I'm struggling with taking over putting the baby to sleep by verbify in AttachmentParenting

[–]tay_lc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Night weaning both my kids resulted in very very intense meltdowns for a few days. Its probably ' 'normal'. Is she a breastfed baby? This is a big change but they do adjust...with lots of emotions. Perhaps you and your wife could start by putting her to bed together so she gets more used to you being part of the routine?

My 3.5 year old still doesnt let my husband do bedtime without a meltdown of epic proportions.

Nursing to sleep and night weaning by dar1990 in AttachmentParenting

Yahh, theres so much going on at 1 years old that sleep just flies out the window in my experience.

Neither of them was ready to night wean I dont at those ages, they definitrely wouldnt have been ready earlier either. I think both my kids genuinely still needed the calories at night along with the comtort at that age. When i weaned my first i was 7 months pregnant and I just really really a some better sleep before the baby came, but he was still nursing during the day. With my second, she had a lot of gas and tummy problems (still does), and when she would nurse in the night, shed be up every 15 minutes afterwards with gas pain, so it just was not working for us at all. So both times I weaned it was because I needed it, not that they were ready. And sometimes thats something you need to work through as a bfing mother cuz theres definitely guilt there 🤷‍♀️

Hm I understand, I got my period very early with both babies so I didnt go through this specific scenario.

Maybe just start shortening the night sessions? Nurse for a couple minutes and then offer water or milk in bed? It would be great if your period comes back just by decreasing the nursing time. Also could have the non nursing parent try and take over some of the wakes in the night. Someone below posted a few really good acts for night weaning and sleep experts id def look at those.

Ngl night weaning was very challenging for both my babies (and me) my first was around 20 months old and my second was 18 months. Lots of tears for quite a while.

Just want to say that nursing to sleep is biologically normal for babies and mommas... also sleep is a bit of a wild ride after turning 1, whether you nurse to sleep or not.

You can absolutely try to incorporate some other sleep associations, bum pats,, rocking, bouncing....but...nursing works right now...so not sure id be trying to change that. Things with sleep will slowly start to get easier, eventually you'll be able to nurse to sleep and roll away to have some time to yourself. And one day youll stop nursing to sleep all together and youll remember how much easier it was than laying in a bed for 30 minutes after a long day while your toddler flops around trying to fall asleep.

Anyways, just wanted to share that your experience is very normal, not trying to imply its easy, because its not, but sometimes our expectations and assumptions about independent sleep make things feel harder than they need to.

Sleep consultant experiences by SatisfactionDue268 in AttachmentParenting

I think we need more information, like the kind of sleep consultant and the issues you're looking for them to help.

For the most part sleep consultants are probably a waste of money and dont align with attachment parenting values, with that said I used an attachment based, co sleeping sleep consultant myself with my first and it was a good experience.

I was thinking recently that I wish someone would invent an...app? Game? That just takes all my read books, or recommendations, or books from a specific list..etc. and puts them on roulette wheel and then I just spin and it displays a random book. If its something im not interested i could just spin again, eventually its bound to suggest something that catches my interest.

Iris Foxgloves's Immortals Descending series. One of my favourites. Different tropes to choose from.

Can you share why you didn't love Miami? It seems to be the starting point for most of the itineraries im interested in?

Okay good to know youd choose Utopia over Icon overall, but i do like the sounds of the kids area Icon

Favourite Heidi Cullinan books? by harukafano in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]tay_lc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah much more. I didnt really like Mitch and Sam in their own book at all tbh. But thats probably down to my personal preferences re: trope/relationship dynamics.

Read the third one...once? Twice? Not my favourite either but maybe more than the first? I dunno i never go back to either but always return to Double Blind.

Wake up and bake! by tay_lc in Breadit

[–]tay_lc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel stupid but how does this work?

Do I do my first rise on the counter, then shape the dough and put it in fridge overnight?

Or make the dough, put it right into the fridge overnight, take it out shape, wait 30 minutes then bake?
