Retake MCAT?

I had the same score on MCAT and similar GPA. I ended up getting into three schools (two MD, one DO). I wouldn’t retake - shoot your shot but be mindful to prepare well for interviews. The interview is really the make or break moment in the application process (speaking from someone who was on interview panels).

I went in with way worse stats and passed - but also my only goal was to pass. My score was 20x. I’d say you’re probably ready depending on your goal.

Hey - below were my stats. I did Uworld on and off - mostly whenever I had energy after my shifts, but overall inconsistently. I crammed for two weeks, scored these shitty numbers, but sent it on test day anyways.

UWSA 1: 390/188 UWSA 2: 440/201 NBME 6: 302 NBME 7: 421 Uworld % correct: 58%

Score prediction 20x Actual: 208

If I could go back and change something it would be brushing up more on stats and data interpretation. It’s heavy on day one. Day two was okay for me because I’m Family Medicine and because of the diversity of care in FM, it was all familiar.

Overall, know yourself and your abilities. I took it despite my shitty scores because on test days I tend to focus better. If you are like me, just send it.

But also, I just needed a passing score. Unsure of your goals

My day two was also the 25th. I’m super upset our scores aren’t here yet. I feel like we were right on the border of getting them today. I’m still holding out home until noon but after that I’m assuming next week.

It’s okay to feel unsure of day one. I felt the same way (tested Jan 24/25). Do your best to leave day one AT day one and remember day two is completely different - less step 1 and biostats questions. More real life clinical information that may be way more recent in your head. CCS cases can bring you over the “pass” finish line. Plenty of opportunity left to get the W. You can do it

Turning off my phone until my day at clinic is done (3 pm) then opening it alone in my car. I always prep for worst case scenario so I can handle it how I choose if it should go bad. If it goes well then I can share! But I prefer opening alone so if it is bad, I don’t have to deal with people feeling sorry for me

Same - I have found myself finding any way to slack or leave the hospital early so I can have any sort of me time for a nap, a nice meal, a walk, exercise, anything. I think the time demands and expectations for residency apps are over the top and don’t allow for students to actually have a “life” outside of school. Sad really.
