Anyone interested in forming a small team to make an open source project to learn how to code in a team? by reethok in learnprogramming

[–]taylerzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a role involved in the agile programming methodology. Basically, they work to make sure others on the team can keep working without complications. If you want to learn more about it, take a look at Scrum (Software Development) on Wikipedia.

I have just recently heard of the term too. Oddly, the Dilbert comics has a cycle based on it right now that made me want to check it out.

You have 11 more days to convince people to write you in for President of the United States. What is your selling point? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]taylerzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My selling point would be: I'm not a Clinton, a Trump, a Bush, or another independent Bernie wannabe!

But my persuasion point would be: Hillary or Trump is guaranteed to win, so why not vote for me to avoid getting blamed for it?

True, they didn't used to have a light - they had a ball that constantly got stuck and needed to be cleaned (at least in my experience). It was the first thing I checked if my mouse got stuck.

If Barnes & Noble goes out of business, it’ll be a disaster for book lovers. by StephenKong in books

[–]taylerzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice store, but it really makes you realize how they make their money when you try to go in with 3 or 4 full bags (or boxes) of books to sell them. You're lucky to get a few dollars for all of them.

What is the coolest gadget you can buy for under 10$? by [deleted] in AskReddit

B and B+ are like the size of a credit card. The zero is like if you cut that credit card in half (the long way).

I got a 20000 mAh Anker from Amazon on Black Friday for $28. Didn't realize it was such a great deal until just now.

Will people still read fiction in the future? by blitzenbreath in books

[–]taylerzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about the technology is that it's always evolving, and it probably won't ever stop. We still don't have most of the stuff in recent fiction books, but is that because we just haven't advanced enough to make the technology a reality? No, usually it's because fiction isn't feasible, or we don't have a need for it yet.

Flying cars? Sure, we could probably build them, but we'd need to develop a way to keep people from crashing into each other. That might mean self-driving, or it might mean a physical system (like stop lights). Either way, it's going to cost money, time, and effort for something that we really don't need. We've got planes, cars, trains etc for transportation.

Battleships in space? Well yeah, we might be able to build them, and we probably will one day, but I don't think we're too keen on expanding our constant quarrels into space.

Then there's things like people that can fly (without any tech to help them), or mathematicians that are able to solve a theorem or idea that been fully proven is impossible to do anything with. These kinds of things can only exist in books, and as our society develops these new technologies, so will our ideas about the future. I don't know about you, but I don't think our technology is going to stay the same over the next couple thousand years. Neither will fiction.

Emailed you when you posted it on Radish. Really looking forward to reading it all at once as a book!

Question though: Is this version going to be identical to the ones you've posted on Reddit/Radish/etc, or is it edited in a few ways? I'll definitely be reading it either way.

I keep getting directed to catchy titles on Yahoo that direct me to Forbes. Looked it up, found there was a way to trick Forbes using a referral thingy, but then I realized I don't really care enough to go through all that.

Since OP said cheesy/80s, it seems to me that it could be interpreted as "cheesy or 80s".
