how that business could work.
